i normally don't correct professional musicians, but that's mostly because an opportunity doesn't come up. it wasn't played on a piano, it was a harpsichord. similar instruments outside, different inside. pianos have hammers hitting strings, harpsichords have little plastic bits plucking strings like a mini guitar pick.
@Erniepbms Basically no where if you don't have 3k and a trusted seller. Its the PGM700 and it was only sold in Japan and I think only like 100 were made.
I agree with all the statements below, music isn't about music anymore, and it actually hasn't been for a while. Nowadays you'll maybe find 5 people in about 1000 who are actually making music because they love it, its all about money and appearance now. I for one am all about the music, I love the tingling feeling you get when you make a great sounding riff, and the queasy feeling you get when you shred out leads, I don't know if everyone starts like that, but judging by musics current state,
@Fendershred50 I have to disagree with you. Maybe if you listen to mainstream, but if you delve into the worlds of metal, or really any other genre, you'll find thousands of musicians composing because they love what they're doing. I'm personally a metalhead, and most of the music I listen to is written by people who just love the sound of the guitar part they've written or the vocal track they've done. It's just a matter of their personal taste and how they make it heard.
The world is not good 'anymore'? Since when has the world not been able to only see money and prestige? The world has always sucked, it just so happens that suck is now produced on an industrial scale.
@Jeahbuddy calling bullshit. your message has been made, but for the record, christina aguilera has an impressive skill as a singer. not necessarily as a song writer, but she can sing. better than most metal singers (emphasis on 'most').
while i agree that musicianship has faded from the limelight, be more careful with your examples.
one can dream of bach playing for you. then all you have to do is remember the melodies he plays. but good luck. remembering music from dreams is hard.
Mas, what do you think distortion does? It doesn't matter how talented Gilberto is - if you have your distortion settings that high you ARE going to mask articulation and dynamics. That's okay for shredding; NOT okay for "showing skill" with a Bach invention.
If you think that level of distortion doesn't mask anything, you would be VERY impressed listening to 12 year old's with 1 year experience at guitar center running thru scales on a line 6 amp. But me, I want to hear your phrasing..
Because at the hands of a master like Gilberto here the articulation and dynamics of his phrases are not masked by distortion, or 'loud noise' as you referred to it. If you don't have the ears to here it within the 'noise' that's your problem; the rest of the world are coping fine.

Musicindustrie has developed to an industrie that only pays for shit.
artists like Paul should get millions for playing like that.
But NO!
there is christina aguilera who has a nice skin and big tits.
If people would know how dumb they are when supporting little bitches like that.
And the worst thing is:
If I´m listening to guitarpeices like that in the car ( wich is an eargasm ) people just can´t hear this endless awesomeness.
no they want to listen to hip.

Love paul gilbert!
That he actually managed that easy, to record those 2 separate pieces, and time it that perfect, is stunning.

sounds horrible with all that distortion!
Why do people think "yeah, let's mask the articulation and dynamics with loud noise!"

Pablo Gilberto is an excellent guitar player, but like some reviewers, i find the guitar tone a little bit too distorted for playing classical music.
Elephant31200 3 years ago
i know what you mean .but lately he seem to be getting more subtle with his sound .possibly the influence of his piano playing wife.
MUDSHARK111 3 years ago
Well electric guitar was never made for classical music either... I find it's stupid to say that the tone is too distorted...
SamiJam 3 years ago 3
i like the distorted tone. it brings the pieces into a different light. it almost sounds like a wierd cello
