@jimlapbap 3. "She runs the show" "but" "she can't run her life" (Literally, "During the live program, she is confident," "but" "outside of work her heroism is weak")
@foreversapphire They made it look like it's all about hot girls and guys chasing after them, but really it's just about a team of comedy writers and their adventures.
@slothgooey Well not really. It's not the Japanese word; it's the English word spelled using Japanese characters. The titled reads "sātī rokku" which is pronounced somewhat like the English version.
The English word is "thirty", 6 letters. In Japanese they have "サーティー", 5 characters, and when romanized becomes "sātī" which is 4 letters. And finally, the actual Japanese word for 30 is "三十", "san-jū".
I wouldn't see anything wrong if it weren't for the music... it's just scary! I'm just waiting for hanna montana to jump out with a chainsaw and start killing everyone the whole time.
There's a difference between "missing the point" and recreating an intro to adapt to different tastes in a new culture, guys. This happens all the time in localization, and both ways.
I think i'm missing the point of how the Japanese are missing the point. To me this is just a clip of some of the funniest parts in the show.... I'm confused.
Because you can't translate the title of something, rather...you shouldn't. "To translate is to betray" lol BUT if they actually did, it would look like this 三十。ロック
PRoblem is, they're read it as "San-juu-Rock" lol...I hope you kinda get what I mean here...The way it's written, in the title is "Saa-te-i. Ro-ku" lol
This is not the intro, it's a promo for the show. Saying things like "A hit in America" and describing the plot like a trailer.

@jimlapbap What else does it say?
HeNeedsAKidney 2 weeks ago
@HeNeedsAKidney 1. "A Bit hit across America! Emmy and Golden Globe winner!!"
2. (the sign) "Female TV Writer in Distress!" (literally, "Broadcasting Woman Writer" and "Now in a struggle")

@jimlapbap 4. "Her daily life is unscripted" (Literally, "Day by day, the match/battle continues without rehearsal.")
(Sticklers might argue my interpretation, that's why I wrote the literal)

Because it is a different country with a vastly different culture.

I don't get it. The original had absolutely no lyrics. Why not just use the original and write everyones name in Japanese?

So do they change the jokes about her crushing and embarassing loneliness so they can continue to portray her as a sexy heroin as they do in this ad?
