  • Thank you. I appreciate it.

  • If you do this process, will it harm the phone. I know I just saw the video, I'm just asking will it.

  • @jjoovvoonn23 I did my phone and my son's phone and no harm was done. I have not heard of anyone having done any harm. Of course do it at your own risk.

I did not do any backups. I am sure that is not smart. Backup what you can.

I think it will work out for you OK.

  • hey i will pay u 89$ for ur samsung intercept plz let em have it!

  • thats a sidley chair from staples....dont ask me how i know

  • wat do u do wen u forgwt ur password?

  • I have the this phone I love it..but sometimes it freezes..is there a way to fix that.??

  • This or optimus v?

  • @MrSwaggmeister Not sure what your question is but I still own and use the Intercept. I plan to get the Motorola Triumph when I can afford it. I see it is on sale now for $239.99

  • i want your monitor!

  • @oSReTired It is a nice monitor. It is an HP. It is the HP w2338h. It is 23 inches.

  • @hnbbs Its Amazing! Its bigger than my room TV :)

  • My android has 2.2.1 is that up to date?

  • @sk8terchickie98 You are current. You are up to date. Enjoy.

  • @sk8terchickie98 no 2.2.2 is up to date

  • my samsung intercept just came today with android 2.2 on it and it works great(:

  • @airsosoft199 Great ... glad they are not shipping with it installed. Yes 2.2 is much better than 2.1. So enjoy the cell phone and the great price and service from Virgin Mobile.

  • love the keyboard :D

  • @iknowwhat100 Yes it is a nice keyboard. I have a review of that keyboard here in my videos.

  • My intercept works great even after the update! Its fast its not laggy at all! I love my intercept!! :D

  • @3lferny I agree and at $25.00 or $35.00 a month it is a great deal. I was going to get the new VM phone for $300.00 but I think I will stick with my Samsung Intercept. We made a wise choice I think.

  • @3lferny Does it still work???

  • The first step idk how to do that!!

  • Do your contacts get wiped out when you do that?

  • @blupanda5 No you do not lose your contacts and data. I guess to be safe.. People always need to warn everyone to backup your data. But you do not lose your contacts.

  • Does it cost money to download it onto your computer?

  • @blupanda5 No it does not. But by now VM should have it out to everyone.

  • @hnbbs if i install this on my mobile, can switch it later to the old 'system'... as example; i have now the normal samsung system on my phone, if i install android on it, can i switch it later back to the samsung system?

  • @gopesh22 I will let someone else answer that question. I think you should have the ability to do it. I am not sure just were you would get the older Android 2.1 to install. The OS on your phone is, as I am sure you know, Android 2.1. It is not like it is a Samsung OS. But I will let some expert jump in here with an answer for you.

  • I went to target and it had no travel and feedback and I still worried

  • I'm going to get this phone does this phone keyboard have good travel and feedback or click

  • @joehann42 I think that it does. But you should try it out. Go to a Virgin Mobile store and they have them often at shopping malls. Or find someone that has one and try it out.

  • um @hnbbs do you still have ur intercept cuz i suppose to be getting less than 2 or 3 weeks and i wanna upgrade it wants i get it but im scared cuz on other videos its say it delete all their contacts or messaging or something nd i dont feel like loosing all my contacts cuz i would be mad as heck

  • @xjust1nl0v3x2010 I still have my Intercept and my son still has his. Still using the phone.

  • @hnbbs i wanted that phone but i cant get it now no money lol i only have 15 dallors nd im going to sell my rumor touch for 70 so then 85 nd i still have no way to get it :(

  • does this delete anything already on ur phone like apps and CONTACTS ?? please let mi know .

  • @EssaSleepy NO it does not remove your apps or contacts.

  • did you used to work for a tech. company in your younger years?? i find it fascinating how an elder like you is so advanced with tech

  • @ceezy8732 No I wish. I worked as a welder for 10 years and then a hospital security officer for 30 years plus a few other jobs. But when I was a teen I was big time into shortwave listening and ham radio. I also got my first computer in 1978. I had a BBS from 1982 to 1995 when I moved to the world wide web. But for this Android install I was just reading and doing a install that was written out online. Glad I came across looking like I knew what I was doing. Buy you younger people are ++

  • on an intercept factory now and loved this tutorial. had an issue commenting though, couldnt do it with youtube app or the mobile youtube stie but just set to desktop site to post. im gonna do this. ive been playing with my moms android for the past 10 days from my hospital bed (ill get her permission first) and have been looking alot into android mods rooting roms ect using this phone for when i get my lg optimus.

  • @mushroomandroid420 Good luck. "Hospital bed?" I hope you are OK. Get well soon.

  • Does updating the phone cost or is it free?

  • @ReeseBAiiB33 It is free.

  • i make the process with yo0 and it was awsome... realy thanks... now my phone works faster! ... i have a question: if i move apps to SD card it works faster or not?

  • @SHAMIRGRILLO Well the apps might have to load first if they are on the SD card so that might slow up things a bit. But then it would free up memory and that would help. Some apps can not be moved to the SD. Some that allow you to move them will not work correct and you will need to move them back. So I would give it a try... maybe one at at time and see if you have any problems.

  • does your device have to be rooted?

  • @fenisc NO

  • @hnbbs when you say version 2.2, i have version 2.2.2 do you know if this will still work? if so please tell me. thanks.

  • @fenisc That is the version 2.2.2 that I installed on my cell phone.

    So if I said 2.2 I mean 2.2.2

  • the file u downloaded how do u get it

  • @tejada95 The URL is in the notes under the video here. Go to both of the URLs listed and read them for the URL.

  • YAY THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • Can't wait for the new virgin mobile phone coming out this summer the motorola triumph!! Look it up!!

  • what if my computer doesnt have a slot for an sd card?

  • @seeker2323 I just did it that way because I hate hooking up the cell phone to the computer via the usb cable. But you will have to hook up the usb cable to your computer and transfer that file that way.

    Good luck.

  • @hnbbs I tried that and this message came up Cannot copy update: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name.

  • hi whats the name of that keyboard.. it looks cool

  • @4everthesystem It is a Saitek keyboard. I have a review of it here on my channel. Do a search for Saitek and you will find it.

The keyboard is a Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard

  • so would improvements did this update make on the phone?

  • @ThuqqNaStY2k11 Well the best thing was the battery now last much longer on a charge. Before I had to put it on charge a couple of times a day and sometimes now I can make it a day or more. The other thing is the ability to have apps on the SD card. There are some other fixes ... check out a YouTube video or site that tells what improvements 2.2 adds.

  • I updated the phone... few weeks went by.... phone still freezes a lil......and sometimes it turns off by its self? Then turns on by its self? Any thoughts :/ Is there a way to go back to 2.1? So i can reinstall the update again.? thanx.

  • Comment removed

  • does anybody rooted this phone/if so can u guys plz help me

  • if i bought this phone today, would android 2.2 be installed already?

  • @manny24lal I do not know. Are you going to buy it from BestBuy or a Virgin dealer? If so ask them to make sure. You can also go to FaceBook and then go to the Virgin Mobile page they have and ask the tech people there. Or maybe someone here can anwer your question.

  • @hnbbs alright thanks

  • @manny24lal I bought this phone @ Target one week ago and it didn't come with the Froyo 2.2, but however that same night after I activated it I got a message saying that there was an update for the phone, after I accepted the update the phone turned off and after like 5mins it turned on again and the phone now had the Froyo 2.2 . It was awesome I didn't have to go through this process cause I'm not good at following directions so I probably would of broke my phone lol..

  • @LaReInAofSoCali yea i'm not good at following those directions either that's why i asked lol thank you so much. im prob gonna upgrade from my rumor touch now

  • @manny24lal Have u seen the LG Optimus V that one does come with the 2.2 version. I seen reviews that the LG Optimus V phone is better than the Intercept I just love the fact the Intercept has a slide out qwerty keyboard and that is a must for me lol.. But if that is not an issue for u then maybe that can b an option for u, well thats just my opinion if u wanted a phone with the 2.2 on it already.. Well good luck if u get the intercept on getting upgraded to the 2.2 :)

  • @LaReInAofSoCali yeah i've seen the optimus, i just don't want to rely on the touch screen only. i like having a physical keyboard to navigate :) thx

  • @manny24lal 2.2 just came out. If you buy it off Virgin Mobile (which I am) it would be pre-installed with FroYo 2.2!

  • nice video

  • hnbbs is Bi Winning

  • I can finally play Angry Birds.

  • @sasuke1112233 Almost the only reason to have an android phone! Smile

  • i need help!!!!

  • "Virgin Mobile USA

Thank you for being patient while we roll out the Froyo 2.2 update. We have noticed posts with links to non-official Froyo software updates and we STRONGLY advise to NOT use these updates.

Using a non-approved Froyo version could potentially corrupt your phone’s software & will void your warranty. Manually updating your phone will also void the monthly insurance some customers may have purchased for their phones. Please be patient & wait for the Froyo update to come to you.

  • @josebernal302 I THINK the danger would be if the update.zip file was a virus or someone messed with it. That is not the case in the file but you never know and I think we all want to make sure that the person doing the update knows we don't want any blame for any problems. You are on your own. Many people have problems with things like this and it might be best to wait for VM and let them hold your hand.

  • I received my update last night at 11 53pm.

  • @sasuke1112233 Glad to hear that VM is rolling out the updates. I heard they were doing 5000 a day. My guess is so their phone support people could handle any problems. It would be nice to know how long before everyone will get the update.

  • efore I do this, can you specify what the risks are in not waiting?

  • @Aang6678 I have heard that it could break your phone. I do not know how that would happen or if it could happen. IF the update had a virus or was not the real update then for sure it could be a major problem and require you to have VM/Samsung to fix the phone.

I think everyone that has anything to do with this just want to make sure you are the one taking the risks and not coming back and blaming us.

  • @hnbbs thank you! This video was very helpful by the way. :)

  • @Aang6678 Have You Noticed He Started With a Quote And Didn't End With One?

  • @sasuke1112233 what does that have to do with anything, apparently I forgot the "b" in before...

  • it doesn't work for me when i try to download the file it downloads 5 different files what one do i change to update and put on the root of the sd card?

  • @tritton720sAREgood You have a PC correct? No an Apple or something? I know nothing about Apple computers. I THINK that you are downloading the file. But each time you download it it gets an additional number attached to the file so it can save it. The file you get has some name, I forget what it is, but it needs to have the name changed to update and it should be update.zip Some people I fear are naming it zip and ending up with update.zip.zip Anyone you can get help from?

  • Awesome! It works great :D It only took 8 min to do the whole thing!

  • @FrancGary Great. Only 8 minutes! That was fast.

  • worked perfect thank you very much

  • Fantastic, worked for me and THANKS for the links. :)

  • @DashJohn Great glad to hear it.

I turned off the Auto-rotate screen option after the update. It seemed to go into that mode to often for me.

Battery life is MUCH better now with 2.2. That alone makes it a worthwhile upgrade.

  • thanks so much i juss did it and it great ,,

  • @LilGeezzy10 OK great to hear it. Enjoy.

  • Thanks a lot for posting. I followed the instructions and it updated perfectly. I was going to wait for VM but just couldn't take it anymore!

  • @HoytWClagwell I was the same. I waited and waited. I was checking my phone a number of times each day for the word to upgrade. I am glad it worked for us. My phone is doing much better on battery use now. Before it was almost useless and now I do not see a battery problem.

  • will this be the same update that virgin mobile will release

  • @MrSKOALRING Yes this is the same one Android 2.2 I put it on my phone and my son's phone and it is working. I think the people that got the file are saying they got it from VM. It is also the file for the Samsung Intercept. Do not try it on any other phone. Also you are doing this at your own risk. I am told that a person could damage or ruin their phone.

  • @hnbbs ok thanks

  • @yellowbirdscoalmines OH great .. so you got it updated. Great.

  • @yellowbirdscoalmines Make sure that the file name is: update.zip and not update.zip.zip

Also make sure it is in the root of the SD card and not in a folder. Anyone around you that can help you?

  • where did u get the file?

  • @gman21881 I did not get the file but the link is in the information below.

  • Thanks for making the video simple. I got tired of waiting for the Virgin Mobile Golden Ticket for the OTA update.

  • @DARKHAWKMARK I also got tired of waiting and waiting. I do not know how many times I checked for that Golden Ticket in my message folder. I have to make things simple because I am not the brightest bulb in the lamp ... so I need to keep it simple.

  • did yours come with live wallpaper?

  • @Alex73084208 No live wallpaper. With the 2.1 on the Samsung Intercept live wallpaper was not recommended. With 2.2 you can run it but it slows down the cell phone and drains the battery. The phone does not have the power for it. It will run it but I would not recommend it. I have not tried it.

  • Good video!

  • @gigidevant Thank you.

  • virgin mobile just announced that there releasing 2.2 .

  • does your virgin moblie have to be rooted to do this ???

  • @Casper07091993 No if I understand rooting. You are not giving yourself root control like an Linux Admin.

With this you are just installing an upgrade. You can not change other things.

At least that is my understanding of it.

What you saw in the video was just what took place. A standard phone and put the update.zip file on the CD and did the re-boot to install the up date. My phone and my son's phone are working OK. No problem.

  • he may be old...but hes the best.

  • @BeastlyIvey Where? Is there an old man someplace around here?

I did not see him. Most the time you can smell them.

  • tht niqqa old lol

  • @poohblood793 Old. I am only 70. That is today's ...errrr... No... 70 is today's ...errr..

    Oh hell 70 IS today's 70!
