u know..we are mexican AND italian, in my family..and u know our meals are usually with tortillas, and spaghetti noodles...- I'll just have to learn & find gluten free products..-thanks for sharing..great videos
just went gluten free a few months ago and I bought one of those taco kits with the powdered spices, well turns out they're stock-a-block full of gluten!
Thank god for you!
Could you maybe put the amounts of the spices into the description box?
I have to say this!! I just found out i have celiac disease and am trying to figure out what i CAN eat. This recipe is awesome, and I'm going to make it! Also, I was so upset when i found out and you honestly are so upbeat and happy that I feel totally inspired.
I loved your taco night video. It inspired me to try your recipe, which by the way,was a huge hit with my family. Thank you so much!
I used water in place of the beef stock and not so much salt --just my preference. The cumin seeds were delicious with the red kidney beans. Do you use the yogurt with your tacos because it is healthier or is that common to Australia? Here in the states we use sour cream. The chocolate cake in the oven was very tempting! You are so fun to watch!
hey thanks- that was really great you made the tacos- that is my mother's recipe!!! I use yoghurt because it is healthy and tastes exactly the same! I did go a bit overboard on the SALT!!! Love Megan xxx
I am not an native English speaker and I had trouble understanding what that brown liquid that you put in the can of potate paste is. Is it meat stock with water?? I would really appreciate if you could tell me.
It was beef stock with a cup of hot water...i always swish it around the jar of tomato paste to get the last bit out! Let me know if you make them xxx
I really enjoyed watching you make Tacos. I am wanting to put my 3 yr old on a gluten free diet and so I'm been looking for recipes! This is a wonderful way to learn! You should have your own tv show ;p
It is really easy and kids love it- i might do some more recipe videos for you. Don't forget you can't eat soy sauce. I can use Fountain brand and it is gluten free- Tamari Sauce is almost the same for a substitute!!!
Try the cumin seeds etc- it's not that spicy but has a bit of zing to it..mmmmmmm. i am having a dinner party here tonight and have made a yummy white chocolate cheesecake!!! Gluten free of course!!! x
I'm going to use chicken mince and chicken stock as I don't eat red meat. If I follow your recipe it will last me six months as I haven't got any friends to invite round!I think I'll do half measures maybe! Love Elle x
I would love it if you would show us how to make gluten free cakes or other bakery items. I've given up wheat completely and sometimes can find wheat free desserts at the grocery, but it would be wonderful to make a wheat free cake at home sometime. I used to love to bake
I will do that this week!!! In Australia we use a product called Self Raising Flour. I remember when i lived there no-one knew what it was..it is flour with the raising ingredients in it. We can get a gluten-free version here...can you get that there? Check your supermarket. x
astralian martha stewart! great recipe i love it! i do the same thing here but on sundays with paella and tapas, you are invited but it is a bit far for you.....mallorca:)i will make it but not for me because i dont eat meat.
I wrote down the recipe. I usually cheat and buy the kits. I'm always looking for recipes which I can precook. As for having single friends over....once a week, a male friend of ours is here scumming food 2 or 3 times a week, and then my brother who is separated is here 1 or 2 times as well. Seriously though, its great to have them here.
Shame I'm vegetarian ;) Soya mince do?? Do you have veggie alternative on taco night or is that unheard of in Oz? But I love your enthusiasm - we could do with an aussie chef on the tv! Mind you, Megan, the salt was scary!! lol It would be really funny if loads of youtubers turned up on your door on a Monday night after hearing that... grab your passports, folks :)
i KNOW how scary that salt looked- even to me!!!...there is a lot of meat there and it was about 2 spoons.... I think you could maybe do a tofu version??? I don't know? Thanks for your comments- that was nice xxx
That was awesome. You cook almost identical to the way I do. Lot's of spices, lot's of salt, lean meat. My mouth is watering. As soon as I get my private jet, I'm stopping by your house on Monday's.
OK! I think i did go overboard on the salt??? You should have taco night with all your single friends. Mondays is great coz no-one is out on dates etc xxx
I think you can't have too much salt but that's just me. I might consider that. It might entice everyone to come visit me in the country. The place I'm moving is far enough away that it might discourage people from making the drive. It's about 35 miles (56 kilometers).
Well- they can do that once a month on a Monday maybe??? Originally we all used to watch Friends and Melrose Place...now we watch the Australian Idol verdict after watching the performance on Sunday night!!! I love that show!
Cumin is the best. Many Spanish dishes use Cumin. Wow that was alot of salt!!! Those tacos must have been really tasty. Thanks for the recipe video. (No comment on the Kidney beans).
It DID look like a lot of salt when i watched it back!!! It was not as bad as it looked, but it does take 2 big teaspoons for that amount of meat!!! xxx
Megan! Old El Paso do a taco seasoning mix that doesn't have gluten in it :) It's what I use when I make tacos
courtleex 7 months ago
I just want to say that it looks good however I from Illinois, and I would call that a sloppy joe mix, not taco

Tabasco sauce contains wheat but apart from that, great Taco recipe. Perhaps chilli can be used as a substitute for heat.

Depends what is in it. You need to check the ingredients in the sauces...unfortunately there are some things you just have to let go. xxx

yep an easy gluten free meal. I love how you pronounce tomato.
