  • Opera Mini owns this lol

I used this before, and I didnt like it that much

  • Better then Safari. But Opera Mini for iPhone is way faster then this one. Except for the fact that is isn't allowed in the app store yet!! :(

  • The ONE thing my android phone does better than my iphone is reformat text columns when I pinch zoom (I have an HTC hero..) so instead of having to move back and forth like in safari, I can blow up the txt as large as I like, and it'll be in a single column the width of my screen. Great for reading with the phone on your lap while you're at an event of some sort and you don't want to look like an uninterested douche browsing the web while everyone watches the show(even if you are..lol)

  • @rockbandmidi that's different type of zoom :p and iPhone supports this under accessibilitty options.

  • Why doesn't it remember what part of the page I was zoomed in on when I change orientations? Safari does.

  • I can't open DailyTech articles linked to from Anandtech in other tabs, even using copy/paste. It always loads the DailyTech homepage even with the proper article's URL.

The back and forward buffers will not let you skip multiple pages and force you to wait for each page to load. How about having it list your back-buffer when held? How about having it remain "popped up" until you touch back on the page?

  • I like it and wanted to use it as my browser but when i go to certain forums I can browse to the section but when i bookmark it and try to use the bookmark it gives a "host not found" error and redirects to another page on the site.. Also bookmarks are now 2 clicks away instead of 1 in safari so thats another drawback.. it's not all bad I like the tabs and clean interface, good idea but needs alot more work.. let us know when you fix it ;)

  • Oh, and I am already sick of losing my pages that I had open just because I had the inkling to check something else on my phone. It's bad enough that the phone doesn't support multitasking, but this only makes it worse. WHY?!

  • @CZroe [myself]

Well, I'm at work and I had some Blu-Ray reviews open for when I had time to finish reading them when an issue came up that I needed to use the Notes app for. I had to suddenly leave iDroid and it closed/lost/dumped all my open pages. WHY?!

  • A couple more problems/needs:

It NEEDS Page Up and Page Down. It doesn't even have a way to jump to the top like Safari mobile!

Many URLs don't work properly. Like, when I visit a link to see comments from my YouTube "Reply to Comment" emails, I get a page with a list of comments in Safari. Copy/Paste that came URL from the email to iDroid Mini and it dumps you to the YouTube app and errors out of playing a video.

  • Seems pretty fast. Looks to have a lot of potential. Definitely something to watch.

  • I'd like to have my phone's status bar visible. I usually browse at work with a bad signal due to the building and location (underground).

It jumps from low-strength, but working, 3G to "full strength," but timing out/not-working Edge (confused by noise I believe), so I try to load all my pages during the moments when I have 3G and read them while I'm "offline."

  • URL-friendly OSK (On-Screen Keyboard), Google Suggestions, and Landscape mode/Fullscreen did not work until I disabled them, launched the browser, and re-enabled them.

This solves many of my complaints, but please allow opening links in new tabs. Safari mobile has the option when you tap and hold a link, but it switches to the tab when you don't want it to and only loads the tab being viewed. idroid could completely fix this with the ability to open a link as a new tab. Copy/Paste for now. :(

  • full screen is not working

  • It got me too until I figured out the fix:

Go to the iPhone's settings and you'll see a new category for iDroid Mini.

Disable everything and then launch iDroid Mini.

Exit and return to the settings.

Re-enable Landscape mode and any additional settings you want.

    Launch iDroid Mini again.

    Enjoy.

  • @CZroe thanks its working now

  • You're welcome.

  • Really? It never occurred to anyone during development to be able to open a link in a new tab? Or did it and since you have a fixed number of tabs this would not be useful? If so this effectively kills the usefulness of a Tabbed browser. I can see using this for a specific purpose such as a launchpad for browsing lets say 9 online newspapers or something to that affect but for a everyday browser this fails.

  • Why do they act up with the tabbed browsing?!

    Safari supports this, too!

  • but safari does not do this simultaniously....

I love the idea to start the browser and have my pages loaded from the beginning... No waiting time when switching tabs...

  • @xodeusdk Mhm, alright. I just tried it and this browser is rly good! But I try to have as less apps as it's possible, and because I have already a browser on my iPhone, I uninstalled it ^^
