An impromptu "Talk To Dorothy Day" (minus Joel Rose and Jenny Crimm) from a long time ago. Now sadly even the young anchor on the left in this video- Ted Henry- is retiring.
Where did she get some of those clothes. She reminds me of Kitty Carlisle and Arlene Francis decked out in chiffon and rubies to play a silly little panel game.
The only weatherguys named Don that come to mind right now are Webster (from these videos) and longtime Portsmouth NBC affiliate WAVY meteorologist Don Slater.
Wow I'm really enjoying the old Cleveland news clips. Takes me back to my early years! I think the reason why I'm such a news junkie today is because the anchors in Cleveland were always such professionals, I have really high standards and expect a lot from news anchors here in L.A. but they all seem to fall short of the bar I have set so high because I grew up watching Cleveland news.

Ted Henry (back in the day without toupee) is really terrified in this clip that the senile old bat will really do something to embarrass WEWS Channel 5. The day she keeled over in her office they breathed a sigh of relief.
He actually had a rug back then. When I started work there, they told me, "Never make Ted nervous, or his hair will slide around!" Dorothy was a sweetie in her dotage, despite being a bit forgetful.
Yes, I recall that the late Plain Dealer writer Mary Strassmeyer penned a poignant article of her passing for her column "Mary Mary." With the exception of Fred Griffith there are few left from that era.
Oh Dorothy. Lord love her. She was AWESOME!

Dorothy: smart and an individual. She interviewed Hitler.

Where did Jenny Crimm go to? She had the most beautiful smile, and personality, and was very down to earth.

What is girlfriend wearing?

@mrsgarrettrocks she was wearing the usual garb of a 90-something Clevelander in mid-summer. And yes, Mrs. Garrett does surely rock.

I love Dorothy saying in deadpan voice, "He told me it was going to be cool today."

You don't see too many "Dorothy"'s on the air anymore, and that's too bad.

Pros, perhaps...but not afraid to have a few laughs. It was a simpler time. I still miss it.

Definitely not afraid to have a few laughs...and when you met them in person...just as nice as could be....most of them.

She passed away in a nursing home (Jennings), not at the station..

That REALLY good quality for such an old news clip! We always had the best tech here in Cleveland

...And I worked with 'em! We had one of the first live helicopters...we take it for granted today but back then it was quite the deal.

Oh my God, I'm beginning to think Ted wore a toupee back in Kent State! I wonder if I can still contact Don Webster. (LOL)
