Lol thats funny, my family's pretty much all from the carribbean so we just take dough and roll it up into a certain shape, then we steam or boil it then water it over in seasoning oil or meat's liquid sauce.
if you just want to have them boiled (and not fried) then just boil them until they start to float. it also depends what's in them; if it's meat, i would leave it a little longer, just in case. if it's veggie (how i like them) you really only have to do it until the wrapper turns from opaque to slightly clearish. add some sesame oil for taste & non-stickage.
if you fry them afterwards, then you really only need to "blanch" them because they will continue cooking when you fry them. enjoy!!
