@dannychainsawhands - I use one. A Boss Noise Suppressor. Unfortunately, that night, my entire pedalboard shorted out, so I was playing directly through the front of the amp. I know better than to play live shows without such a unit. No way around it that night.

Actually, it was a correlation of two things. My noise suppressor failed on me that night, so the set was unfortunately played without one. Secondly, the acoustics of the venue was horrible and active pick-ups tend to not like it's own sound being thrown back at them. My gain was only at about 2 o'clock.
