@clochette67 Aznavour runs through the song as if the lyrics mean nothing, no feeling. Elivis at least gives the metaphors meaning and puts feeling where it might fit. Sometimes the original artist can only compose and not perform ERGO, Elvis to the rescue.

Love this song but thanks for making that clear. Aznavour co -wrote the song in 1974 and had huge hit with it. I still love Aznavour's version even though I was just a child when I first heard it. Elvis Costello does a great job though.
