And this "Hello Sailor" song & video seem to capture that sense of loss. And we're left with a handful of nothing...This is the very reason why MCARTNEY & BRAZIER & LYON do it for me. THEY keep it real...
I can only empathize with your remarks about The Gluepot. It was a longstanding NZ landmark and a cultural symbol for young Kiwi music lovers. My heart broke too, a few years since, when the impersonal demolition ball tumbled the hangout of my `60's wildhood [T-Bowl] where I learned the arts of funky R&R and so much more of Life. Did they care that they were taking away my past? Now 20 miles away they're knocking down Yankee Stadium. Nothing ~ in this World is sacred, I'm sad to say.
CLOUSO ~~~ You have to be commended for such a SENSATIONAL VIDEO! ... Talk about talent, Brother you have a roayal straight flush! ... FABULOUS, I mean FABULOUS!
I'm waiting on the next HELLO SAILOR CD "HOT NIGHTS AT THE GLUEPOT ON PONSONBY" featuring~ All Around This Town, Bad Bad Boy, Billy Bold, Blue Lady, Closing Time, Daughter Of Angelique, Dr. Jazz, East Of Eden, Greylands, Gutter Black, In Your Company, Late Night Music, Latin Lover, Long Gone For Good, Lying In The Sand, Mathematician, Mr. Asia, Never Fade Away, New Tattoo, Raging With The Storm, Satelite Town, Sea Of Heartbreak, Six Piece Chamber, When Your Light Are Out...
Another GREAT song from the heart of Dave McArtney with THE BRAZZ MAN delivering his too cooool NZ vocals! The creator of this video also deserves high praise for his acknowledging our WWII vets~THE GREATEST GENERATION. Particularly liked the three battleship John Waynes at 3:00 ~ HOOO-AAAH!
The gluepot and hello sailor were great memories! Graham Brazier strutting through the crowd and then performing like the best rock band in the world. At least the music still lives on.......
