  • I had the chance to see Michael Jackson in concert in Germany in 1989(this was during the BAD TOUR). Greg was there also as the music director. To me, the best part of the concert was the intermission. ALL of the band players had a solo starting with Greg, and they ALL KICKED ASS!!!!!!

  • This is WONDERFUL! I had no idea he'd covered this! He's also a seriously hot keyboard player, as anybody who saw him on the road as part of Toto can vouch

  • eddie murphy + keyboard = greg phillinganes

  • @TMUSICIAN You are so wrong for this one. Funny, but you're still wrong. (LOL)

  • WHAT A G8 VERSION OF THIS SONG

  • why did michael change the texte? but this song is mj's song ? it's not the same

pourquoi michael jackson a t'il changé les paroles rapport a son album en quoi les paroles retiré genent t'elle ?

  • That dance Greg does at the end is class! what a legend.

  • 1985... music sure has come a long way! MJJ~forever - Greg is cool, I like him, a lot!

  • GP kicks arse all 'round!

  • It's too bad his solo career never went anywhere cuz I always thought Greg or "Mouse" as he used to be known when he was the bandleader of a shortlived American talk show, had a pretty good voice. He's also a helluva good keyboardist too.

  • lyrics Michael Jackson and Chris Mosdell. music Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi from their band called The yellow Magic Orchestra, the arrangement Michael Jackson, his producer Quincy Jones,Greg, himself. and the very original recording, by the yellow magic orchestra ,with their album called solid state surviver in 1979, with their original lyrics ,written by Chris Mosdell.

  • LOL! The bass player looks like Skunk Baxter!!

  • @porcaro4ever : That's who I thought it was too but I've never seen "Skunk" prance around like that.

  • @porcaro4ever That's what I thought too.

  • Awesome song, always sounds best with a strong analog synth sound leading that melody, instead of guitar. Much better :)

  • melhor que clapton

  • Was Greg trying to pursue a solo career? I wonder he persuaded EC to cover it.

  • Now come on! This is what music is about! Awesome 80s magic!! The best! ;) x

  • i didnt know Micheal jackson wrote this song

  • This sounds more like original by YMO and it's not so crappy as Clapton's version.

  • This takes me back to my high school days

  • the keyboard looks like one of the yamaha "keytar" type things released in the 80's.

Cannot for the life of me remember the model number however

  • It is a Yamaha SHS-10 Keytar.

  • one cool track, get 12in was worth the price

  • Love this version. No offense to Clapton's version but I can feel Greg's singing. And you gotta love the height of 80's sound and fashion (grin)

  • what is that keyboardthing he is holding at 0.36 called?

  • The best version far better than misery guts Clapton.

  • Greg Phillinganes had another great song, it's from his "Significant Gains" CD, and is titled "Maxxed Out," if anyone has it, please post it...thanks

  • @miamiborn Yes, I've got that album, Didn't know this one. Is that radio-noice on the background normal?

  • no, not on my copy

  • Only the the stereo-uploads are affected!

  • Love This Song!!!

  • At last ...Found a version of Behind the mask that i DONT like.

  • How could you not like this song, is is soooo 80's..lol! The 80's were a blast..especially some of the music..light and airy

  • Nah,i like Ryuichi Sakamotos version. After all he wrote it :-)

  • E.C loved that vocals..

  • PS...check out those wicked mid '80's fashions..brilliant

  • Was Greg Philliganes not part of Eric Clapton's band? When his name didn't sell this fine song, Clapton released a version. Please correct me if im wrong. This appeared on a Clapton album also but i like this because it's original. Thanks for posting

  • This isn't the original either. Lyricist Chris Mosdell wrote the lyrics for Japanese synth band 'Yellow Magic Orchestra' in 1979 for the "Solid State Survivor" album, while Ryuichi Sakamoto, the keyboardist for YMO wrote the music. Phillinganes simply did a cover, nothing more.

  • Good song.

  • Lyrics by Michael Jackson!!

  • Ese tema es un outtake de Thriller...

  • the sound blows

  • If you can upload something cleaner, by all means do it. Until then, shut the f#%& up and just appreciate what the uploader did for us.

  • I agree

  • Finally.Been looking all over for this video.Thanks.

  • A truly underrated song. Brilliant...

  • Thank You for posting this video, this is one of my all-time favorites.
