Dude I feel like if I showed up to band practice and suggested we all do that they would prob think i was gay or somethin. No offense, but this is the type thing I would practice alone in my room. haha
I did an Art of living course where they taught Pranayam, yoga and a special breathing technique .. I have been practising that and my Vocal strength and stamina has increased manifolds :)
Great, thanks for the tip!! I would imagine you could use this tip just about anywhere. Even while in the passenger seat of a car if you had the right surface to blow against like a book or something. Posture is great while standing but if you pay attention to it while sitting, I'm sure it is still a great excersise. Thanks again! Oh btw I will be expanding my YouTube Thimbu (not even sure what it's called yet) soon, so if you want to... Check it out!
@thehillangel that would be because you're blowing all your air out so fast that your lungs have no time to perform respiration. As you get better at holding back air, you'll feel less light headed, but after a lot of singing, you're still going to feel a little light headed. It's ok.
as long as possible. If you need a benchmark go for a minute. The longer the better however. More importantly that how long you can hold a note. It trains your lungs to use air efficiently. This will help you hold arrow straight pitch on your notes.
nice exercise, after a few reps I managed to hold it for about 30 seconds with a deep inhale.. the piece of paper plays tricks on you from time to time but you get used to it.
yeah I'm alright with that because it's true, but who told you I was raising my chest?:)) I actually do keep my ribbs and chest still while singing or speaking in everyday life
No one told me at all, its just something i wanted to mention incase you were, i suppose you know what its like everyone tends to hope they are dong things right until someone mentions something and then they realise they are doing it wrong and the chest is a hard concept to get around at first and specially breathing from the stomach.

a deep inhale isnt actually raising your shoulders but keeping them still when breathing in deeply and not allowing the chest to raise at all
