It's all a big euphemism.

Stella says "will you please ask your daddy if he'll come home and stuff the turkey tonight", meaning if he will come home and make love to her. And Charlie answers "it's too late for that Julie. It's been in he freezer too long", meaning it's too late to do anything for their relation and that she is cold, insensitive and frigid.

You probably don't care 6 months later, but there it is :)

In one of their live shows there's a Charlie and Stella scene and at the end they say Julie drowned in the bath when she was a kid, something like that anyway, and they always just acted like she was still alive. It's a shame they never did a scene like that in the TV show because it seemed too throwaway on stage.
