Called spics, gooks, sand niggas, turban heads, wogs, slants, even yids, the human souls of collective discourse is always visited upon with bad karma and I don't meaning in the Buddhist way but as a bad things come back to claim for it pray, The sins of the father vitiated upon his or hers progeny. I really like this first scene one man's hate of everything eventually turning on him in the worst way. forewarned

This movie would have been far better in my opinion if they'd only done a couple of things, one of them kind of major admittedly. For one thing, it needed the Rod Serling Narration. Not using it was an awful mistake. Second, why not go black and white? That's a huge part of the original series' appeal in my opinion. Lastly...Spielberg's segment needed to be replaced with something else entirely.
@switchbuckle5th Spielberg was originally going to do a remake of The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street but changed his mind and went with Kick the Can instead. Apparently he shot his sequence AFTER the accident with John Landis' sequence and his heart just wasn't in the project anymore.
@TheTrailerGal Yep. I'd heard that too. And frankly you can kind of tell. His segment in the movie is some of the most lifeless work I've seen Spielberg produce. It honestly feels like "work for hire" film making. it's entirely understandable though that he wouldn't still have his heart in the movie after that. I can't imagine anybody really would.
@switchbuckle5th Work for hire? Don't make me laugh. This is THE perfect segment: the story, the music, the lighting and performances are great. It reminds me of Poltergeist and E.T. and looks as good too. If you want to see work for hire watch crap like Night Gallery, Columbo, Savage, Marcus Welby, Something Evil. That's work for hire. Spielberg had 100% creative control on this and it looks like it does because that's what he wanted. I wish I could make even a short movie as perfect as this.
@TheTrailerGal Wow... If this is Steven Spielberg without his heart into it... This is still better than most modern day directors with their heart completely into it!!!!!! What does that say about modern day movie making and it's detachment from real life!!!!!! :)

A lesson: If you are ever driving at night in the middle of nowhere with Dan Aykroyd and he asks you if "You wanna see something really scary?"
Say "No".
