Actually, global mean temperature has increased, even in the last 10 years. The only 10 year time period with little to no warming since 1970 is 1998-2008. That's because we had an extraordinarily strong El Nino event in 1998, which disguised the steady increase in temperature we've been seeing over the last 30-40 years with a sharp increase and subsequent decline. We know that was an anomaly though, because the time periods of 1997-2007 and 1999-2009 both show increasing global mean temps.

Um, now that I've put my snowblower away I'd like to ask where that global warming is. My part of Canada (on the north shore of Lake Superior) really needs to be warmed up. Friday night's snowstorm dumped 4 inches of snow on my town. Kind of early for snow here, but after the cold summer we rather expected a long early winter.
