  • @ursanduelan44 Awesome. Tell us more.

  • I am just going to throw this out there, i am 14 and I would guarantee that if you were to pull a random person off the street, I would know more about country music- real country music like this- than them. I really wish that we had more people like this singing out there today instead of just hearing "baby baby baby" over and over and over again.

    LONG LIVE THE HIGHWAYMEN!

  • Johnny Cash, my hero!

  • cool I'm 18 years schoolgirl!very little and playful!Kiss Kiss

  • Loved this song when I was child still love it!

  • This song was written by Merle Kilgore and June Carter. Merle Kilgore is a very close friend of the Williams family. He managed Hank Jr.'s career for a long time.

  • Miss Johnny Cash. Should of had a couple of trumpet players for this song.

  • i love u johnny waylon willie and kris listened to u since i was jus a child. god bless u

  • What a line-up of great artist the best

We are never going to see anything of this magnitude in music from modern musicians ever again

  • My Man In Black!

  • the almighty god must be listening to some great music!!!RIP johnny cash!!!

  • it would have kool if hank sr was apart of this group

  • These guys were awesome together. Johnny will always be my favorite musical artist period - and I am not a big country music fan.

  • And they way they were, the four of them, can never be made again. Not too many old time country men left in the music. I am just happy their music lives on.

  • The thing that made Jennings so unique is that he wasn't old time C&W. He began life as a rock musician with Buddy Holly. He then moved into C&W singing standard fair that eventually changed to Outlaw Country (a distinctively non-Nashville sound). He then blended traditional C&W music with rock, honky tonk, and blues to create the path for Garth Brooks and modern C&W musicians. Jennings was absolutely unique and grossly undervalued as a musical genius.

  • Kriss

    Waylon

    Johnny

    Willie

    we love you forever!!!

  • Yep. Good gents that went to Heaven.

  • ma moitié ma di ce ke signifi les paroles et cé tou à fé vrai ce kil chante encore merci ma moitié gros bisous jtm fort

  • A timeless song. these men bridge the gap between generations!

  • Mr. Nelson

    Mr. Kristofferson

    Mr. Jennings

    Mr. Cash

...these men earned the distinction of being called Mr.

    sure miss Waylon and Johnny...

The Highwaymen are just too good!!

  • absolutely.

  • @GuitarMan027 Waylon's gone?? OMG.. i didn't even know. Guess i'll have to go look it up

  • @adarkenedmind ya man...he died of cancer

  • @gohanrules2 Actually, Waylon died from complications of diabetes

  • @witiuk whoops, my bad

  • @gohanrules2 The reason I remember it so well is that he was here in Albuq. for a concert about a year before he passed away and later had to have his leg amputated. Pretty much went down hill from there...

  • @witiuk johnny died from diabetes cmplications

  • @Nakhio Yes. Cash also died from complications of diabetes

  • @GuitarMan027 - I have to agree - We are so lucky to be able to listen to them

  • No EGOS here with these guys!

  • So effortless!!!Just having fun.

  • Someone asked 4months ago if any one sung this song on Idol....Adam Lambert did. Not impressed.

  • Don't worry, none of us were impressed with that woman... err guy.

  • todays muscians cant live up to legends like the highway men!

  • no one can fill there shoes, there is a few that keep carrying the "torch" though. Very few though.

  • george jones "whose gonna fill their shoes"

  • NOBODY!!!!!

  • That's why the Highwaymen will never die. Local stations here play things like "Mandatory Merle Monday" and the rest of the days you hear classics like this.

  • All of today's music artists should watch this...they might learn something

  • Is that J.R. Cobb (of the Classics IV and Atlanta Rhythm Section) playing the accoutic?

  • oh i love this song so much

  • What a great line up of talent

  • One of the worlds greatest song, maybe the finest...

  • My parents got me into country and the highway men, i love it!! what legends all four of them are, johnny and waylon deeply missed.x

  • Johnny Cash...The Best ever!

    Damn right.

  • Oh Johnny........... I love you!

  • my dad let me listen to this song 20+ years ago, highwaymen.

    its still my favorite!

  • Anel de Fogo em português, uma bela musica country norte-americana! The Highwaymen, a melhor banda da america do norte!

  • thanks so much Slasheri

  • As always, my favorite..

  • Aaaaaah love it! My fav Johnny Cash song!

  • Must be his fav song...since it was written by his wife about the two of them. ;-))

  • @ceboiatoo You are right...It was written before they were married, but when Johnny & the Carter Family were playing together. They were both married to others, but wildly in love without being able to do anything about it at the time.....Songs of my childhood.

  • Top this! Ah the good ole days ! May we make them proud!

  • Comment removed

  • Who would've thought it...as soon as I asked that question, someone performed it....Egyptian style?

Johnny must have hung his head and cried.

  • curse u for asking it

  • curse you for cursing. you need a time out.

  • What does everyone think of this song? Has a contestent on American Idol ever performed it?

  • I don't know but they probably shouldn't. I wouldn't want to see it ruined.

  • the dude that did it was absolutely ridiculous...ruined the song...even simon was like wtf

  • i know how could he do that

  • Comment removed

  • Johnny ist der Beste!!

  • i dont care what people say i think WAYLON JENNINGS is still the bestsinger/guitarist/outlaw country singer ever!!!!

  • You're damn right!! Big Hoss

  • this has been a great help

    thanks

  • Good Bless Johnny Cash!

I Love Johnny and his music, it really touch my heart to hear him sing his songs. If I could I would take Johnny back here, the world and the music isin't the same without him. I really miss Johnny, he was so sweet and funny. I wish it was the 60's ...

  • bery good

  • As much as I love this song, the electric piano just cheapens the whole sound. A couple of genuine trumpet players would have worked so much better.

  • wtf? ppl are downing this comment but its true, not that this version is bad but the song does sound better with some brass

  • The King is dead, long live the King;-)

  • why does that youtube bullshit squeeze this? they keep 'improving' it, morons.

  • even with the pianos is was GREAT

  • Legendary song! But elertic pianos SUCK! Luckly, the song is good enough to balance it down to demote from legendary to great. :D Great version!

  • jonny cash is a ledgend

    he walked the line ;)

  • Just cannot get enough of Johnny. He is an inspiration and a

    legend.

  • he is ledgen long live johnny cash

  • Ahem, he's dead.

    You mean rip.

  • hahhaha

  • yeah he's a legend

    rip

    he passed away already btw.

  • I wonder if any other stage has ever had that much talent on it at one time.

  • Nope, never.

  • I'm lucky i have this show on dvd!!

  • The best version there is!

  • Great version of this song, different key and arrangement this time, makes it sound fresh again! I love the bit at the end where Kristopherson smiles and points at JC, as if to say "You're the man"- so cool!

  • you're right. the arrangement is terrific. and kristopherson admired and loved JC. it's evident every time you see them together. still miss JC.

  • god dam it i feckin love this song.

  • favourite cash song, good version.

  • I cried 2weeks when johnny cash died...God rest his soul...never be another

  • Johnny war der Beste!

  • oh how much i love johnny cash. he is an inspiration and i just cant get enough of his music. what a man.a legend.

  • Country Legends; there the best! fuck the rest

  • Why can't there be any country singers like these guys. Shooter and Hank Jr. are our last hope

  • hell yes, i agree, but its more of a southern rock/country, but i love it

  • he is a legend!!!!

  • love watching JC play!

  • Who the hell doesn't???

  • go johnny go!

and it burns burns burns the ring of fire

  • Thanks Slasheri for these gems from The Highwaymen.Johnny Cash is a personal favourite.

  • you people don't have a sense of humor. I like the song...and love the highwaymen.

  • well you can be almost sure that everything in that movie that happened, happened in real life.. His son wrote the move... and it wasent this song he proposed to her.. It was Jackson. He said that he couldent continue until she married him because it would be like he was lying.

  • if the movie walk the line is really how it went he acctually proposed to her during this song and refused to finish it unless he got his awnser from her

  • The song was Jackson.
