Well, I have heard that production is on hiatus until at least early 2009 due to high production costs. I'm not really sure if or when it will be back.

Thanks! You're lucky you got to audition for Wheel - it's so hard to land a spot since so many people want to get on! I tried out for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? last summer and passed the written exam, but didn't get on the show - either they didn't like me (always possible) or it was because this episode of Crosswords aired so soon after the audition and they have policies on how many games shows you can be on in X days. So, I'm going to give that another go this summer!

The opening of "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" is similar to the 1976 game show "Double Dare" using the words previously and later based on the theme music. The theme from "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" is previously used on "Wheel of Fortune" while the theme from "Double Dare" would later be used on "Card Sharks."
