don't you guys get it? MK wasn't trying to KILL gamma when he pushed him away with a bullet, he was making sure gamma didn't get caught in the blast, potentially killing the flicky that was released by MK.
also, they should bring back gamma without a flicky inside of him, he's just a free functioning robot.
now thinking of it, that flicky killed gamma! when it reminded him of his past as a bird, and being in their family, it made him finish himself, meaning the flicky MANIPULATED HIM.... ;D
@psyche334 after beta attacked him he was severly injured. his mission was to free all the animals in the E series robots by destroying them. after he killed beta, the bird that flew from beta gave gamma memories of the family of birds and reminding him that the last bird was inside of him. So he could of use his auto recovery system so he would be healed but he chose not to knowing that if he died the bird would be free and his mission would be complete so he gave up his life.
Unlike the E-100 series (Except for Omega) E-102 was equipped with a self-recovery program which would have allowed him to live.
However his mission was to save the Flicky's which he saw were his friends (Which was caused by his own Flicky). Eventually Gamma would have to self terminate to complete his mission.

This shows that gamma will recover from all fatal wounds dealt to him. After being shot by beta however, he lips around for a while, showing that he hasn't activated his auto repair system.

I always thought it was a combination of both. His mission was to free the birds, and free the robots they were within of Robotnik's enslavement. He was fatally wounded by Beta, but when the memory of the bird within him flashed, he didn't do anything to stop it, remembering his "previous" and "next" life, as the bird.

I never really thought of Gamma and his bird as separate beings--I always thought they were the same thing. I thought that Eggman deleted the bird's memories, and then put them in the robots to serve as both their power sources and as extensions of their mental functions. In other words, the robot spoke what the bird would speak, did what the bird would do, and thought what the bird would think. In Beta's last moments inside his robot, he destroyed the Gamma robot to free the bird.

Gah, it wasn't until recently I heard the theory that the e100 robots were just birds under control (implying that gamma is female). I believe the birds are only the powersource, because not only that wouldn't explain the other badniks, but it ruins this ending.
It would mean that Gamma didn't give up his life to save the bird, but that the bird simply broke out of it's metal cage. It obviously would make this a happy scene, and that's not what they were going for.

if there is any doubt who will win between omega and gamma, well, if you remember gamma's gameplay, he owned more stuff than anyone, homing laser targeting instant kill, all in a couple of seconds. omega just had a couple of rockets, despite having that uber purple cannon, i think even e-101 mkII could beat omega.
I think it would have been more epic if Gamma shot himself as opposed to his brother shooting him. It would have tied up his story better as well as being sadder in a good way.

Gah, it wasn't until recently I heard the theory that the e100 robots were just birds under control (implying that gamma is female). I believe the birds are only the powersource, because not only that wouldn't explain the other badniks, but it ruins this ending.
It would mean that Gamma didn't give up his life to save the bird, but that the bird simply broke out of it's metal cage. It obviously would make this a happy scene, and that's not what they were going for.
So yeah, GIVE ME THE BIRD.

i had finished Gamma's campaign and when he fell, i was more tan suprised i didnt cry (i wont let myself that easy) but on the inside i was PRETTY sad but i felt good that his bird form came out (how could i feel good when a KICK-ASS bot comes out a defenseless bird) still ill miss him

No fair, the best robot Eggman has ever built and he only lives for about 4 days :( They should make a mega-kickass remake of SA1 where after completing it you have to go find all the broken pieces of Gamma so Tails can rebuild him :D

if there is any doubt who will win between omega and gamma, well, if you remember gamma's gameplay, he owned more stuff than anyone, homing laser targeting instant kill, all in a couple of seconds. omega just had a couple of rockets, despite having that uber purple cannon, i think even e-101 mkII could beat omega.
