The 8/229 I believe is the last 229th battalion left. I was in the first one formed 4/229th we were the ones who came up with the name and requested the association's blessing. Our inception ceremony at Ft. Hood had many of them attend. We caried the "flying tiger with the V" on the tails below the tail numbers. As far as teeth, they were never approved. We wanted to put them on, but the brass said no.
What a video! It is so exhilarating to see this! My boyfriend also flies these. I wish I could fly with him. I have deep respect and admiration for these guys/girls who fly and serve our country, both of the past and the current!
As a previous tiger myself, not sure if i should post what my job was but......... it was one of the greatest experiences of my life and i wish them all the best of everything.
This video was created as part of the 8-229th "Flying Tiger Recruiting Campaign" in 2007. The video footage is external. The unit is proud of it's Flying Tiger Heritage and blessings from the original AVG and Bruce "Snake" Crandell, Medal of Honor US Army, whom the 8-229th draws lineage o through the growing and contraction of Army Organization.
The Flying Tigers are about to deploy, and as a Flying Tiger Soldier, although no longer with the unit, God Bless, Godspeed, and "Whatever Dude."
remmy we had the teeth on them in Iraq but higher ups made us remove it...maybe not to give away unit pos. I have this unit patch tattooed On my arm and my service in this unit was some of the best times in my Army career
@sethgreen1979 Very cool info. Thanks for your service. Man must have been a thrill to serve as a Flying Tiger. I was reading the unit's history and I love the part that in 88 you guys were given the blessing of the AVG pilots.
I can give it 2 them, these r some good videos but its not all the 8/229th. Alot of those birds were from boeing video and 8/229th should have tiger sharks teeth on there aircraft seein how the 229th avn regt is the only unit in the army that has been allowed by the F.T.A.( Flying Tiger Association) to acually have them on there aircraft. The video was good but if they are goin 2 label a video, a flying tiger video make sure it is real photage because im proud of bein a former 1/229 flying tiger

Awesome video, once I muted the AC/DC garbage. For best results, play this video to Disturbed's "Indestructible".
