The founder of LDS taught that the moon was inhabited by beings that dressed something like the quaker style and live to about 1000 years of age. This teaching can be found in a LDS early publication, "The Young Woman's Journal Vol3 pg263-264.

@Yunginspirit No it isn't, it's based on egalitarian ideals. Neither socialism nor capitalism are evil, but they both tend to become corrupted in practice. Socialism leads to stagnation. Capitalism facilitates growth, but runs itself out of control (like what's happening in our economy- too little regulation results in growing income gap and dissolution of the middle class). They are required to keep each other in check other out, which is why every functional economy in the world is mixed.

Scandinavia had an enlightened society while we were burning witches just 300 years ago.
Also, our constitution was written by deists. The founding fathers were enlightenment-era thinkers who fled here to take refuge from theocratic oppression. Above all, they understood the dangers of mingling politics and religion and set out to create a secular government, one free of divine imperatives and theocratic authority, one centered only on the liberty of the citizen collective. These are innate moral values, rooted not in religion but in reason.

Capitalism facilitates growth, but runs itself out of control (like what's happening in our economy- too little regulation results in growing income gap and dissolution of the middle class). They are required to keep each other in check other out, which is why every functional economy in the world is mixed.

Prophetic gifts exist today - but they are exercised in varying degrees in the local church body by ALL Born Again Christians - not just by one man. The Bible has already revealed what will happen in these Last Days. We don't have long.

It's perfectly fine how many will critcize the prophet when speaking....Look what happened when Noah built the Arch and all those people drowned because 'they' did not listen.....Same thing..so really, it doesn't matter what y'all say....You'll be the ones NOT prepared and be crying out....Mormons will be the ones to be prepared while the others weep and cry out for help...Mark my words! @lcromy Like I said before why would I want to listen to a so-called "prophet" or your mormon prophet to tell me anything. How about focusing on Christ instead of man. Men make mistakes. Christ is the authority. There is nothing wrong with following Christ and only Him. Perhaps you need to change your toon. The Bible never mentioned anything about mormon prophets.

@jlc19702 Amos 3:7 says, "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Focus is on Christ but Prophets have always played a vital role. I know LDS do follow Christ. Now this is where you do what Joseph Smith did and that's read James 1:5, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, & it will be given to you." If you know anything about the LDS church is its the restored church of Christ.

How could you not LOVE this. Not an emotional person but man I'm fighting it listening to President Benson. The Lord shut that great Prophet's mouth towards the end of his life, because nobody was listening to him.

Never did Jesus Christ teach that marriage must occur to reach a “celestial kingdom.” , they did not have to honor a day of the week, they did not have to wear garments, or enter into temples to receive rites. People who embrace these teachings and doctrines follow the rule of life laid down by someone other than Christ. They are not – based on the factual definition of a Christian

@jlc19701 The prophet doesn't just tell you things are looking bad, he tells you how you can get through them. The prophet speaks for God.
Older prophets warned of bad things that would happen, and they would tell the people how they could get through them. Not many listened. It ended bad for them.
The prophets shown have also passed away.
Anyway, like I said, the prophet(s) wasn't just telling people things were looking bad. These were just excerpts put together to form this video.

@YoiLoveSoup Undoubtably what he will tell you is that you should pay more money to the church. I'm pretty sure that prophets are just people who aren't stupid, who tell stupid people what to do. For the rest of us with brains between our ears, we are able to figure out the world without a prophet to tell us what we already know, or what is blatantly obvious. But we can do it without creating self-fulfilling prophecies, as the LDS prophet is doing in this instance.

@windigo77 and, about the money thing, we are the only church pretty much in the entire Christian world that no one in the entire church gets paid for service. It's exactly that, service. So any money we pay goes to exactly what it should, for helping others and building the Kingdom of God. The church has side businesses, like a lot of other churches do that pay for other things. Tithing is sacred, and treated as such within the church. So if I'm stupid for keeping commandments then so be it
