  • Flawless, indeed! I used to have this on vinyl. Just downloaded it for my iTunes. Gorgeous voices, gorgeous women. Yep, wish they had done more jazz. Love their "Jada", too!

  • OMG,,, this is the first time i've seen all 4 singing together. I'm mostly a fan of the 80's Anita, Ruth, and June line up but WOW WOW WOW WOW.... if you are a girl group and want to "make it" if you CAN"T do this like these classy ladies did, then DON"T BOTHER trying..... I"M am in AWWWWWWE this was AWESOME... I loved the group before and NOW they have took me over the top.

  • wonderfuuuuuuuuuuul. i remember this song from my childhood...my sister and I learned it and halfway through we'd get so giggly that we couldn't finish the song. Wonderful wonderful performance by such a talented..gifted group of women.

  • They made awesome jazz and r&b from '73 thru "75...find '73 "pointer sisters", "that's a plenty", and "steppin "...I wore those vinyls out! In between going to see Led zepplin and Black Sabbath..LOL I love it all...

  • I remember being little and seeing the Pointer Sisters on a television variety show and immediately fell in love with them. This clip just sealed it for me they were a contemporary throw back to what great singing/harmonies was okay. I miss them, especially June, I always figured Bonnie was a bit of a rebel.   • ok heres the thing,it was the summer after their first album came out.ste set was at De Anza Collage in cupertino ca. they were on fire,we met them back stage.all the sisters were really nice except bonnie"Im going to okland to dance and you ppl are holding me up"she remarked to a stunned group which included her sisters who were casually chating with a small group of us who stayed to meet them after the show.seeing them live then was one of the best shows I have been to and Ive been to a lot

I thought his name began with an S. google: personnel Willie Fulton-elec guitar; John Rewind-guitar; Skip Mesquite-sax; Norman Landsberg Tom Salisbury Joe Crane-piano; Ron McClure-acoustic elec bass; Dexter Plates Rod Ellicott-bass; Gaylord Birch Ed Marshal Jerome Kimsey-drums - so it may have been Tom Salisbury. i used to play this track over and over just for the piano solo. thanks to the uploader.

  • The camera doesn't show him but if it's the same drummer as was on the album (and I see the pianist is the same) then this drummer is none other than the late great Gaylord Birch who was a fantastic drummer that didn't get the notoriety his talent warrented...possibly because he chose to remain in San Francisco and not go to New York

  • Yes! I had the 45 RPM of Cloudburst on one side and Jada on the B-side. This brings back mad memories....

    They should have recorded two more jazz albums for posteriority, maybe then not commercially interesting, but now it would have been!!! Untill today there's been no one else doing what they did, and they were SO GOOD at it.

    No matter what key.. the important is to know a good thing when you hear it.

  • Oh yeah, their version is incredible and may even be faster than LH&R. Guess I forgot to mention how much I liked it.

    And Barry Manilow covered it around the same time but the less said about his version the better.

  • Their whole first album is bad ass ... amazing stuff. Those chicks could blow. Steppin' is a good LP too from the early period.

  • @universuale I totally agree they really should have done that!!!!! And I agree again - they had a good thing going with doing that, but POP music and the 80s  changed a lot of great artists' direction. Now I gotta go on an epic search for the two jazz albums they did...

  • Wow!!! This was The Pointer sisters during their heday and which took the world by storm. I just loved their raw talent and church harmonies with a touch of blues and jazz and a lot of class.
