I am in the Wholesale / Auction Buisness and I am working Hard to get ahead of the NEXT GREAT DEPRESSION so when it Does happen I hope to have Many Back Ups in place !
Something that reminded me of the 30's in Denmark huge tanker trucks dumping milk because milk prices have plummeted. I think its important to realize as we address this problem, that is not because food or other commodities are scarce that a depression exists, but it is because the productive powers of our economic system has produced so much, prices plummet. A crises of over production. Is it moral to dump milk in face of hunger?
I am glad scutter brought up this topic. I hope however he or other do not find it offensive when I disagree with him or others. My definition of a depression is when production of essential goods and service slows down so much, that many people are forced into a situation of extreme hardship. I have talked to old timers that tell some horrific stories, like having to give up their children rather than see them starve.
Completely missing from this discussion is that through the action and pressure of the activists from unions, we not only got out of the depression but gained social security and other social programs out of it. Our preparation should be to review labor history, to, read books like, Howards Zinns A Peoples History of the United States. The only ones that should fear the depression is the bankers and other capitalists. If workers are united, nothing to fear. but worry if workers are divided .
"I'm not a wealthy individual, in fact I'm very poor" ...brother join the club. My advise to people is keep their jobs, things will never be like before.
Christians need to get ready to get out of here, not ready to stay(unless they want to).
This generation will know that real estate speculation is a work of the devil since all it does is increase the cost of housing and commercial property without any increase in usefulness or profitability of the property. Sure you can make money by playing the real estate game for big profits but this time it set off the collapse of the whole system because the banking geniuses tied all their fancy financial products to the real estate market that has to collapse when it gets over priced.
It struck me that you said It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark. My family and I have been preparing for the last few months. Money is very tight so we had a rule. We called it the Noah rule because we buy things in twos. Two bags of rice, two bags of sugar etc. Thank You for sharing your videos. I will keep you in my prayers.
I always thought I had it bad when I was growing up. actually, I was okay with everything when I was a kid living with my mom that had to work 2 crappy jobs- it felt okay because it was just normal to me. I think it wasnt until I got a decent job that I lost my roots and just blew my money on a bunch of crap I don't really need. Now, I got laid off and realize that mentally I'm ready for whatever happens due to common sense/street smarts. I thank god for all my lessons in life and experiences.
American Greed--from the least to the greatest--this great people have been hoping in the wind. Christians in the Church felt 'secure' on their pews. Now the 'meltdown' coming. Like a Katrina-type storm! Chaos/confussion--no leadership. Hold fast your Faith--Run to Higher Ground--looking to Jesus/Trust in Jesus--He alone can save. This is not our kingdom--but we've been living like it was...living on 'sand'--'debt' . Don't blame God! It's our fault for living a lie!
You are also the generation that created this great depression and at some point your generation needs to acknoledge it and take responsibility for it. :) Love your work... just had to say it, and I didnt want to get hit in the head by my dad.
We will all be a lot better off if we help each other...and I know that bad times being out the BEST and WORST in humans.....so let's not just fixate on the what the BAD people will do....remember there will be good people we can join. (to support each other)
Good luck to all...let's hope things don't get to bad, but be ready if they do.
Here is another connected thought.....mental preparation is critical (that's why I like your Noah comment)....and also remember that none of us are in this alone. There really are many very good, like minded people out and about around us, and one thing we might want to do now in preparation is to find them and network with them. (there are even going to be good people who don't recognize it is all on them until it is....that isnt the point to throw them out of the Ark for being short-sighted)
The ones that arent gonna prepare are the ones who dont see a problem and think that the economy will be fixed within 24 hours. The ones that do prepare will be alright.
i understand where you are coming from. still post some scrappin and scroungin and inventive ideas on self sustainable living. we all need new ideas in that department. and yes bob chapman uploads are kewl too....IMHO
I bought 6 tins of beans yesterday. They were only 27p each. I guess thats about 40 cents. Great advice. I have quit drinking as a) it's not good for me and b) I need the money for more important items now. Peace

my friends make fun of me all the time because I believe in having "back ups" to everything. Sometimes I have backups to my backups. :o)
