After a few weeks, the VTL was nearly full, and the overall deduplication performance est 3.76. Seems not to be working on Oracle databases files according to Quantum. Seems not to be working on plain files neither.
I heard that DDomain is performing badly with Oracle as well and all dedupe engines do not like "rich-media". The dedupe ratio in my company using a 4TB DXi3500 is now stabilized to a bit more than 11 to 1. Back in last summer , our CIO preferred Qantum because he was afraid of the DDomain service... He feels like he choose the right product. And their Guardian monitoring stuff is great!
What do you mean by "impressive result"? Are you talking about dedupe ratio or throughput? The DXi box we have in Brussels is doing BU at an average throughput of 50+ MB/s (which we find great!)
Go to Data Domain! Quantum sucks big time
check out the Quantum Cruise video :)

Our company bought a DXI 5500.

Wasted 6 minutes of my life, hearing a guy reading a marketing whitepaper out loud without any independant remarks or caveats. Crap.
The "Quantum Cruise" video was a whole lot more entertaining!
