And you're absolutely right he did influence trent a lot.... however that doesn't mean gary numan was not an influence. Numan Did have a very tv friendly hit in the song cars..... but have you ever listened to anything he prior or has done since? Check out both The Pleasure Principle and Jagged respectively. Regardless of whether or not you or I like him gary numan was cutting edge.

Numan was doing something different, and created elec. music that used hardware in ways never before utilized. There are those that would speak of NIN in the same way when comparing them to Ministry/Skinny Puppy, etc. I get your perception but have to disagree.
