Hi Keith thanks for ur video on nat i have a question.in my topology when i ping to the web server then per ping it show 10 hits.how this happen please explain and can u post a video explaing wireless
Excellent video!!! Was wondering if you could post a video regarding the differences between a zone-based firewall and one configured in transparent mode. I'm just a little hazy as to when you would use the transparent mode approach.
I am in Vienna for a couple weeks on a project, but here is the scoop on transparent zone based firewall. The zones work the same, the rules work the same, it is simply adding the interfaces to the same bridge group, to make them effectively a L2 switch, with a zone based firewall attitude toward traffic. If traffic doesn't pass the rules of the firewall, including L3 and inspection related rules, the router won't forward the L2 frames like a L2 switch.
@Keith6783 Two questions, actually. 1-I notice you chose prefix-length when assigning NAT Pool and could not see what number you used. I went ahead and used 24 as it appeared that was the subnet mask used in the examples and 2-I noticed you only used ospf protocol on router R1 in your example. I'm pretty sure you would want to place all routers in the ospf protocol so as to telnet to source 3.3.3.3. Thanks for the challenge!
Hello- On the mask for the pool, I probably used /24 for the 60 and 80 pool, although I could have use a longer mask on the 80 pool.
All the nat was done to the 23.0.0.0 address space, and R3 is directly connected to that network, so routing works back to the global NAT addresses. You are right, R1 and R2 would need a route to 3.3.3.3, which could be done via OSPF, RIP, EIGRP or static routes.

What client are you sending the pings from? Are you sending 10 PING echo requests?

Hi Keith,
What router are you using for gns3? I used 3640 and could not statically route with NAT from your examples. Thanks for all you do.

I use the 3700 series. Let me know if you have other questions.
Best wishes,

Hi Keith, Im sudying for my ICND2 and want to setup a common frame relay so I can practice along with other labs. Do you have a frame setup lab?
Thanks,
