  • candy is quite dangerous for kids. When I was younger I choked on a huge peppermint candy ball at a doctors office...

  • My father, Grandpa Mike, was riding in Arlington, Texas on his motor scooter in April 4 years ago and he got hit by a car too. His shoulder hit the pavement and he was in shock. His right arm was hurt really bad. The young woman was in shock from what happened she didn't return to work for 5 days. He was 80 at the time and it took a long time for him to recover. He passed away on February 15 of this year from diabetes complications and he was sick for a long time.

  • good job wear your helmet

  • the boy that was choking is so cute and so is the boy that saved his life

  • omg that girl at 3:35 is sooo cute!

  • im eating a double flavored jolly rancher

  • i was 2

  • lol

  • hahah me too!! thats the grape green apple one lol

  • lol

  • but it had nothing to do with 911..

  • Lol, what adorable and articulate children they were (all grown up now). That little girl was so funny: "I knew something had to happen eventually."

  • at 8:10, Did they just say "wieners"?

  • no, they said winners

  • yep always good to learn basic first aid at a early age

  • i wonder if they are still best friends now.

  • yeah im pretty sure they are still best friends, no1 can forget something like that, that is an act of a true friend

  • yum jolly ranchers XD im trained in cpr im only 13 every kid should be trained you can save someone life

  • that little girl that said "I knew something had to happen one of these days" t the beginning, she is the cutest litlle kid EVER

  • Wow.

  • Whenever I look at kids playin cars and stuff, all i can think to my self is "Ignorance is bliss"

  • i know how to do cpr i did to my brother when choking

  • when did this happen and how old is ur brother

  • the kid who saved his friend must feel so good about himself, this is a cute story.

  • In the end, there is a family "DeNeui" of 5. What happened to them?

  • Kids can learn simple first aid to include applying pressure on a wound, cleaning the wound, heimlich, and even cpr simple techniques, and calling 911, don't underestimate the age.

Kids need to know how to protect themselves from strangers, first aid, cleanliness, and thinking elsewise is cheating them out of protecting themselves. I would rather them learn this than some of the other stuff being shoved on them.

  • i agree

  • I Choked on one of those candies when i was 6 years old just like that kid.

  • What is the name of the song they play as the pictures and names are shown?

  • I don't think it had a name; it was a score by Stu Goldberg, the show's composer for seasons 4-7.

  • at the schools in QLD austalia were not allowed lollies (sweets) because there unhealthy so were only allowed healthy treats which is really dumb. i hope ur ok now

  • the heimlich has been invented by a ROMANIAN SURGER!!!dr.DAN GRAVRILU

  • my teachers son got hit and had a helme t to

  • I wonder if these two kids are still friends. The probably are, but still I 'm curious.

  • they look like 3rd graders, not 1st graders

  • Maybe it's just me, but I think kids look younger these days than they did at the same age back then.

  • ya, i agree with u

  • Omg, I totally agree. When I see junior high and high school aged kids from the 80s and 90s, they look so old--they look like adults. Maybe it was the big poofy hair.

I think kids were also more mature and responsible back then than they are now.

  • Nobody thought of helmets when I was a kid.. Hell, you could buy bicycles right here in our little hick ass town, skates, skateboards. Pre-Roller blade era. No helmets.. At all. Kmart, walmart, etc.. None of them sold helmets. You had to go to like a specialty shop to buy a fricken bicycle helmet. Now they all sold elbow and knee pads. Save the skin, not the brain. I'd rather get stitches, than lay in a bed for 30 years drooling.

  • I miss this program, I wish they would release this on DVD, Keep on voting yes for this program to be released on DVD.Furthermore I wish they would put this back on the air

  • Something similar to the Jolly Rancher incident in this video happened when I was in elementary school (first grade, I believe). Some lady would give out Jolly Ranchers to the kids. One of the kids was playing football with one in his mouth, and ended up choking and having the heimlich maneuver done on him. This lady was told to stop giving out jolly ranchers after this happened, but she would still "smuggle" them in the school to give to the kids.

  • wow, i can't beleive i'm crying now. it's such a happy story. (:

  • do u like that nice one but is grade 1 a little early to learn about first aid

  • Apparently not.

  • why wat do u mean no

  • i think more schools should teach their sudins first aid anyone agree with me

  • im an emt and that kid that saved that kids life he will be a great Emt

  • I remember when I choke on Jolly Rancher when I was little. I choke on the old one which was hard, square and had pointly edges not the new one which they sell now. I was scared to eat that candy for a while even when they change the look I was still scared. But now I'm fine since I'm much older now. Thinking about jolly ranchers remind me of that.

  • i happy hes ok

  • these people who watched this show learned how to give cpr and first aid. and they saved a life just by learning from this show.

rescue 911 should be put back on tv

  • i agree

  • I worked on the production of this segment as a production assistant...I'd never seen this episode until today; kind of bummed though, because one of the things I had to do on this one was create some fake vomit out of oatmeal and such (with some grape flavor for the Jolly Rancher color), and it apparently didn't make the final cut.

  • My mom once knew a girl who choked on a jolly rancher.

  • I hope she was ok, too! Jolly Rancher candy is a bad candy for kids to choke on.

  • then what IS a good candy to choke on?!

haha! jk! i just had to do that! very tempting!

  • these are smart kids!!! He was able to remember what to do and saved his friend's life.

  • hey allgood2000 whats the episode that she was talking about at the start

  • The one about the girl without a helmet was "No Helmet Horror" from 427. That one isn't on youtube. The one where the boy saved his grandma from choking was "Siblings Save Gram" from 401 (there's a link to it under this video).

  • the little girl at 09:06 was so cute :D

  • crap sorry i meant 03:36

  • she sooooooo cute

  • HAHAHA so cute

  • Just a quick suggestion: Also buy your kids KNEE PADS AND SHIN PADS and, if they'll wear it (young kids probably will), a high-visibility vest (even for daytime)

  • the little kid on 3 38 was soooooooooo cute lol. Good job that that lad was listenin in class :S he saved a life

  • I wonder if those boys are still friends?

  • Hmmmmm? Jolly Ranchers, it sucked when they got rid of the Lemon flavored ones and replaced them with Blue Raspberry flavored ones. Jolly Ranchers are a hazard for your health.

  • Jolly ranchers are awesome! My favorite candy actually!

  • Gees, times have changed. Teachers today can't leave the classroom for a second. Cuz if something were to happen when you weren't there, you're liable. I don't even trust leaving my 8th graders alone--I can't even think leaving first graders these days alone. Kids just seemed more responsible when I was younger.

  • I had glasses just like that kid. He actually looked alot like me when I was that age. Gotta love the 90's. Great job, kid!

  • I was that age when I almost choked to death on a peace of hard candy! Thank god my mom new the hymlic.

  • Oh that little kid who saved him was so smart. That he did not panic and explained what happened is amazing.

  • wot wos choking on

  • a jolly rancher candy.

  • i choking on beef

  • wot a jollr rancher candy

  • *whacks lookyouabigailkriby with oversize anime fan* STOP BEING STUPID, YOU IDIOT!

  • Yay! Harry Potter saves the day!

  • This has absolutely nothing to do with Harry Potter.

  • I thought he looked a little like Harry Potter.

  • see is cute

  • you might not know kids can do it, but kids can. Because Selby did it, and he's only a kid.

  • I choked on a piece of pork chop and Steak before

  • kids are so cool

  • That must have been freaky for Easton!!! One time in 7th grade I was at lunch and I almost choked on a pretzel, and I thought it would get stuck. Can anyone relate to the choking segment in this episode of Rescue 911?

  • I got hit by a car when I was 9 and in the 3rd grade So what grade are you in Are you in college

I am When I got hit by a car My one of my Great Aunts

saved my life cause my mom didn't want to lose me

  • "you might not know kids can do it but kids can"

    :)

  • annazı zikiim

  • this segment kind of makes a reference to "Heimlich Brothers" Episode #113 where Kyle wilkinson saves his choking brother.

  • Actually, this segment is making a reference to "Siblings Save Grandma" from the 100 Lives Saves special. That's the segment that inspired the teacher to have the nurse come in and teach the kids about first aid.

  • what I meant that both stories didnt need a call to 9-1-1- that's what i meant.

  • That's my Friend till this day Selby Rocks I was in the final baseball scene

  • Cool! Which kid were you?

  • Hey Allgood, do you have the episode they are talking about-the one with girl w/ no helmet? If it's the one I'm thinking of, the girl was riding with her brother, she crossed the street, got hit and hit the curb and there was gasoline leaking so some neighbors moved her away from the street.

  • Yeah, but it's too long to go on youtube.

  • Aww darn

  • I could've swarn that segment had a "When we continue" in it.

  • Its amazing how Rescue 911 taught people its a shame it's off the Air it can still continue to teach people how to save lifes or what to do in case of an emergency.

  • It all about money!!!

  • and money is the root of all ignorance

  • Agreed!

  • I wish they could have briefly explained, maybe in a few words on the screen, how the lives of all the people shown at the end of each segment were saved by Rescue 911.

  • every singel one of those kids was missing there front teeth

  • hahaha wearing a bike helmet is fun

i do it every sunday while watching tv!!!!lol

  • The teacher referenced a case which took place in

    the "100 Lives Saved" special.

  • Aww I watched this with my gram when I was little.

  • Love those southern accents!

  • i started learning how to do the heimlich manuver when i was in sixth grade

  • I don't think a kid choking is very funny

I might choke on my snickers 2morrow luckly I told my friend how to use the heimlich maneuver because I choke last thurday

  • this is one of my favorite eps of the series, cause it shows all people how to save others, and we know that we can be proud of what we have done to safe a life when someone is choking

  • really touching, wow

  • Those kids are so cute! Especially that really little girl she was so adorable.

  • HAHAHA!! "He was kinda lookin around like this is gonna be the last of me."

  • this segment is VERY educational for those who wanna know the heimlich manueuver.

  • oh my gosh, that little girl in the stripes is so cute.

  • also her voice sounds like a record set on fast-mode that makes it sound cute
