Is it not the Mantra of Capitalism to let something Fail and not artificially prop it up ?
Surely this is utter bunkem, just like a fat Tory Boss pretends he prefers cheap Foreign Labour because they are better workers when really he is looking for the lowest bidder, the same can be said for the high street. And I am sorry but what a cheek for a self employed Capitalist to ask for help from the state.
Its Simple I Wish It Was Like In The 80's No Corporate Shops. All Shops Sell The Same Junk From China Now There Is No Choice In The Market. The Corporate Shops Killed Small Shops. And There Are No Real Jobs To Fund The Retail Economy We Have Been De-industralised Banks N Shops Thats All We Have Now.
If the government paid everybodies mortgage off back in 2008 instead of throwing money at derivative bailouts then people would have money in their pocket and the banks would have money. Derivatives are just gambling bets on whether people would pay their mortgage.
Not having watched this, but listened to her on the BBC, she said that it was creating a new reason to go to the high street, she pointed out that car parks could be used for car boot sales... Then where would the people park? I also would love to hear what poundland would have to say about a car boot sale outside not paying business rates...
All 4 points above are valid, rents & rates are the two biggest issues business.
