There's actually nothing that I don't like from Asimov. Fiction, non-fiction or educational/ informative, it's just all great what this man did! Wish he was still alive and could live forever. Asimov was a great mind! But the music in this video is really bad choice.
"Not to mention the Second Foundation are more or less Jedi except without light sabers."
Well, the only thing they have in common is the power to influence people's mind. Other than that, there is no comparison between the psychohistorians of the Second Foundation and the Jedis. The first are psychologists and mathematicians and the second some kind of knights from a cheap space opera, wich has nothing to do with real science-fiction (sorry, Star Wars fans).
i love the foundation series i have read all four books 8-7 times over this is good hard sci fi. i hope they do make a movie out of it but, on tv and not the big screen becuase honestly people will not pay to see this becuase this series is way too complex.
@ImperatorDerGalaxis oh absolutely-moreover the set design etc for the same echoed Asimov's era. But that was THE IDEA. In 76 and 77 Asimov and the whole genre of 40s and 50s pop adventure sci fi was fading to a more dystopian and surreal brand of the genre. Lucas was making sure an aspect of AMAZING GALACTIC FUN didn't all dry up and blow away for a couple of generations. He succeeded. I don't think that steals from Asimov as much as honors him.
You're only slightly correct here. Foundation is much larger than Harry Seldon, and that's why his math doesn't quite work. Also, get rid of the music. I like it, but it doesn't work here.
we need a foundation to create a conspiracy to steal the technology and equipment needed for a group to flee the earth and found a new society. Our planet is a slagheap, ruled by psychotic authoritarians bent on turning it into anti-humanistic cesspool.
It took me over 15 years to read this series. I think I bought the boxed set when I was about 20. The first book started out so boring and dull that I couldn't get into it. I may have gotten a fifth of the way into the book and set it aside.
I think a teacher in college gave me the fifth book that I didn't know about so I tried again to read the series but the same thing happened. Then last year I became a supervisor on night shift and had a lot of freetime at work so I started over again and read the first 3 books in a week or 2.
They were awesome. I started the 4th book a month ago and read it almost nonstop. Then I read the 5th book this week in a few days while watching T.V. at night. The last book was my favorite but I guessed wrong how it would end. And he left me wondering if the child was....you know. You definitely shouldn't read this series with any hints at what happens next or how any story ends. A movie could never do this justice.
Yes, it's shocking how many spelling and grammar errors there are in this vid. I always thought that science fiction fans were naturally more intelligent but I was wrong.
FYI - when a video requires reading, loud rock and roll music in the background is not useful. Thank god for the mute button. Otherwise, thumbs up!

Fucking Bullshit music does not deserve to be anywhere near anything relative to Isaac Asimov.

@foodmunkey yeah I have to concur. Better Alan Parsons or SHANE MORGAN or MATT COOPER (Shameless plug)...

Has any one noticed that George Lucas took both the Galactic Empire and Trantor concepts and placed them in his own movies?

Not to mention the Second Foundation are more or less Jedi except without light sabers.
What's really ironic is Lucas sued Battle Star Galactica when that movie first came out. What a clown.
