A movie close to my heart. Everytime I watch it, no matter how many times, I always tear and sob. Mandy did a brilliant job in this movie and the chemistry between Shane and Mandy... Oh my.. makes my heart palpitate, my breath catches in my throat, leaves butterflies fluttering in my stomach and yet gives me a yearning feeling to seek this kind of a love, gives me hope everytime, that such a beautiful love really does exist. @KonohaCommunity According to Sparks, the end lies to the viewers, on how they would want it to end. The character of Jamie Sullivan was more like Sparks' sister, Dana, who died of cancer. Sparks explained that he couldn't afford to think that Jamie dies, because at the time that he wrote the novel, her sister was very much alive. He couldn't think of an exact ending so he left it on the viewers. Visit sparks' site, an explanation was made, bec he bumped to this question several times already.

The tension between them is absolutely breathtaking when she bares her shoulder, and he is just looking at her with those eyes....
