For inking over a drawing that's scanned, just open up a new file to the desired size and place the drawing on its own layer. Then do your work in another layer over it. See my other videos for more info.
Not sure if you answered this already but how/what brush do you use in order to trace because at first the line looks fuzzy but then it looks like it adjusts itself to make a smooth line.
Hi! How exactly does it work? You are looking at the creen constantly and draw on the tablet that is in front of you? The tablet is blank or does it shows exactly what is on your screen?
Yes, that's essentially what it is. It's a bit of an adjustment training yourself to look at the screen instead of down on the paper. The tablet does not have an image on it. It's just a pad, basically. Mine has a 4X6 area of drawing space. A Wacom Cintique would allow you draw/see everything digitally. But they're salty.
@jonathonlt1 just wondering if this was just a natural hit, or got promoted to get this big, sounds like a natural hit congrats, come check out my portraits and give me some feedback when you get a chance.

I'm trying to re learn AI since it has been about 3 years since I used it, and I was wondering: How to you get rid of those 'path' lines, like the red, blur green Etc..
I think what you're referring to is the color of the particular lines that are in that particular layer. Each layer has a different color for the path lines assigned to it.
@jonathonlt1 Yeah. is there anyway to get rid of them. and also I have the light/portable version and I can't find 'Live Trace'.. Am I just not looking hard enough or does that version not have it? ):
i dont have illustrator, but could you tell me a bit about this brush tool? does it always automatically make the drawing look smooth or was this some other type of tool?

Wow i have always been a fan of photoshop and until recent didnt quite see how powerful illustrator can be for banner, shirt, logo and pretty much any designs that will need to be enlarged.
Luckly i have always loved the pen tool. It there an easier way of redoing a vector i did with a pen tool in photoshop, in illustrator?
You are using the brush tool, don't you? how do you make it that the lines don't dissapear? i mean, whenever i try to draw like this, the lines dissapear if i connect them..
oh i think i can't explain it very well.. i hope you know what i want to say? ._.
This is awesome! I watched this about 6 mnth ago and I've been inking like a pro!haha Now though I'm wondering how you color the drawing in illustrator? The fill doesn't work so well once you've used the bbrush tool
Never tried coloring with Illustrator, other than flat easy fills. I've always used Photoshop for that. But I bet it could be done using the laso tool or polygon tool.
I notice that you're varying your line widths... is there a general rule to this?
I read a tutorial saying that it has to do with the shading... but then I read another tutorial that says it has to do with how close that object is to the viewer. The closer the object is, the thicker the line should be.
Hi great vid btw! I 've been looking at tuts and was wondering in Illustrator the colouring, can you blend using a brush like in PS? Or is it gradients only? Thanks
