  • I agree with odotson, a kiss such as the one they almost had would have caused a scandal in the era .

  • "Island in the Sun" is an interracial lie...another colorful example of Hollywood racism that still exists today. Just ask Halle Berry?

  • WHAT I MEANT TO SAY IS WHY CAN'T A GIRL BE GORGEOUS AND CLOSE TO PERFECT IN HOW SHE THINKS ABOUT HER LIFE?

  • IF SHE HAD KISSED THAT WHITE DUDE SHE WOULD HAVE LOST SOME OF HER BOYFRIEND'S RESPECT FOR HER. WHY CAN'T GIRLS BE PERFECT? SHE WAS THANKFUL THAT SHE WOULD NOT KISS HIM. AND THAT HOW A BEATIFUL GIRL WITH A BOYFRIEND SHOULD BE. IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT PLEASING OTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU HAVE TOO FINE, BUT IF YOU DON'T JUST BE THANKFUL FOR YOUR BOYFRIEND'S SAKE PRETTY LITTLE FEMALE!!

  • THAT MAKES HER EVEN HOTTER THOUGH. THAT HE COULD NOT KISS HER.

  • The film Tamango was banned in the USA because of love scenes between white and black. Miscegnation is the correct term. The constant message of separation even in films. One day, in another 50 years maybe the counter thinking of our society will dissipate.

  • Yes the filmmakers were very scared to let them kiss; of course all of the cast, especially Dorothy and her co-star John thought it was extremely dumb and a big mistake. What makes things worse is that the critics (the ppl they feared would be shocked about it) were actually hoping that they would've let them kiss. They thought the movie lacked terribly in passion.

  • i wish they couldve just kissed at the end instead of that weird cheek rubbing thing

  • @Motownman100 Yes, felt it was sweet, but wish they were able to kiss...

  • @Motownman100 I'm pretty sure they weren't allowed to kiss...not in that day and age.

  • @Motownman100 blacks wasn't allowed to kiss whites in those times. Sorry

  • Such a kiss would not have been permissible in the 1950s -- on screen.

The social construction of race would not have allowed it.

  • not much actin...cuz he did love her...awww they really really really need to invent a time machine soon lol

  • Oh my G-d she was a princess

  • @burnley5960 Yes ;o)
