I guess they're in drop A with strings that were meant for bass. Death Metal don't neccesary equal extreme down tuning. Cannibal corpse did fine without it, but that's a whole different band I guess..

I was in a Speed Metal band where we tuned up to F/F# jus to make a statement; that wicked metal doesnt need to be downtuned. But then again, we never got a record deal, n now my guitars are tuned down to drop C and drop B hahaha

@ThaThing1337x depending on what kind of metal im doin at the time, i jump between D and B: for downtuning WITHOUT shitty sound, get DR'S DDT(dropdowntuning) STRINGS; no joke, they're the real shit, i've bought many packs, depending on what gauge u get, u can down-tune like a mofo n still have a tight-feel(like the kind when playin in E-standard tuning) ; i think sanders might actually use them not sure tho...

Yeah I know, if I had thicker strings, drop C on my guitar would sound way better.

But there is a point where the sound gets a bit too deep, and I think that's drop A.

Still, that's just my opinion. I do have thicker strings on the low E, A and D string to get a better tone and still be able to bend properly on the higher ones.

I can do just fine with 10's, but I might get 12's sometime, but the second guitarist in my band cant do drop tuinings on his floyd roseguitar
