DAMN! That was brilliant. His speed is radioactive! Like the other guy was saying this footage pwns! I thought it was a cover when I saw the video thumbnail - you couldn't have been any closer.
HOLY SHIT!!!! this footage is incredible!!! its like the camera was attached to his guitar!! awesome view awesome quality :D great! how'd you get so close??
I was about the 10th person in line to get in (had a VIP ticket that guaranteed early entry into the venue) so I just went straight to a spot in front of the stage on Joe's side. The Roxy is a tiny club with no barriers in front of the stage, so I was literally a foot or two from him when he stood right there. Best concert experience I've ever had! ;)
I used a Canon SD1100IS. I was really pleased with the quality of the video and sound from this fairly cheap little camera (about $160 last year).
On this video, I also did some image stabilization after the fact with iMovie. That's why it's so smooth in parts. Most of my other videos from that concert were not image stabilized in iMovie, but the camera also has optical image stabilization built in, so they're still pretty good in that department.
HOLY SHIT... it's my biggest dream to stand that close to Mr. Satriani! :D

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Hands down the best non-professional concert footage I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing. What equipment did you record with?
