  • DONNIE DARKO!!!!

  • thanks for responding so quickly what is the thread size that i can attach to the adapter can it be any lens

  • @blastlaughs the adapter is assembled using the EOS mount, because it can be converted easily to most other lens mount types. So pretty much any SLR lens will fit. We simply recommend fast speed lenses. f0.95 to f2.8.

  • hi i have a canon vic=xia hf r20 its thread size is 34mm but i bought a 37 mm step up ring will this adapter still fit also do you guys still make this product because ive been looking for one for a while and all the low cost ones are discontinued

  • @blastlaughs Yes as long as it has a 37mm step ring it will work fine with the EnCinema Adapter. They are still available for sale on our site. Go to the vid-atlantic (dot) com website. Thanks for watching.

  • Sorry, 46mm

  • Is this lens compatible with panasonic hdc sd700?

    The thread size is 44mm

  • @FingerTard Yes since it has a 46mm front filter thread, the EnCinema will work fine. It might need a set of macro filters as some panasonics need assistance, but this ends up giving better results anyways and its recommended to use them anyway. Thanks!

  • is this compatible with a nikkor 35mm or 55mm?

  • @sophiahparkk Yes, using the optional Nikon converter that we have available, you can use both Canon EOS and Nikon mount lenses on the EnCinema adapter. Check our Vid-Atlantic web site. Thanks!

  • Can I use it in HDC-TM 90 camcorder?? I haven't found information about it...

    *Thanks :-)

  • @Sigfofosauer Thanks for your interest. Does the TM90 have a front filter thread? If so, then yes, it will work. It may just need a step ring and some simple macro filters, but nothing major. Thanks again.

  • @VidAtlantic Thanks again. I need some 41.5 mm step up ring for that particular model :-(, I found that info after posting my question. I'll try to find it, I really would like that video quality in my amateur videos :-)

  • @Sigfofosauer yeah, thats a strange size. We'll see if we can track down a 41.5mm step ring of some sort.

  • have you used some kind of stabilization?

  • @vitezkoja88 yes some shots were used with the Merlin steadicam.

  • I hear the lenses are static, how does a static 35mm compare to say a Letus Mini

  • @xTurnipTimex Not a huge difference in the end image result to merit the huge price difference between the EnCinema & the Letus. Infact, we shot a music video using both the Letus on an EX1 ($6000 complete kit) and the EnCinema 35 on a Canon HF100 ($700 complete kit). Hardly anyone could tell. When they did see a difference, most liked the look of the EnCinema more because it had more cinematic & dramatic shallow depth of field. Needless to say that video went on to win an MTV VMA Moon man!

  • What camera was used for the making of this?

  • @VideodromeFilms We used the Canon HF100 for this video. Thanks for watching!

  • @VidAtlantic What's the difference between the HF100 and the HF R100? Would the R100 work with the adapter as well?

    Thanks.

  • @VideodromeFilms The HF R 100 does NOT have front filter threads to mount our adapter on to. In fact you wont be able to mount any sort of filter on the Canon HF R series cameras. We're not sure why Canon did that.

  • lol donnie darko

  • I have a Canon Legria Hf 200, will it work with the adapter?

And are there any problems with full HD, because i´ve heard about lower quality with an adapter? Thanks alot

  • @nelaqua Hi, the HF200 is a similar to the older HF100 except the HF200 has a higher bit rate and a few other bells and whistles, so the adapter will work just fine with it. And yes, sort of...with ALL 35mm adapters you will sacrifice a bit of clarity for style. In the end everyone will tell you that it is well worth it. You can not achieve the cinematic depth on a camera like that without the 35mm adapter.

  • Wow very cool film look!

I love the music in this also, does anyone know what music it is? :)

  • @streetgeezer thanks! The music is from movie soundtrack Donnie Darko.

  • @VidAtlantic Ah, great :) thank you very much!

  • I am assuming the adapter can work with the canon hv40 as well?

  • @vVetervanVv Yes of course! Great camera BTW!!

  • @vVetervanVv Yes of course! Great camera BTW!!

  • Is Your adapter compatible with lower level camcorders like the Sanyo VPC-GH2 or The DXG 5b1v? If Not what are some of the lower grade camcorders that I can use your adapter with Under $200? Thanks A Million!!

  • @ThePushBravo It seems that the camera you listed do not have front fiter threads for our adapter to mount to. Without the threads, there is no way of attaching it.

It also seems that most cameras in the $200 range dont have filter threads either, but if you find one let us know. You may be better off finding a slightly used Canon HV20 or HV30 and we can help you by giving a discount on the adapter. I hope this info helps.

  • Hi, will it work with a Panasonic HDC-HS60?

  • @ampedvideo Does the Panasonic HS60 have filter diameter threads? I cant seem to find that info anywhere when I researched it. Something like a 37mm, 43mm or 46mm front lens diameter to accept filters? If so, yes it will work with our adapter.

  • I have just purchased a panasonic tm700. Will this camera work too? Sorry -- this question must be getting old for you ;)

  • @davron81 Haha, no its okay, we like helping people make good looking films...it doesnt get old at all. And yes, the adapter works with the TM700. Contact us at info at vid-atlantic com for more info about that camera and our adapter. Thanks!

  • hey, will this work with Sony HD handycam HDR-SR5? Please let me know!

  • @aragornkid Yes, since the HDR SR5 has a 37mm filter mount our adapter will work great with it!

  • Would this work with an XH A1, if so, where could i get oneÉ

  • @splatskateandsnow2 I'm sorry to say that our adapter does not work with your camera. Right now it only works with smaller consumer grade HD or DV cameras as they are able to macro focus so closely on the ground glass within our adapter.

If you have a smaller DV or HD camera please let us know and we may be able to offer you a discount on the purchase of the adapter.

  • Hi, Would this work with a sanyo FH1? it has a 37mm thread if not i was think of getting a HV30 anyway

  • @jg122 Yes, since it has 37mm filter diameter, it will work just fine. Also the HV30 has a 43mm and definitely works great with our adapter! We use the HV30 often!

  • Way to go with the Donnie Darko music :D

  • i really like the music could you give me the list of music you used?

  • @Darius12235 its basically a bunch of tracks from the movie "Donnie Darko". Great movie and soundtrack!!

  • @simonlomas Yes, it will work great with the HF20. The WD h37II will then need to be mounted to the photographic lens. You will only need, your HF20, an EOS lens and our adapter. No other accessories needed. Pretty simple!

  • hi,

    really good job!

does the adapter work on Sony HDR HC1 ?

  • hi,

    really good job!

does the adapter work on Sony HDR HC1 ?

  • Will this adapter work on a Panasonic DVX100A?

  • @cheapmike I'm sorry to say that this adapter does not work with your camera. We are working on a pro version for the larger lens cameras hopefully to be ready in the coming months. Right now it only works with smaller consumer grade HD or DV cameras as they are able to macro focus so closely on the ground glass within our adapter. If you have a smaller camera, please let us know as we may be able to offer a discount in the mean time. Thanks again!

  • donnie darko music XD

  • I have a JVC Everio GZ-MG21. Will I need any extra acessories to use the adapter on my camera?

    Thanks.

  • @kklmjk Yes, the MG21 has a 30.5mm filter diamter so it will work just fine with our adapter. But since it is a JVC camera you will need a det of macro close up filters (a +1,+2 and +4 kit runs about $15 on eBay. You will need all 3 pieces to help your camera macro focus so closely on the ground glass within the adapter. Email us if you have any questions or if you need more help. Thanks for yor interest!

  • @VidAtlantic Hello, thanks for your response, I have just checked now on ebay and they sell the kits in 55MM, 58MM, 67MM, and 77MM, which one is better to go with the adapter.

    Regards.

  • will this work with "budget" cameras. (i have a canon hv30)

  • @MichaelLeroi Yes, this video was shot with a budget camera...the Canon HF100. We actually use the EnCinema adapter on the HV30 most of time as well.

  • @VidAtlantic thank you :)

  • With that music I was just waiting for some freaky shit to happen; the DOF adapter just, god damn, does it ever bring it to life.

  • Hi will this work with a JVC GZ HD7U

  • Yes, it works great with the JVC cameras. Some of the best results have been with the EnCinema 35 adapter on the JVC HD7 since they need to utilize a macro close up filter kit and it helps lessen the vignetting. Email us if you want more info about it. Thanks for your interest!

  • Donnie Darko's soundtrack U_U

  • Hi!

    i have a question

when we shoot with this adapter the image turns upside down isn't?

how i can put my image to watch it normal?

    sorry for my crappy english

  • When shooting hand held, you can hold the camera upside down. Or shoot with an external LCD screen and flip that upside down, this is the most common way. There are a few mods out there...what kind of camera do you have?

  • I have a Sony HVR-HD1000

  • Yeah, according to the specs the EnCinema 35mm adapter works great with this camera.

  • Thanks for answer

  • hi. are you using any filters on the footage at 2:00 or is it all done in post.

    thanks

  • Hi, no filters, just the EnCinema 35mm DOF adapter, a 50mm lens and a bit of color grading in post editing.

  • This is amazing.

I would love to buy one of these adapters. I just have a few questions.

What do you need specifically if you buy an adapter? I have still photography camera with a couple of lenses, a 50mm one and a 28mm wide angle lens. If I bought an adapter do you think I would be able to use them lenses for my video camera?

  • Thanks Riazomonero! No, you wont need anything else. Just your camera, a Canon EOS / EF mount lens and our adapter.

    A good lens that we recommend is a Canon EF(EOS) 50mm f1.8

If you want to use Nikon lenses then you'll need a Nikon to EOS converter. We sell the converter for $20.

  • Ah right.

You know for this particular video, what equipment did you use?

It's just that the way the images look on this video is very similar to how I want images to look for my projects. You know with the depth of field and the striking colours.

Sorry to be a pain, but do you know where I can get the Canon EOS / EF mount lens from?

I know I will have to get myself one of the compatible video cameras sometime.

    Thanks for your help.

  • The equipment in this video was a Canon HF100 ($400 used) an EnCinema 35mm DOF Adapter ($199) and a Canon 50mm f1.8 EF lens ($100). I bought the lens at B and H photo and every camera shop has this lens. Its a very common and standard portrait lens. The complete kit for this was about $700 total.

  • Hi there, are you able to adjust the apperture with your 50mm lens/adapter?

  • No, the iris settings are adjusted in the lens (lens dependent) or the video camera. The adapter simple allows you to loose photographic lenses properly. Thanks!

  • thanks!

would a follow focus allow me to adjust this?

  • Yes, follow focus units work great. Try one from IndiFocus Tell them that we sent you!

  • great! thanks for your responses!

  • Yeah ive been thinking of buying a HV30 or HF100 or XL1s, but i cant make up my mind!

    lol.

  • By far, without a doubt, the very best is the HV30. Especially for the money. I got one for $500 now that the HV40 is out.

  • which camera is this shot with?

  • This was shot with the Canon HF100 using the EnCinema 35mm dof adapter and a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. Complete kit was about $750 usd total.

  • I love the way most of this stuff is shot by enthusiasts... Put it in the hands of a pro!

  • ah! nice donnie darko music.

  • samsung mx-20?

    no way

  • Comment removed

  • all right all right calm the fuck down

  • Will this work with the JVC GZ-HD7?

  • Yes it of course it will work on the HD7. You'll just need to take off the lens hood on the HD7. Thanks for checking it out!

  • hi, I like your DOF adapter, could I use it with a sony PD170?

    Thanks

  • No, sorry. We are working on a slightly larger pro model for this though. Spring of 2009. Thanks for checking it out!

  • Shoot a sample footage with wide angle lens and I will buy it :)

  • looking good but not convincing due to low-light problems. Sometimes it is greyish/too dark like the rest. This 35mm adapter is really cool and I see some very good scenes.

  • Thanks for checking it out. The shots were adjusted in post to fit the mood of the track. The other EnCinema videos are brighter.

  • what's the name of the track(s)?

  • Its a mix of all the soundtrack music from the movie Donnie Darko. Thanks for checking it out.

  • Thanks, I thought it sounded familiar.
