yo my dad set my Internet so after XX hours the Internet become local only,(not wireless) but then I tried my friends computer who's also bot wireless. His computer work fine after xx hours but my became local only. I'm guessing my dad only block my computer not others so I tried to changed my computer name, workgroup still doesn't work any suggestions pls?

@GenerationXS this didnt work for me.and there is nothing wrong with my router because i can use it and be on the internet for days no problem.but every now and then i will lose connection and it will say local only.now if i unplug the router and plug it back in this fixes the problem .problem is i am using my inlaws signal from next door so i hate having to call them everytime the damn internet goes off.

My DHCP addys come up as fuckin fec:0:0;1% whatever. This was abso-fucking-lutely useless for me. I had high hopes. Looks like its time to take that pile of SHIT Vista and replace it with A proper OS like XP pro so I don't have to deal with that bullshit. Thanks anyways though, man.

There must be a bigger problem with your wireless driver, take into a shop and see if theirs any problems or just play around with this technique, see if you can make something out of it.

If this method doesn't work, it could mean theres something wrong with the actual wiring in your house, if it works with another router, I suggest you bring your computer into a shop and get the drivers inspected by a technician.

nah i have the same problem as everyone eles with the local only.

except when u click on " Connect to a Network " and u right click your network and click status mine comes up totally different.i think i have to click on manage network or something and then i click status and thats when i click on IPv4 - properties etc etc. also i live in a apartment and everyones phone line has cut out . could that be a problem.

Umm my DNS and DHCP have the same numbers and when i type them in it sais DNS and DHCP numbers are not aloud to be the same or something like that?

so how do i still fix this problem.?

My computer sais " local Only and has the 2 computers flashing" and when i do have internet it has the 2 computers and the earth next to it and sais local and internet only. so how do i get it to work and everything.

Yeah, the two flashing computers means it's 'Local Only', 'Limited Connectivity' or another problem. Are you sure you clicked 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' at 0:46? You may have clicked Version 6 by accident. If you didn't, im not sure what your problem can be, the DHCP and DNS number should be different. Is it possible to give me more detail of this problem? If you can i can give you some troubleshooting instructions.
