To be fair, I haven't seen Mr Balsamo perform live. But this is the only good, not boringly undynamic performance of his that I've seen on youtube.

I'm sorry but that is only due to the fact that he successfully copies Ian Gillans ingenius dynamics from the original recording. A true singer that man was.

Superb version. I'd not heard or seen this performance before. I have to admit though that the original Ian Gillan version takes some beating. This is up there with Gillan and Neeley though. I was lucky enough to see Glenn Carter perform in Jesus Christ Superstar in London (quite a few years ago) and that was also a mind blowing performance!

Neelery in the movie had a voice coming frome elsewhere, as if he really could see farther than his own point of view, I'd call it the "voice of awareness", something surely not only human. I still slightly prefer his version at all, but Balsamo, Farnham, Sarich, everyone of them has something really divine, everyone in a different way... Only one word: astonishing!
