o ma gosh my uncle told me about this when he was watching it with my older brother when he was little and ever since then i wanted to watch this part man i miss this show Oatmeal YIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIP lol
I think it was Henson and Jerry Nelson in the earlier skits. Henson wasn't usually around to do it later on and here of course he's playing Ernie, so I'm not sure who it is. Maybe Marty Robinson. Pretty sure one of them was almost always Nelson, though.
i saw parts of Ses. St 15 years ago. When i realized the show began in 1969 i started watching clips here on youtube. I must say after all the clips i have seen from kermit to cookie to grover and the blue guy, i cant think of anybody else that made tv better than the way frank oz and jim henson changed the face of children television. Im sure there isnt a person who watched the show that doesnt know their names. it can only imagine how sad a year it was when Jim passed away. Rest in peace Jim!
I remember forcing myself to laugh after watching this one, and running upstairs just "to be around people."
The SS ep that really creeped me out was when they kept hearing the theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey from out of nowhere. They didn't know where it was coming from, and it ended up being something random about balloons. I don't know why, but that 2001 theme and the old HBO theme music have always given me the creeps.
MKD825, I thought I was the only one who remembered that episode with the balloons! I was so scared of it I would hide behind the couch when it came on, not that it would help because I could still hear music. Did you ever find out what episode that was? I'm dying to know and I've searched everywhere for it.
No, I wish I knew! All I remember is that Gordon was the human featured heavily in that ep, and maybe Maria too. It was so random, balloons and the theme to 2001... some Sesame Street expert must know what we're talking about! :)
I remember this clip having an impact on me. Not just because of how the room was shaking, but how it encourages a vivid imagination. And Ernie describing the Yip Yip Martians is classic! 5-Stars!
Haa!!!!! That's it!!! Man it seriously has been about 23-25 years since I've seen that clip. Awesome!! I'll keep a look out for the other Bert And Ernie clip with the drums. Thanks!!
I use my download manager (which has a special "save Flash Video content" option) to do the same thing...and have ended up with enough saved clips to need a second hard drive. :-)
Never talk about the martians, they'll come after you!

This sketch scared the Hell out of me when it aired. I fucking hated those screebling, dangly things with their staring eyes and monstrous overbites.

This and the one where the statue taps him in the Egyptian pyramid were the scariest SS clips when I was a kid!

Odd thing I noticed. the end music is the same as the ones from the Twiddle bug segments.

Also, it was the music that opened the "Martians Meet the Clock" skit.

It's incredible - just when I think I've probably seen them all, another classic gets posted that takes me back 25+ years! Thanks!!!

Love this one! You gotta love Ernie's childlike story telling, and how the Yip Yips took Bert up on a bowl of oatmeal. Genius!
