@jasonbigelow Nowhere, they are custom-made for the band, in fact these are kind of motion sensors, They send different information depending on their position in space, The information then goes through the special program (also designed for the band) which makes those crazy noises

You know a band is amazing when you can't decide whether you liked them better ten years ago or you like them better now. It's like how many bands can you count that 10 or 20 years after they first played together are still making music that is totally different on each outing but also just as good and interesting and innovative. Who knew some kids who had never played their instruments before could pull that off. :D Makes life worthwhile to know they're people out there like these.

ok since you asked: the part with the two spheres in eYes hands has an interesting correlation between the movement of his body and the sound. the drummers are all great at incrementally increasing speed together, which is no easy task. many of the sounds they employ are interesting spatially, there is seeming doppler motion from their building changes in volume/pitch. there is also a ton of energy and joy in this. if you don't appreciate it, that's fine, but these are better musicians than you

in some of boredoms live shows, there are dense drum patterns that increase slowly in both volume and speed. we use our hearing for more than just music: volume and speed increasing gradually is like something slowly approaching. in that way, their use of these synchronized patterns and those dynamics gives the music

All music involves dynamics and synchronicity. All they're doing is using a nontraditional setup i.e. two drummers, some weird full body theramin etc.. to make noise and everyone flips their shit and blabbers on about how ingenious they are. I don't HATE them they're just boring and overrated.
