@hod05 Look up "dynamic similitude speed". It is scale speed for models, and part of that includes scaling time. Linear scale is only useful for dimensions. applying it to any sort of model gives bogus results. Play this video 12x slower and it'd be exactly like the real thing (asides from range, accuracy, etc.)
@kotori87 Similitude is used to predict how a real ship hull will behave and how much force is required to power it at a given speed by using a model this is with the idea of simulating pressure, density and flow at full size to calculate power required the model can often go faster than full size hence scaling down using this method will not give u scale speed for the model u said it ur self 12x slower would look better+wouldn't it be easier to aim? anyway cool models nice idea with gun cam
I'm thinking about getting one but one problem: What if you make all the cannons fire at once? If you fire straight then you will hit another cannon. I'm not really good at programming (I'm 9 :P) and my dad is gonna build the ship
@DiVeronica Quite regularly, which is why we follow strict safety rules and wear safety glasses. I usually get nailed about once per battle day. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
@Larsnerf5555 HMS Rodney fires the biggest RC naval cannons allowed, 1/4" diameter steel ball bearings. Other ships get smaller sizes based on their historical armament, down to .177" (4mm) bbs. We follow strict safety rules and testing, and naturally safety glasses are required.
That "L" Shaped tube comeing off the ship that rammed you at about 5:20 , is that a cannon or a watter pump, watching your videos, i've notice that ships with that on it dont seem to use their actual cannons.
@Gariel2007 That is a cannon that has not been trimmed down to scale height or given a turret cover yet. It will have that gear soon, though, and we try to avoid having "naked" cannons like that.
@kotori87 I laughed because I saw that the Rodney was cursing through the water and very few ships came even within sight of her. ( at least from the camera view )
@MegaTechnomaster Strike Models is currently developing Big Gun style cannons. I recently saw a prototype and it's very impressive. Unfortunately they're not quite ready for mass production yet.
All this fighting between my Heavy Cruiser Haguro and the Battleship Rodney ended me up sunk. You can see me there on the video "Wrecks of Balsa Bottom Sound". I must learn the ways of the torpedo. Sneak, not bungle. A torpedo cruiser needs to act like a ninja, move in silently, attack and retreat before the enemy can react.
That's me in the IJN Haguro making those botched attacks. I one I did perfectly I fired and found my guns weren't armed. The perfect attack is the one where my bow and the HMS Rodeny's bow touch (1:47). My torpedoes are to the rear of the ship by the aft turrets and you can see I brought them right alongside his bow. Had they fired, he would have been taking water as his bow wave pushed it in at speed. Unfortunately I let him have a shot at me on the way in although I don't know if he hit.
@DantehMan For some reason, the pond was an unusually noise RF environment today. All of Ben's boats had radio issues of some sort or another, and a number of other skippers with 2.4ghz radios completely lost signal.
