  • ... Shouldn't HE be the gun to HER holster?

  • Hey, just to say, I'm french and, in my country, there's a song called "Celui" by Colonel Reyel. For those who are a bit curious and want to waste 3 minutes of their time, search and listen.

They sound (and look) exactly the same ! Seriously, that's magic.

  • I would love to see Todd review that awful song Iyaz did with "Hannah Montana".

  • @VinylDelusion The only group you mentioned that I know is JLS........I have no idea who the rest are. Is it because they're not that popular yet, or am I just out of the loop again?

  • The dime comment is calling her a 10, just so you know

  • Rucka Rucka Ali's parody is much better, even if it is a little historically inaccurate.

  • Eh...well, when a song plays in my head it does play on a very short loop. :S And the gun to my holster...I honestly didn't think that was a sexual refrence. I don't know what I thought it was but...maybe a gun =...trusty? I'm probably streaching this too much in an attempt to keep anything sexual out of this cute little song. xD

  • i thought it was "eyeballs stuck on replay"

  • i actually like this song too, if only because a nice song i can dance to because it's a guy who actually cares about his girl. but then again i was just listening to "sexy bitch" so...yeah.

  • whats the song at the end?

  • @Itsme4746

Over And Over by Dave Clark Five

  • @Suisei Thanks

  • Gun to his hostler?

I think it goes the other way, Iyaz.

  • omg i toatally love iyaz hey man if u didnt like it u should try so big by iyaz or i think a love ya i hope iyaz makes more songs im a guy an his tunes bring emotion to me when i hear any song by him but weird thing is first time i hered him on tv i thought he was called ne-yo but soon atleast a week i was told his stage name an dude ur vids r awsome an yh i like beyonce but some her tunes r bull crap i love her new song best thing i never had

  • Iyaz Akhtar would disagree on "Iyaz" not being a name ;)

  • Hi Wentworth Miller in the Mariah Carey video

  • Whats the song at the end?

  • I think more people have heard "Don't Be a Player Haiti" than "Replay".

  • Iyaz played at my high school, singing this song, and I was like "who?".

Meanwhile, I was listening to "Wrong Side" by Strapping Young Lad, which made me completely not care that there was a "celebrity" at my school.

  • @Bassbait Devin makes everything else obsolete.

  • @JimBillBumblefuck By a long shot. Even his poppy stuff is more catchy than pop music, not to mention it's just better in every possible way. Also, when he collaborates with Gene Hoglan, nothing can go wrong.

  • *remembers that video of Obama singing this...*

  • @MoGaDeX Is there really a video of him singing it? ;P

  • @cavgurl07 Search for this: "Obama Sings to the Shawties" and it should the video.

  • this song is so fucking bland it makes no attempt to bring anything new to the table

  • "Emby Mallay? That's not a name, that's a bad Scrabble hand!" Sorry, instantly thought of MST3K when you mentioned Scrabble.

  • I have this song on my iPod, but I barely listen to it.

  • "That's not a name, that's an invalid Scrabble move!"

You are seriously making my day with these reviews, Todd. :D

  • HEY!

  • 6:15 -- Tone Loc-y? Tony Lock? Toné Loc? Tone Loco?

Also, does anybody else think Sean "Fat Albert" Kingston looks like the kid from Good Burger?

  • The progression of lyrics to "I'm in the kitchen cookin' things she likes" sounds like a Weird Al song about whipped boyfriends. XD

  • I have to say, it IS nice to hear a guy singing about how he likes a girl, and maybe even wants to marry her.....rather than just f*ck her. :P

  • @Aorenai That's what I like about the song, too. :D

  • @Aorenai Absolutely. Most of the songs i hear now are about cheating..or sex...or breaking up...I dont like this song all that much, but it is very refreshing... e.e

  • @Aorenai meh.

  • i would like to hear you review Shots by LMFAO =]

  • That bit at 2:56 always freaks me out!

  • Jay Sean and Iyaz are foreign, but one is from England and the other from the virgin isles (part of UK).

  • is it just me, or if u rearrange the letters and didn't know it was an I, wouldn't it spell lazy?

  • I really thought this was a Sean Kingston song, that makes this guy even more mediocre if you ask me, but then again as you said in your "eenie meenie" review Sean Kingston is at least a doofus and therefore a bit more memorable.

  • Really? I thought Kingston was a pre-teen as well.

  • @YaoiHuntressEarth I check Wikipedia, Iyaz is three years older than Kingston. Kingston is 20.

  • Maybe "She's a dime" means "She's a ten". As in a dime being worth ten cents...What a lame song.

  • Maybe the "gun to my holster" metaphor is backwards because she wears the pants?

5:24 Annnnndddd I see that J.R. Rotem was involved in this one too. Interesting.

    Eeyore! <3

    Ugh. I don't like Akon.

  • Who is that woman, anyway? I could swear I've seen her before, somewhere...

  • @obsidian179 everywhere.

  • Aye!!

  • "Gun to my holster"

...yeah, I think I can guess who the man is once the curtains close.

  • Listen to the clap sound in this song.

It was made with fucking FL Studio.

  • my friend pointed out something that is vaguely creepy, at 4:40 he talks about how the girl "is a dime" which could be interpreted that she's underage and worth ten years in jail. IYAZ, pop music for pedophiles lol

  • @dr12thfret You know what's funnier? He say's "She's a dime, THEY SAY"

THEY SAY! His friends are trying to warn him that she's underage!

  • @uneek35 No a dime is a perfect 10/10 so the joke is the Eyez never saw the girl hes mentioning.

  • Lulz, that Eeyroe reference was cute.

Seriously, if I could wipe any type of song, it would be these douchy, generic, R&B songs about love that sound like every other song

  • That poster part made me laugh out loud so hard I had spittle on my keyboard. I'm a bit embarrassed, seeing as I'm at school.

  • I agree, they should bring the boy bands back. The names for these pop and rap artists are getting ridiculous.

  • Man, I just started listening to the pop radio stations, and then in the past few days I've been watching these reviews. Hilarious that I've never heard of any of the songs, less then a year after their release.

  • This song is like "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something, it's so bland that when it's on, you forget that you're listening to music, causing it to fade into the furniture and walls.

  • ve your jokes! :>

  • Lol, you were so spot on with this video, Todd. I agree with your sentiment about bringing the boy bands back rather than keeping this kind of stuff on the radio.

Also, transcribe audio brings a new level of win to this video. "Michael runneth over"? lulz.

  • The three haters were probably listening to this song.

  • @cokeacolazzz And its stuck on replay!

  • Urban dictionary says "a dime" is a 10/10 girl.

Also could be a few grams of pot.

You decide what he meant though -_-

I would love to know what "railroad white" means though.

  • @rebornstar26 jrock, you're pretty epic fail.

  • i like that hes not so macho. the song is dumb but fun.

  • It's about a girl who gets a song stuck in a guys head and he cant get it out.

(she is the one who broke his Ipod!) Think about.

  • I think it's IH-yaaz [ɪjɑz].

  • The part about the dime means she is a 10.

  • @swordandsignals and the part about being the gun to his holster means they're into some odd sexual stuff. Talk amongst yourselves.

  • @TheGreatATuin42 Close, but it means that they are like "two peas in a pod."

  • Do you know the parody Rucka Rucka Ali did of this song? Its racist but actually entertaining.

  • lol I actually thought this song was by Akon.

  • "that girl, is dime ( a dozen ) they say" .

his friends say she's nothing special . just thought i'd clear that up. its more of rappers leaving out words.

  • aaaaaaaa this song is in my head AAAAAAAA ive..listened to this soo many times...ugh..ive gone insane

  • I heard this song a few times and really digged the chorus, but that was the only part of it I could remember.

  • Wait...Kingston is 19?! Won't say my age, but I look way older than him.

  • Dime means like... A very good looking female as in a perfect ten.

  • oh god. bad memories. You think you can't stand this just by hearing it on the radio? I need to listen to my ENTIRE grade ( 7th freaking grade) singing the same freaking song over for a year straight. Effing kill me.

  • "Gun to my hollister"???

Being the dirty minded little fuck-face I am, that kind of translates to...naughty bits. But he's the hollister? Why's he the chick in this relationship? D:

  • @ThatRandomBeatle Oh.My.God. I have thought "shouldnt it be the other way around? Thank you, for letting me know im not the only one who thinks this.

  • It's just shameful the way some people act nowadays. U know how I know Thera life out there on other planets? None of it has tried to contact us.

  • Gun to my holster. That sounds so sexual only the girl should be saying it. So I'm confused.

  • @queenofhearts17 Guys can get away with saying some of the dumbest $#%&.

  • You and me both, DemonicRemption.

  • @ZoanBlade90 Oh goodie and here I thought I was being smug, cold, and bitter for disliking the fact that people just adore songs like this one regardless of how many times subjects are repeated in not so unique ways.

  • "How does it sound on the radio? It sounds like everything else on the radio."

I hate this world we live in...

  • @DemonicRemption And the fact that they are on the mainstream radio is the only reason why people like it.

  • @MakDakProductions That can't be true, because that is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard... But then again there's nothing that can dispute that argument... So Mak, how does it feel to know that the people who like mainstream crap like this are basically puppets?

  • @DemonicRemption They are puppets, used by record companies to make money.I meant that most mainstream fans only like mainstream because it's popular. Most kids only like songs like this because they are popular. They don't care about the quality of the music anymore.

  • @MakDakProductions Oh do f--king tell dude... I saw a comment on the "Official Reply Video" stating that "Replay" was real music... I wanted to beat my brains in with a sledgehammer. How can monotone auto-tuned singing be real music?

  • @DemonicRemption It isn't,but try telling that to the millions of 11 years girls with no taste in good music. And who said that Replay was real music? What person with ears would say that?Crazy deaf kids.

  • What about K'naan?

  • Oooooh. I had no idea what this song was until it got to the part about him writing a symphony. I always giggle manically because of the sheer impossibility of him actually doing something like that.

  • cookery is a man's game...

  • I kinda like this song BECAUSE it has all the cliches of pop music. It's so cheesy and catchy that I can't help but enjoy it.

  • Have you heard Rucka Rucka Alis take on this song? Its got some funny lyrics

  • "we railroad white, breaking all the rules" so they do coke together? Great grounds for a relationship

  • @skrapyard444 according to chris rock it is lol 2 crackheads can work together

  • FUCK YOU MAN where do you live??? IM GONNA FUCK UP YO FACE YOU FATASS SONNOFA BIATCH

  • fuck uuuuu face fuck

  • my cup runeth over with information..lmao!!!! i luv this vid..

  • i think its pronounced like I-AZ like I-IS cuz poor literacy is kewl

  • the reason the chorus sounds the same is most likely cause they recorded a good take and just copied it, thats what this evil R&B music producers do

  • Hahaha, I'm sorry but whenever I hear this music all that goes through my head is "HAITI HAD A LITTLE BIT OF A EARTHQUAKE!"

  • "Gun to my holster"?? Sounds like the genders got mixed up there.

  • Iyaz? Does he mean "IJazz"? Oh man, That is an insult to jazz music.

Also, "iyaz" sounds like a stupid Iphone app.

  • This song is so over rated it does not need to be over played on the radio a million of times.

  • an ok song, but when a lot of people think your first big hit song is done by some one else, then that's trouble. He needs his own sound

  • I think this song was written for a girl to sing, but they just changed the gender for Iyaz. Like Tainted Love, you know?

  • That could definitely be. The "gun to my holster" thing especially seems... like the genders were reversed. If you know what I mean.

  • Yeah. I mean... it might just be an innocent romantic song... but... DAMN YOU SOCIETY FOR CORRUPTING MY MIND!!!!

  • I'm going to take a wild guess and say "Iyaz" is suppose to be "Aw yeahz!"

  • @FluffyLovesSpyro2 So essentially the singer has a really bad ear? Logical yet ironic... Makes sense that when he proofreads the lyrics, something doesn't catch his ear... Ironic that he chose to make a name for himself with such bad ear... -_-"

  • The first 70 or so times I heard this, I didn't even realize it was new. It sounded so much like every mediocre song from 2006-2009 that I figured it came out a few years ago and I just missed it.

  • That's exactly what happened to me. I didn't realize it was new until my friend told me about it.

  • awesome review, very funny, I was literally laughing out loud through most of it..

and I am genuinely embarrassed for Wentworth Miller, having to appear in a Mariah Carey vid of all things *shudders*

  • you are a GREAT!!!!!!!!!! piano player

  • Something else...

    Nanana...hey Jude :-D

  • "That girl's like a dine" -- possibly "A girl like that is a dime a dozen"?

One of the first things I thought when I heard this song was "He must've been paid tons by Apple for saying 'iPOD iPOD iPOD' so much."

    "Silly Love Songs", lol.

  • Good video Todd. You're my new favorite guy on Youtube right now. You deserve a lot more views.

  • Isn't Yaz the name of a brand of birth control pill? Why would anyone knowingly name themselves after that?

Also, I think the "that girl is a dime they say" line refers to her being a dime a dozen, claiming that she is just as BLAND and UNORIGINAL as Iyaz. Which makes no sense if she "like somethin' off a poster" and looks like a model or whatever.

Haha, great post as always, Todd. Bravo!

  • Well.... At least it isn't scary like Break Up. Man should cook.

  • You know, the fact that it is so innocently dopey makes me like it a bit more. Only on an intellectual level, though. It's a thoroughly mediocre song. 5 out of 10.

  • you forgot extreme autotune on the list of pop elements it has, just thought i'd let you know, great vid btw

  • 3:06 - YAY! PAUL MCCARTNEY! I LOVE YOU PAUL! Oh, yeah, anyway, that was a good video. I thought about you doing a review, but when I listen to the song, I don't really hear anything so I thought it would be hard. Anyways BEATLES FOREVER! I love the Beatles, even when they went solo. Thanks for the McCartney bit.

  • I remember when I first heard this song on my TV early one morning. The first thing that popped into my head was "J.R. Rotem? Yup, that's him."

Yeah, basically anything he contributes to pop music is bland, but this is one of those songs that just exceeds the bland meter. I considered it equal to "Down" on the fact that it sounds like everything else that's popular.

  • hmmm... Completely beside the point, but I'm curious as to what the song in the credits was XD

  • "Over and Over" by the Dave Clark Five

  • Aaah, kays.

  • @ToddInTheShadows

a girl that is a dime is simply a girl that is perfect

    dime= 10 cents , a ten ='s perfection or very very hot

And for his name, idk how he got it but Iya minus the z , is a shortening or Hiya as in "hi"

  • This song is a prime example of why I dislike Pop Music, or more what's wrong with Pop Music. It's derivative, uninspired, and, honestly, do you think people will actually be listening to this song in two years?

  • Y'know, just at this exact moment, halfway through the review, I realized that this guy's singing is trying to sound a lot like Sean Kingston. And Sean Kingston in turn was trying to sound like Matisyahu. I don't know how far back that chain goes, though. So that weird Jamaican accent that certain artists throw on while singing certain songs is becoming a fad, I guess.

  • Ah, I just watched the part that mentions Sean Kingston. Okay, it all makes sense now! Thanks for that insight, Todd!

  • When going through your blandness checklist you left out the large amounts of autotune. Btw love the "just another silly love song" reference, and i never figured out what you meant when you said "whipped like Ray Ramono". I also hear Iyaz is a medical term for a rare kind of seizure. That's all Peace out!!!

  • "Whipped like Ray Ramano" is referring to the sitcom "Everybody loves Raymond".

  • I know what that is. I mean how is ray ramono whipped?

  • Take one part "Urban Dictionary" and one part "whipped". Apply search engine and read.

  • ray romano is a character known mostly in pop culture thanks to the inexplicably popular show from the late '90's, everybody loves raymond, popularized by him being whipped by an overbearing wife and living across the street from his equally overbearing mother.

    Your welcome.

  • You probably should've mentioned his producer is J.R. Rotem, THAT MOTHERFU-

Anyway, great review, going for a mediocre source and making it flow is a feat, I'm suprised that there's no auto-tune, that would've completed it's circle of blandness :P
