  • Stp pulling the riengs so hard

  • I think the crazyness runs in the name :P since my horses name is Lacey and she acts the same way lol

  • Good job staying on

  • you handled it really well! napping horses are such a pain!:)

  • I think i have the solution that i think she wants to be with some other horse when she is ridden so ride with another horse. Your horse is gorg!!!

  • well done for staying on, you have a good seat! Make sure you really tell her off after ever rear, she has to know that rearing is no way acceptable! Either with a whip to the shoulder or a massive kick. Does she do it when you lunge her?xx

  • maybe because you're riding her in a field next to other horses, some horses get funny about it maybe she wanted to go play.. good riding though

  • my horse is naughty, and sometimes I have a little trouble staying on, so well done, by the looks of it, you horse/pony is in great condition!

  • I admit, i would have probably be tasting dirt by now if that were me :P

  • I'm glad you were able to solve the problem in a humane way and went against anyone who would suggest otherwise. And as far as that weight comment, neither you nor your horse is overweight, so :P to that person ;)

  • For all of you bastards that are calling her fat. Have you eve realized that you people don't HAVE to wear slutty-tight clothes to ride a HORSE? Or at all in general?

  • Comment removed

  • have you ever thought that it could be a problem in her neck? sounds a bit silly i know! But my friends horse did EXACTALY what Lacey does because she had an old injury but all the vets & that didn't notice and just past her on as a crazy pony xoxo

  • .... why is it suddenly everyone thinks they are amazing at riding yet sit them on this and you'd soon shut up....

My old pony used to be worse than this and i just gave her a 'Crack' it worked shes now doing very well...

  • me and my horse both went on a diet this summer. everything is much easier without the extra weight and without the bit.

  • study the video just before the horse rears. the horse isn't liking the bit . everytime the girl yanks, notice the head and then the rear!! both are overweight also.

  • @greatbigbubby How is the girl overweight? I don't see that at all. It may just be the way she is built. I'm 100% fit and toned, etc, but I still look like that.

  • @greatbigbubby - sorry to get involved, but i'm just pointing out a fact, just because the girl is not STICK thin, which most people aren't, doesn't make her over weight. Everyone is built differently so you can no say she is over weight just through this video!

  • try no bit. no pain no problem

  • @greatbigbubby While I agree that some bits are cruel (all bits, when used in the wrong hands), this doesn't appear to be one of them. I can't see very well, but it may be a D-ring snaffle, the same bit I use. It's a very gentle bit when you know how to use it, as she clearly does. I'm about to start leasing a mare that can't go with a bit. We'll see how she goes, but I'm going to try a pelham or snaffle on her (my aunt's, I've little fear of her disapproval) and see where that takes me.

  • damn you're a badass rider

  • Hey do you know the paint horse in the backround? whats her name? i think my friend owns her :)

  • What a beautiful horse, lovely markings. Welsh cob by any chance? Im glad the problem has now been resolved, i agree with not beating the horse, theres a difference between tapping them with a whip to reinforce that you are the boss and beating them with it.

  • good work :) you handled that well!! whenever i had a rearing horse people always told me to carry a raw egg, i never tried it but apparently it works, when they rear you whack the egg onto the top of their head. it doesnt hurt them but they feel it and think theyve whacked their head and then they feel the wetness of the egg and they think they are bleeding, so apparently it discourages them. you could try it :) just a bit of advice that ive had :D

  • Love how the person just carries on filming when this happens

  • People! She did not wack her horse she tapped it. And if you have realized she talked to it to calm it down. I use John Lyons. The gentlest trainer out there even he says this is not abuse just a way of making it stop! One suggestion is to do a one rein stop, instead of tapping it though and do some serpentines to get the horses attention on you and not the other horses. Once u are done de-herd bound the horse by stopping it when it is away from the pasture and making it work when your horse is

  • put barring rains on him..

  • Itreally pisses e off when hypocrite come here and say yourhurting the horse by hitin itor you did it wrong etc.Well thereare plenty of reasons why the horse could've been doing this. My horse rear when they see something or if they are just having aday. Dont blame the rider or the horseit couldve been the horse being spooked or having a day or maybe the rider could have done something but hiting the horse pisses them off more so thats not good but its notabuse. You couldve hit ur horse once too.

  • hi how did you resovle your problem with your horse as im havin the same problem x

  • get the mares teeth checked the horse is trying to communicate with you!

  • @denumleigh Read the description, it was nothing to do with her teeth, she had people come and check her over and over and it wasnt untill the very best came out they found out she had a bad neck, check before you crit!

  • i would try some tie downs on her. she is ornery.. not so tight she has her nose on her chest but enough where she cant get her head up far enough to rear like she is..

  • This video 4 years ago.. why is everyone still trying to give 'advice'?

  • @Eventer16 This video *was taken* 4 years ago is what i meant sorry.

  • @sarahraebabygirl ??? It's ma'am, as in, I am a woman, you called me "bro" so I was correcting you. Not sure what it means when you say" waste you time trying to prove yourself to me".. do I need to prove I am female? Not sure what you are talking about, but whatever, "bro"!

  • @sarahraebabygirl First of all, it's ma'am, and second of all, I will ask George.... he is a friend! Since i grew up here in Middleburg, I got to know all the big-name riders growing up, and took clinics with them and most of the Olympic riders past and present.

  • @sarahraebabygirl Well, I've only been breaking and training horses for 25 years, so you probably know more than I do. Good luck!

  • you should always have an egg or bottled water and when she rears hit infront of her ears with it(not 2 hard)she will think she hit her head and will think the water or the egg is blood!works!!

  • When your horse is playing up like that, whatever you do, let her have her head, or its going to panic. And, also, you shouldnt of got of her, therefore she thinks she can carry on doing it.

  • @elsabelsa02 That is the opposite of what you should do! If you give her her head every time she rears, you are in essence rewarding the rearing. She has learned that if she rears, you release the reins, so it's a positive reinforcement each time she does it. If someone had a bit in your mouth and was pulling on the reins, and they stopped pulling when you stood up... guess what? You would stand up all the time! So, what you need to do is make the right thing easy and the wrong thing difficult!

  • she's hitting the horses head, holding the reins to tightly, even though she aint turning..

  • I think i have those jodphurs :)

  • U need to spin her and tell her it is NOT ok not just turn around then let her do it again btw not trying to be rude just giving advise

  • this is just a suggestion, but you should try leaving your horse to trust you more, spend time with it at first, and try tea touch like on heartland:) calming the horse before riding it. Take a few days maybe and just practice sittin gon your horse, spend time with her and lead her into trusting you more. Try free lunging and let her go wild, ignore her for a few min and she will come to you, thats when trust starts. After a week or so of this, try leading into walk, and begin training:)

  • Circle, and whoa.

  • she did the right thing.

  • not a good thing. it wont scar the horse so that she wont ever want to go there, but just teach her while riding , your riding. not rearing and running to fences:) hope this helps!!

  • anyone who says she is beating this horse or being abusive towards is doesnt have a clue about horses. to be honest she is being nice to this horse and a apploud you on that:) but i do have a suggestion , my horse does this, but with th gate and i have found one way to cure it. have someone stand at that area with a whip, and when your horse rears and trys to go over there ,have the person snap the whip(NOT TOUCHING THE HORSE) this will get your horse to realize that doing that while riding is

  • I think it may be something in that area, try walking her on a lead rope over there to show her nothing is wrong

  • dont pull on the reins when they rear it makes them want to do it again:)

  • as i sed in the previous video lacey rearing during ground work my horse is eactly the same! i still love him tho! i know exactly how you feel! never let her go tho because can't imagine how broken you feel when you see them go! what breed is she? lol if she is a cob x <-tat is my horses breed x

  • Congrats on staying on (: lol my horse used to do this.

  • My horse does this, now I just lead him away from the field so I've got more control and get on further away. Its not a ba problem, just naughty.

  • NEVER hit a horse on their poll. It's their most vulnerable spot on their body.

  • My pony does this all the time -_-

  • she's playing with you yes. She saw her friends running without a saddle and descided she wanted that too haha

  • everybody keeps saying how she hit the horse in the head.....it looked more like a love tap.....that horse weighs a hole lot more than she does and what the horse is doing is not only dangerous for the rider but it is also dangerous for the horse.....

  • exactly! plus. they associate it with rearing, they stop doing it. woulda hurt her a lot more if she ended up dumped on the ground. hats off to you for staying on. gotta love horses with bees up their bums ;)

  • @theFP lol very true :)

  • You did really well to stay on when she spun at 00.20! Hats off to you!

  • Uh, if she wants to hit her in her head, she can. if thats what she does, then thats her business. The horse weighs 1000 pounds, i think she can handle it.

  • 0:32

  • My horse does that every day just stay on until the horse is relaxed and try again ;) Sorry if you mean that wrong. But that is the way I do it ;)

  • Can I use your clip please? :)

  • my horse does that :/ but then bucks... he is sooooo nappy towards mares!!

  • crack an egg on its head next time he does it and he

will think his bleading so he wont do i again xxxxx

  • I love how everyone is the expert on horses and are never wrong, and everyone must do as they say. It disgusts me. She did the right thing, she wasn't "abusing" the animal in ANY WAY. Sheesh, people, get a life.

  • @horsesrotflol i agree:) people dont under stand horses or anythign about them and just ramble on like they do.....

  • @horsesrotflol Actually for your correction.......Im not disagreeing with you its just when she whipped the whip on Lacey's head, that is abuse. The way I know that is because I deal with bucking and rearing horses at my barn and the best absoulute way to get them to stop is to do it kindly and be gentle on them. Wich this girl did the oppisite. So stop telling people to get lives because that is also the opposite of kind too. :(

  • Honey, don't whack that poor horse. Learn how to ride.

  • dont hi your horse. come on. when a horse rears, you need to take a calm approach. halt them at the scary spot, pat them. step them forward. be patient, and continue he pattern. itll only get worse if you handle it like that.

  • @iBreatheMusicx3 if it is rearing because it sees something scary, i agree with you. but horses rear for other reasons too. for example they just don't want to ride, and the rear in protest. in that case, i think a correcting tap with the whip is fine.

  • watch 0.32 , ur riduculous, sure, it is hard when your horse is rearing, but it dont mean you can wack it in the head? Just use calm words? ever heard of CALM words?

  • @forgot1997 What do you mean hitting is not a form of abuse?! Of course it is! Horses don't know theyre being 'naughty', theyre just trying to get out of situations they dont want to be in - like this horse who thinks maybe she could do something else, she doesnt understand! And just coz you can train horses, doesnt mean you're always right, especially when you encourage abuse. Disgusting. Well done beautifullace, I'm glad you're one of these people who doesn't hurt their horses. :)

  • @ILove1234Music are you serious ? im a three day eventer, i dont let my horses get away with anything. hitting them in the head wont solve anything.

  • @ILove1234Music well she was hitting the horse, and thats a bit extreme. dont tell her what to do.

  • ur not spose to punish a horse when it does rong. u ignore bad behavior, otherwise by beating it, its training will be ruined. why would u hit the horse anyways?

  • i believe using a whip inst bad OVER using it is abuse i use i whip only cause my horse needs it sometimes. i wouldn't recommended hitting the horse in the head cause it will in my opinion make it worse. so hitting is NOT a form of abuse as long as you dont over use the whip.

  • I love how every one is going "don't hit the horse on its head" but that is a way off stoping them rearing !! look it up !! and i bet she know more then you lot.

  • @forgot1997 You clearly know very little and your grammar/spelling is atrocious.

  • I love how every one is going "don't hit the horse on its head" but that is a way off stoping them rearing !! look it up !!

  • why the hell would you hit her, stupid !

  • @EventicElectric Hiting them on the head confuses them and they stop rearing.!!

any one that has a horse soed know that!!

  • @forgot1997 really ? i've had rearing horses before and we don't ABUSE. hitting is a form of abuse! if anything sshould touch the horse's head, it should be a waterballoon.

you don't know much and have horrible spelling.

  • Comment removed

  • @EventicElectric I go to pony club, and they tell me to tap my horses ears when she rears. " I think pony club know more then you". hitting is NOT a form of abuse as long as you dont over use the whip.

And if i don't know much then why do i do, BSJA, break in 3year olds for people, have rescuse, horses that rear, bolt, buck.. You name it ??!!

so i think i know more then you.!!

  • @forgot1997 hahahahhah i go to pony club too, and we were told to use the water balloon ?

anyway this is a stupid argument, as long as you dont absolutely smash their head, its fine, so can we just stop this ?

and i think the 'i think i know more than you' was a bit unneccessary.

  • @EventicElectric if you have tried everything else you HAVE to do something to stop it before the horse flips over and kills the rider or even itself and the water balloon is worse because that makes the horse think it is bleeding just like the egg trick but if nothing else works you have to try.

  • @DeathKitty123456 i understand that. ive been flipped over while i was riding my old pony, when i was about 10. i only broke an arm, but it couldve been way worse. still, i never hit him.

then again, it was a one off thing.

  • Forward issues, she needs a good smack on the behind, get her moving forward as best you can.... If she doesn't want to move away from the fence you could alway set up electric fencing on low vaultage... that might help ;p

  • Yeah that's right, hit it between the ears, that'l stop it rearing! Stupid girl.

  • DONT hit your horse on the head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have heard of the water balloon theory and heard it can work quite well, or really destroy the horse. What did you do to stop her from rearing?

  • @SmilesAllRoundxx1 sorry i pressed dislike instead of like ;/ whoops

  • Urrm, RIDICULOUS is how you spell it..

  • @OnlyGeeKLefT thats the american way to spell it i think only think not abusing you just thinking is it i dont know lol :P

  • @FOXYCHICK0987 sorry i sound really mean in my comment!! Sorry sorry sorry sorry !! :) btw, she's really lovely, ;) and im from england so i dunno :$

  • bahah loverrrrofbrunomarrs...your an idiot. Do what you gotta do girl. Rearing is dangerous and regardless if she is herd bound or not that is unacceptable.

  • @twcowboy40599 doesnt mean you whack it on the head you fucking twat. that can ruin a horse completely.

  • FUCKING ANIMAL ABUSE> FUCK YOU

  • it looks like she keeps wanting to go to the other horses...hvae u tried putting them where she cants see them?

  • @AmandaBoo15100 she could see them, they fucked off because the horse was being a twat...

  • Look at Rick Gore on Horseawareness (all one word) on you tube. Excellent advice. He tells it as it is and knows his stuff.

  • If you were not in western I'd say you'd better ride western!

  • amazing riding :) how is she now? how did you get her to stop? cause my pony rears :)

  • that horse needs alot of plain old manners the animal has no respect for the rider at all i wud know coz i have the exact same problem

  • Try sittin back a bit. Ur leaning forward to anticipate her rears (understandable) but at the same time your also giving her an excuse to do it. Hope this helps :)

  • @famousfilly Your actually supposed to lean forward to put more weight on her shoulders. It's supposed to keep them from rearing really high or at all. That doesn't mean it always works, but you are supposed to. You sit back when a horse is bucking. Something about distributing the weight over certain areas.

  • u need a tie down u put it on like a bridle but the strap goes between her legs and attaches to her saddle she wont do that dont it keeps her from throwing her head

  • if ya quit giggin w/ your heels everytime ya pull on them reins that'd be a start

  • I've been following your videos, because I have a horse that acts just like Lacey. I feel your pain! How is she coming along in training?

  • she isnt wanting to leave that horse haha.

  • hëhe_Ï_fÊÊl_sO_lÕÑélý_tÒdàý

  • At 22lowlow or whatevwr that never works andbehen arebyou going to randomlybhave an egg in your back pocket ?! I mean and its a complete mess

  • Glad you have got the problem sorted :)

Though in this vid it is unclear which way you are asking her to go so no wonder she was confused.

    Good job though x

  • Keep tr@ining hhim in the school/ring then he will l@rn repecte tell him off too

  • When they rear have a egg in your pocket crack it over their head not smashing it on their head open it and the they think they are bleeding my horse never did it again

  • Great job with keeping on turning her around

  • great riding!! well sat! and to all the assholes that said she was hitting lacey on the poll are wrong she quite clearly hit her on the shoulder and because she was napping not rearibg because lacey was scared... some people need to read the description. and it's spelt 'poll' not 'pole'. but anyway well sat and gorgeous horse xxxx

  • @XxFrecklesLoverxX i totally agree whit you

  • My trainer told me to smash an egg on the horse's head while it was rearing, so that it would believe it got hurt and was bleeding... and then it would stop rearing. I never did that though, it just sounded stupid. Anybody who's actually done that?

  • @Tubenuub no never done and my pony rears, not as badly as this though, you would have to have such fast reactions though to be able to saty on the horse, go forwrd and manage to smash an egg on the horses pole, sounds quite messy and complicated to me, might work though :)

  • @Tubenuub I tried that our 14.2 was a bad rearer and we tried everything... so some said that this worked, so we tried it, he didnt rear for a few weeks buh wen he did it was far worse!!

  • yah u should not hit the horse that tearns in to scared ness and the horse is veary disrespect ful because of u u are letting her get away with things and dont hit the horse it did nothing to u did it u are just frustraded

  • Amazing rider ;)

    Great sitting.

My new care horse bucks all the time, he does rear, but not alot.

    Cute horse :)

  • My horse does this also. :/

  • Okay, are you guys fricken kidding me???!!!! WTF!!! Have you seen any of these girls videos/?? She is an amazing rider and treats her horses awsome!!! Shes had this horse forever and its always ALWAYS been a problem mare!!! And guess what?! Years later after getting so many people out to look at her, and say nothing is wrong, she finally gets someone really expensive out, and this mares neck is actually really tense!!! Okay so anyway, you guys should know the person and the horse before talking.

  • don't hit her in the head.

  • @FromHorseback well said, you should never hit a horses head even if they are being really naughty!

  • @FromHorseback Actually that's probably the best thing to do. On her poll though not her face.

  • @FromHorseback it's a well known trick to hit a horse on the poll between the ears if it rears so it thinks it will hit it's head if he/she goes up again. not violently, but to let it know it's uncomfortable.

  • @FromHorseback Ikr! I'm sitting her yellin my head off at that! it is my pet peeve when it comes to horses.

  • @FromHorseback some people believe that tapping, not hitting, a horse between the head can prevent a horse from rearing again because they feel like they've hit thier head and won't go up again. Some people even use eggs to crack open on their head to make it feel like blood. I personally wouldn't do this, but my mare used to do this and people are entitled to deal with theirs horses how they feel appropriate.

  • @ShowjumperSparkie water ballons are abit better to use

  • @FromHorseback Hiting them on the head confuses them and they stop rearing.!!

  • @FromHorseback she did it so that the horse thinks when it rears it hits something like a roof or branch so they stop rearing incase they bang their head, people normally say to use a egg so they feel like they are bleeding, i wouldn't do it but if your horse does it all the time and you have tried everything else you need to do something, its dangerous.

  • @FromHorseback she does that so she makes the horse beleive that when it rears it is hitting its head on something and that usually helps because most horses wont rear if they no they will get hurt.

  • @FromHorseback that small little bop? really? so a tap is compared to the horse putting her rider's life in danger??

  • @HorseChickz we'll be fine if we fall and thats just going to annoy the horse more than she already is. Its not a way to solve that problem they need to build trust and realationship.

  • @MyaXXKristin shes acting up and trust me a bond a relationship is pretty damn important but NOT when the horse looses control and falls on top of u.. trust me i know when its ok to dicipline them and if she cant control her mare and needs to wake her up with a tap then its ok shes not like punching her or repeatidly smacking her, actually what she SHOULD have done was get off. simple as that.

  • And by the way. I hope you don't take my comments in a wrong way, I don't want to be mean. Just to say that the women\men commenting below me is a complete idiot. Beat your horse as much as you want, MAYBE he will break, he will become submissive. But that's cause he will live in fear. Some day he will go nuts.

I only show my horse how to NOT freak out, and he doesn't rear anymore. Not because he's scared, because he trusts me.

You shouldn't beat your horse, you should get him to respect you.

  • at 0:32 seconds, did I see you hitting him?

I'm not saying this because I think you'd hurt him, it's more because of his reaction.

Did it change anything? Your horse was probably spooked, stressed, maybe he didn't understand what you asked. I'm not blaming you, it's normal. But hitting him? If it really is what you did, then imagine yourself freaking out and being it. Will you be more confident? I doubt so.

    Good seat though.

  • @Naessly yes she did hit the horse at :32 right on the pole a very dangerous spot to be messing with.

  • @LifeIsDeceiving

Indeed :S It's sad that she didn't know how to react other than hitting him. I really wish people would understand how useless and bad it is to hit a horse!

It's dangerous for the horse, but for the rider too!

  • she's barn sour. meaing she wants nothing to do with leaving the barn. next time you get on her and she goes to do it take a crop with you one that has a wrist strap and before she gets a chance to rear or run off crank her head the other way and yell at her. be mean and kick her ass. you need to trust me i've done this for years and it works like a charm. if you keep letting her do this she'll get bad enough to the point that she'll take off with you or buck with you.

  • I want to applaud you for not caving in to stupid people, I agree with you that if your horse is bucking, there is no reason to hit him

  • 0:20

OMG. That Chestnut In That Background Is Jaw-Dropping Gorgess!!!!

  • @eissa37 Actually it looks like she may have given the horse a little pop between the ears, but a lot of trainers do that to make the horse understand rearing is not ok. Really you are supposed to do it while the horse it rearing because they think they hit their head on something and won't want to do it again.

  • When he rears, make him work where he rearing. Don't work him to exhaustion or anything, but make him go in circles each time he does it. This way he learns that the more he does it, the work work he has to do. It'll take time, but it will stop after a while. But he will probably test you later on, and just keep doing it.

  • out of curiosity, how did you stop it?? i ride a horse that rears a lot...and its getting worse, i dont like the idea of hitting her on the head and i dont usually have time to do that anyway, its more important to cling on :L but i dont know how to stop it :l i dont think its physical because some days shes fine... others shes terrible....any ideas?

  • @dizzybrowngirl hey, my horse rears a lot, too. I started training him to do it on command, so everytime he did it I shouted "up" and then made him do that over and over again even in situations when he wasn't on for a fight.

he got so bored of me having sorta fun with it that he stopped doing it in the wild way he used to do.

he still rears sometimes but it's always not all too dangerous and I'm fine with it now

don't know wether that helps with all horses but maybe it's worth a try ;-)

  • @LaskaSkywalker thanks!! i may aswell try it lol anythings worth a try at this point :)

  • @dizzybrowngirl no prob ;-) good luck with it =)

  • @eissa37 no...she just touched her helmet

  • Epic Riding! Where i ride a horse got a new saddle and i rode him and he went insane bucking and rearing .......SO MUCH FUN!!!!! xD

  • Fab riding, i hate rears, i just slide off the back ahahah, but well sat!

  • Ugh..looks like a rough ride.

  • weeeeeeee/

  • I hate herd bound horses.

  • I love it when horses rear up on me.. Unless they're 17h then it's scary :L

  • @mcr4eva645 I know. I wish my old 29 14h horsie would. but hes old and stubborn. and nothing makes him spook XD

  • My mare use to fight to get back to the pasture too. But she never reared. how did you fix her?

  • wow your making it rear

  • HAHA! She got some good height in there. I rode a horse who always tried rearing me off to get to the apple trees that were next to the arena. I had to take him in thousands of circles to distract him. Of course, if he was a good boy, he would get a fresh picked apple afterwards :) Good seat though

  • Naughty pony!!

  • Ahh, my horse does this too, but he's a hot headed barrel horse, my friends horse does it too! xD

  • Great seat, I wouldve falen off! At my barn we had a horse that would rear and rear so my trainer took a water balloon and popped it over his head when he reared up and he got so scared he never reared again!
