I've been playing violin for about 4 years, and am one of the best in a school of 1200 kids! you did awesome!!! just one tip! don't lift your fingers too high!! other than that, great job!!!

@demnlordd666 -- its never too late to learn...when we were about 10 years old, our teacher used to ask us to sit in with his adult chamber group--all of the members of the group were adult beginners and they were making amazing progress :)

Just amazing. How long did it take you to get to that level of playing? Did you go through a lot of formal training?

@dizzah -- my sister and i started in fourth grade in our school music program (it was a 15 minute group lesson, but it got us started). we've been playing for about 8 years and have had lots of private lessons. we also play in several orchestras and chamber groups and we perform alot together (check out our other youtube page ~~~ Musicasa2ndLanguage ~~ where we post our duets, solo/chamber/orchestra performaces, concerts, etc).

@paulmcemly -- no sorry, the violins we play here on eboyinc are part of an estate collection which has an accompanying collection of sheet music and books. we select a violin then select a piece of music to play. we only get about five minutes with the instrument and music to tune up, warm up and record the video, then the violin and music are returned to the collection. you might want to try imslp (dot) org -- our favorite online free music site.

@entfred -- whoa thanks for the comment. my sister and i do the sound samples here on eboyinc and we only get to spend about 5 minutes with each instrument. just enough time to tune it, think of something to play, and record a minute or two. then the violin is returned to the collection. i don't recall the name of the maker, but clearly a good american maker and a really nice instrument.

It might be worthwhile to invest in a second microphone, I think the mic on the camera is a little too close (it sounds like some of the sound quality gets lost because the violin projects so powerfully in this video). I commend you and your sibling for undertaking this project and playing so well nonetheless!
