  • Eww, whos that ugly tranny at the end? =/

  • Comment removed

  • anybody seen derren's art?..check his website..it's unreal.

  • He moves the lady's hands everytime, except for the third time. The hand that is harder move conceals the coin, since the volunteer wants to guard the coin firmly. The rest of the act is just misdirection. The third time, he explains the trick :)

  • he bloody stole the lady's pound coin

  • The last time:

"Are you happy to do THIS?" (He opens his left hand, and she nods. That means it's in the right)

  • 'the hand thats left empty' clever derren

  • an audience of 12000? :L

  • why was my mom at the end of the video?

  • @Albinomonkey512

    *tumbleweed blows past*

  • @dannymin tumbleweed gets stuck up dannymin's asscrack...

  • he uses a magnetic coin and a compass watch, still epic though

  • Paul O'Grady's joke at the end fell flat. :/

  • genius, i love him

  • When he says can everyone stand up you can hear poeple say oh no....lol

  • I would have put the coin in my right hand because it sounded like he was trying to encourage use of the left hand >.<

  • "Put it in the hand that's right and leave the hand that's left empty..."

  • I want to touch his goatee.

  • could u imagine this guy being hustled?

  • imagine him on 'would i lie to you' XD

  • He took her pound coin!!!

  • Jesus can do that too.

  • He's emphasising that these people are the most difficult to do it with... but think about it. The ones who were trying to trick him are the ones he gets to sit down each round :) another level of trickery, he's getting the most simple minded person up on stage to make it easier for himself! Nice one Derren

  • @valdez87 sure, but it still dosent make this easy to do.

  • The most important part is touching the hands each time, the hand with the coin will show more resistance

  • He also touches her arm/hand each time before guessing.

  • Anyone notice the weird clenched fist he has on the lady's back as he takes her on stage, then with the same hand he puts somthing in or takes it out of his pocket before he starts talking to her.

  • He stole her coin and 50 pounds! LOL

  • You will put it in the hand that feels RIGHT and Leave the hand threre is LEFT empty.. absolutely brilliant, and jet its in the other hand... Brilliantly done:D

  • Shopped, definitely shopped!

  • I don´t want to meet Derren, he robs you out!

  • "Would you like to touch my goatee?" LOL

  • He stole the coin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's a thief

  • Most people are right-handed.

  • i would put it in my back pocket to get the fifty quid

  • this whole notion that he plants ideas in your head by saying certain words or whatever is just a misdirection, it makes you think the trick is more complex than it actually is when in reality its just another run of the mill magic trick.

  • "would you like to touch my goatee?" LOL!

  • WTF ? A TRANNY

  • What happened when she came back to take back her coin?

  • @WrittenEidolon I think he answered "that's my pound , I won it." :P

  • @Isteinier lol I replayed it and heard that. Forgot about this comment, thanks any ways. Cheeky lil' Derren.

  • @WrittenEidolon Yeah, he's really funny. "Would you like to touch my goatee?" :P

I also just saw his stage show Enigma. I think I spend one half of the show laughing and the other half looking amazed. He does know how to make people laugh :D

  • @Isteinier goatee <<< ROFL - magic lamp is replaced. Funny man indeed!

  • one thing i notice is that before he can say which hand, he touches her hand... maybe its something to do with feeling her hands?

  • .. 1 coin*

  • I'd have put two coins in each of my hands and said "100 says you can't"

  • Very very good Derren, going to see you to perfrom your show, Svengali soon.

  • @MrAlexMagic Its amazing but remeber to be sceptical of what he tells you of svengali but this is derren brown you go to be deceived, its very good :)

  • @MrAlexMagic really, REALLY good show, svengali. :)

  • Everything he does and says he does it for a reason. even if it don't seem like it, such as "touch my goatee" you think its a joke but he is just watching what hand she uses.

  • @sns14 why do people always have to ruin the tricks? it's reeeeaallly annoying

  • '50 of your earth pounds' Tehehehe..

  • He moves her hands every time, she puts extra resistance on the hand with the coin in.Simple as that, but quite genius.

  • What happened to the world at 7:16?

  • she wanted her pound back

  • He'd be a handy goalkeeper for a penalty shoot-out!

  • Comment removed

  • God dammint. Somhow I decided that if I was to be called on the scene I would too put the coin in my left hand 4 times in the row. I wonder If it's common thinking...

  • Meh I put it in the right hand simply because I'm right-handed, and I'm geussing a lot of the people in the crowd were thinking the same thing. And for the second time, he doesn't even name a hand, he just says ''if you kept it in the same hand'' which is also not that impressive as people are lazy like that..

  • If you're a magician, you know exactly how this is done :)

  • He says there was a nod the first time but no nod the second time.....

It is completely the other way round....

  • @UKcardMagic yea i noticed that as well :S maybe he just got his words mixed up, understandable infront of 12,000 people plus TV cameras

  • LOL, he kept her coin

  • This man is completely perfect. He is brilliant! I'm so lucky to have actually seen his show and meet him. I love him.

  • I went to see Svengali yesterday and I got called on stage, even with all of the supernatual scary stuff it's amazing how safe he makes you feel! He's so charming and lovely!

  • @BekiiXD

Err. the supernatural is one of those things Derren Brown is really advocating against.

  • @lulhoofd1 Oops, didn't really know what I was writing then, was still in shock! Sorry! x

  • Would be quite embarrassing if it failed the last time, the audience would have been ticked off! lol

  • Haha Lilly at the end was classic. Loved how the woman had to ask for her pound back too.

  • lol fucking shit show lol

  • This is joke 'uncanny' and 'not real' by the look at it

  • Fake

  • @pepsico8 FFS, every 2nd video of Brown's has some knob saying nothing but 'fake' or 'BS', and leaving it at that. Are we just supposed to believe your wise and aged opinion, O, pepsico8? Say why, or resign yourself to not be taken seriously by, I'm optimistic here, the majority.

  • @ExEverest10 lol it still a fakers

  • @pepsico8 Do you even know of grammar? Nevermind, let me explain this bit: unless you're infallible and/or omniscient, we can't just trust your opinion to be correct. I can say the sky is pink. Until I have an argument based on facts and logic, not many will take that sentiment seriously. You should do the same if you want (I'm once again, hoping) the majority to not dismiss you as another asshole with an opinion.

  • @ExEverest10 I'm not talking about you fuck dumbass, This is fucking fakers that all not you okay!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @pepsico8 What? No, not okay; so you're saying that simply because you're not talking about me directly I shouldn't give a toss about what you say? What kind of an egotistic and self-centered sentiment is that?

  • @ExEverest10 I don't understand why you mad at me????????????? Stupid boy

  • @pepsico8 Because you're talking nonsense, that's why. And I'm the stupid one?

  • @ExEverest10 Yeah I'm the stupid one too. There other comment say it fake too

  • @pepsico8 And if they don't understand why someone else takes umbrage at that, when that's all they say 'that it's fake', then they're being stupid too, I feel. It's an almost meaningless statement; what do you mean 'fake'? Set up? Not being psychic? Otherwise manipulated? What do you mean!? Explain!

  • @ExEverest10 I've notice that you always complaining to other youtube viewers, I'm not bother with your comment and you're wasting your time, I'll ignore your comment okay

  • @pepsico8 I 'complain' (I'd prefer criticize) to others because I disagree with what they're saying, and would like to reach a consensus through a dialectic.

Yes, I believe you are correct in that I'm wasting my time. It's a simple explanation in your part, but since you weren't willing to explain initially, I don't see why you should after 5 (6?) comments.

  • @ExEverest10 It from actor or actress who work with Derren, It simple as that

  • @goo That could be true, but I am sure that he's done similar tricks on his TV show, on which he promised that he never used actors or stooges. If I recall correctly, it was done with cards...you could probably find it, and furthermore, this doesn't appear a difficult trick to do. I think he's cold reading for majority of the time, throwing out informaiton and gauging the subject's response. In other words, he's done similar tricks before (if memory serves), and it's not difficult to begin with.

  • @ExEverest10 lol it only acts and shown on tv

  • @ExEverest10 goooodbyeeee

  • All Hail the use of NLP

  • @herdondoozer Is it the use of NLP, however? Afaik, there's zero evidence for the validity of NLP, or am I mistaken?

  • @ExEverest10 I use NLP daily in my private practice, obviously not for show like this but therapeutically something doesnt have to go through the formal research track if it just works. Too many students and people base way too much of their stock on research. IF it works use it, no need for research

  • @herdondoozer It can't *just* work, that's a shortcut that brings all manners of variables into the proverbail equation. For example, various vodoo rituals conducted in indigenous villages work too. The thing is, they work as a placebo; the rituals have no inherent value above that.

  • @herdondoozer I completely disagree that 'too many' people base their conclusions on research; if this conversation is of any indication, *not enough* people do. If you think NLP works you should push for research to be undertaken, so that NLP has some credibility to it's name; and also, so you can find out whether NLP really worked in your case, or whether the benefits you've seen were as a result of a placebo, or just natural recovery.

  • @herdondoozer This is what Derren thought of NLP in 2006: '“It’s now huge, unchecked and unaccountable, full of nutty thinking. It’s staggering the sort of faith involved,'

Sunday Times, Inside the mind of a trickster, 26/03/06

  • At 6:59 " I won a pound " . Then she asks for it and he goes like " I won a pound " 7:04

  • when he touches her hands after she chooses which hand, she either will tighten her hand our not giving away the coin

  • No u don't

  • anyone else notice his weird nodding stutter thing?

  • @MrBFCseasider I do it too, and when I do it my neck clicks. I think it might be the same thing for him.

  • @CptCaptulon He has said in interviews that he practiced too hard for some memorization feat, or something similar, and that the tic stuck.

  • @MrBFCseasider I know. if you watch every show he has done, he does the same thing

  • @MrBFCseasider its not stutter, something he does called micronods where he tricks people that are watching him to choose something. makes them believe him.

  • @MrBFCseasider I read it's a twitch he's developed from nodding to make people agree with him or something like that.

  • @springbok93

Yes, he tells it in his book "Tricks of the mind", it's a suggestion for people to agree

  • @MrBFCseasider In his autobiography he explained the nodding twitch as something he had initially read about, and did consciously, lightly nodding to convince someone else to follow his instructions subconsciously, however over time it has become a twitch which he does automatically.

  • @MrBFCseasider i did. watch the "conversation with derren brown" his nodding is the weirdest, he worked on the micro-move of nodding to influence a positive response i guess, but it's turning weird

  • did she ever open the "empty" hand?? She did at the end, only after tapping her thigh

  • @tk339 That wont be the method. Why ? If she were a stooge then they would go for " right right left right " or so and spare this obvious tell...

  • N'awww, I love Derren (:

  • He always tells people that he is not psychic and uses psychology and misdirection. He misdirects with the first part proving how well he understands human nature. It has no relevance to the lady because anyone would react the way she does. He sets her up for the first hand with "touches" and nods. He can tell which hand it is in after that when he moves or touches her hands because when you try to move someone's hand who is hiding something it is stiffer. Watch when he touches her hands.

  • its very simple realy..usually when you have both arms stretched out, the one with the coin has a stiff grip of the coin...its psychological..anywayz with this theory , when derren turned her around, he turned her while he was holding one of her hands..the hand with the coin is usually stiff...simple , very obvious dont u think...theres was no influencing whatsoever...

  • Oh bollocks.... the reverse camera angle at 4:20 is the "psychic power".... (the person who told him in his earpiece which hand it was in every time)

  • @stiddlyrehman There is no need for that to be the way, Im 15 and I have ways of getting it right every time.

  • Yup i think the Goatee is involved !

  • Everyone trying to guess HOW he does it, have you not tried listening to him? He explains how as he's going along... Its not a trick, it's body language and psychology...

  • @blackasmidnight14 yes i listened to him,but it`s all phsycological jargon. He 100 percent knew each time through other means. So in other words he`s not explaining anything, and indeed,it is a trick

  • 5:17 - "Put it in the hand that's right, and leave the hand that's left empty."

    Nice.

  • @snackajack117 That's how he works... psychological influence...

  • @blackasmidnight14 I'm aware. I was admiring the manner in which he did it. Sue me.

  • @snackajack117 Well then I apologise, I assumed that you where being sarcastic and criticizing. I'm sorry that I read it wrong.

  • @snackajack117

in that case the coin was in the left hand . . . the 'psychological influence' is misdirection. . .

  • The people left behind weren't the hardest to do the trick with, as he makes out. They were the most suggestible.

  • Notice how he touched her hands every time before guessing... He used the excuse of positioning her that the crowd can see, but I bet he can tell something be the resistance she offers to him moving her hands around...

  • 5:01, his balls dropped:)

  • Comment removed

  • ouch i want to touch that goatee

  • Comment removed

  • touch it, touch ittt....

  • I am seeing him in March!! EXCITED MUCH!

  • LOL did he actually take £1 off that woman!?

  • "Put it in the hand that feels right, and leave the one thats left empty" .... crafty derren and his way with words...

  • @Phoebs2 not crafty enough the hand the the money was in that time was the left hand

  • @Kai1313 Yeah i know that, i just thought he was tryin to trick them into doin the exact opposite! :)

  • @Phoebs2 but she put it in the left hand that time

  • @Phoebs2 What's really clever is how often we, the viewer, can see what he's doing, and how he's manipulating the subject - but they can't see it.

  • @Phoebs2 But it wasnt in the right hand, it was in the left.

  • @Phoebs2 But it was in her left that time.

  • Nah she didn't get her pound. She put her hand out for it and he gave her a cheeky laugh and said "No, I won a pound!" =D

  • did he gave her pound back?????

  • His shows are based on human behaviour which is why i find him fascinating! Can't wait to see him live in April.

  • @sweetieluver14 I'm seeing him in April too :D I'm going ton Thursday 21st :D SVENGALI 2011 :D <3

  • People need to stop over analyzing. It's not a magnetic sensing device or anything ridiculous. Watch the Heist, one of his specials. Then you'll see that he teaches the trick to the contestants and that it appears to revolve around how far you hold the coin up

  • 'touch it....touch iiitt' xD

  • will people stop putting him down? he uses no cameras here. it's going to sound a little wierd:

the way to tell which hand it is in is by watching their nose. their nose always points to the hand that the coin is in. go try it now!

  • Sort of figured it out...

  • @ryolo132 Lier. No one is believing you.

  • It's nothing to do with cameras, its all about how he talks to her, for example

"Put in the hand that feels right, and leave the hand that's left empty"

  • @ihatecrazyfrog Him saying that doesn't work though because after he's said it she puts it in the left...

  • @ihatecrazyfrog the hand the the money was in that time was the left hand

  • For those who want to know:

There's a camera behind her that can see which hand she puts it in each time (hence why he orders her to stand directly facing the crowd) with her hands behind her back.

Then the person watching the camera gives him a visual signal to say which hand it's in.

  • Every time he touched her around one of her hands. Some kind of magnetic device that can sense this at short range?

  • Derren's great - just read his brilliant, if rambling, semi-autobiographical book.

Thumbs up magicians if you actually know the method behind the second, non-psycological phase of this fantastic piece.

I hope I'm not giving too much away...

  • Why do I find him attractive!? :S

  • @KelzRoze coz he is!

    who could refuse tht goate!

  • what does the guy shout at 0:37?

  • Going to see Derren on my birthday :) second time, I can't wait :D

  • what was the song introducing that vegas fella at the end?

  • That man is Jesus.

  • Derren is a brilliant showman - he got a kiss, a pound, and got "felt up" on national tv...oh, and he did a good trick, too. Lee

  • can someone explain how did he catch Amanda for the 4th time?

  • The trick was how he stole her pound at the end.

  • What did derren tell the guy at 3:37 You look like ???? what ?

  • @pimpmymail You look like a tramp.

  • ''put it in the hand that feels RIGHTand the hand thats LEFT, empty. 5:16. and it was in the right hand. very good

  • I think the real genius of Derren Brown is how he takes a trick like this that anyone can do, which is simply this: The person always turns their nose slightly towards the hand with the coin. And deliver it in such a way that he gets people so desperate to believe in NLP and all that subconcious nonsense that they will have long arguments about all sorts of complex possibilities that are simply BS. He tells an awesome story illustrating this in one of his books.

  • Impressive.

  • Derren: Are you happy to do this? *gestures to audience on her right*

    She nods.

Nods are generally more unconscious than verbal affirmations. ; )

  • Notice the touch...

  • Derren Brown AND Lily Savage. Double treat :D

  • He is truly an amazing figure.

  • "Put it in the hand that's right, and leave the one that's left empty." :)
