Well, I wanted to, and I've never seen it done before, and I thought it was cool. The computer is also quite old,so as an added bonus, It can play cds with out using any of the computer's resources.
confucious42 and who does the name of the song heard at time 00:27 and whats the name of it, and about the first song in the video i meant whats the name of it i like those 2
you should mod that so when you put a cd in the stereo the digital out on the stereo (if it has that) can somehow intefrface with the pc and you can "Rip" cds that way, also on the power supply do you think the pc's power supply can handle the current draw from the stereo when you turn it up, b/c i have an old pioneer stereo hooked to an external P.S. for a cd burner and some speakers i rebuilt and it sounds great, a little distorted when its loud
I don't know if it will be able to handle the current draw from the stereo, but it has been working so far, with every thing I through at it, and if the power supply fries, I wouldn't really care, because the computer was crap to begin with. I'm just trying to make it look cool, and put mods on it that aren't found on most computers. (If any one has any more ideas, I'll try to implement it in, and post an other video of it.)
Well my pioneer car stereo is one that my friend had in his lil toyota it was just a 2 speaker system and its about 4,1/4 watts per channel 8.5 watts total (yeah its a joke) but no its really that weak but it works pretty good it runs of the P.S. for the cd burner and then the speakers i built they were 2 car stereo speakers and i put them in the cases to a set of boombox speakers, yes they detached and the lights flicker a little on max volume but it works
Cool, I am thinking of putting some small speakers into the case its self, so it is all inclusive, and maybe putting a cigarette lighter from a car in it, and of course some lights. I'll post a vid of it when I am done with it.
Cool beans, i like the song you are playing in this video i know its by RHCP but thats the name of the song, also the drums sound alot like the theme to the movie the warriors, and when you do the next video if you want to can you play the song snow by RHCP or dani california, if you want to i dunno if you like those 2 or not
Firstly, I had to cut a whole in the computer's case so the stereo would fit, but once I got it in, i used the harness and wired it up to the power supply, and some speakers, the drive does not interface with the pc, it's just in it for a cool mod.
does the cd player just slot right in or did you have to modify it
clarkiejohn 8 months ago
@clarkiejohn i had to modify it, it was a single din unit, but the drive bay was 5.25" i had to do some cutting, it wasnt too tough.
confucious42 8 months ago
What size is this unit? As typical drive bays are 5.25" ?

That's nice because I would love to have an amp integrated into my PC, and use standard speakers

Very interesting! Is this realistic?
I have some old PC's to throw out, maybe I can give this a try...
Does the system require a dedicated power supply, or share the computers power?
timetravelexperiment 3 years ago
I had the stereo share the computer's power.
confucious42 3 years ago
ok :)
did you use the amplified outputs, or a line-out?
PowerAndPerception 3 years ago
i just used the line out on the stereo deck, and hard wired it to speakers
confucious42 3 years ago
was it a perfect fit or you had to modify your case to fit the head unit
lennybrickz1 3 years ago
i had to modify it a bit its like a quarter inch too wide if remember correctly
confucious42 3 years ago
@confucious42 make sure uve got a good wattage power supply or it will cut out or over heat and may cause harwre damage
