What is it with Boxers? My neighbors have a barking pair, as well. Start with phone calls. If their dogs are waking you, call their ass at 3 am. What do your local noise ordinances say? Any help there?
My neighbors leave their dogs out until they go to bed (11:30 or later) and let them out again first thing in the morning. The owners have made no effort to train the dogs, so after 3 months of this crap, I've been going outside when they are barking and training them myself. If they stop barking when I use the command, I give them a little bit of food and praise them. So far, I can get them to be quiet for up to an hour. Can you get close enough for something like that? Good luck!
Both the Environmental Health Officers and the Police are extremely unlikely to push the matter.
Get some meat (beefburgers or something) and coat the meat in anti-freeze, heap on as much of the stuff as you can. Alternatively, put the anti-freeze in a bowl (neat) for the dogs to drink. Anti-freeze is extremely poisonous to dogs. It would be better to do this when there is snow/ice on the ground. Looks less suspicious. 1000's of dogs die each year from "accidental" poisoning from anti-freeze.
There are these little bark arrest devices, which recognize the sound of a bark, and punish the dog back with some sort of ultra sound beeping. Works up to 50 feet away I think.
Have you looked into trying one of those type of gadgets?
My neighbor's dog had pups this winter, and he decided to keep ALL TEN of them. These huskys are kept on short chains, never played with or walked, all they have to do with their crappy life is to bark and make my life a "living hell".I love animals, but I have grown to hate these dog so much I am shaking just typing this. I've tried everything, talked and wrote letters to the city, and SPCA. They say pretty much don't want to get involved. Help me and e mail the City of Yellowknife NT Canada.
good luck with those noisy ass neighbors. its not the dogs its the owners. you are not alone with this problem, i have 3 bassett hounds next door and my neighbors have done nothing. instead they say we are intimidating them by recording the barks. your not alone and unfortunately those irresponsible owners arent either. the judge will go in your favor, i PROMISE YOU they will.
Encourage these people to get rid of their dogs (give them away to new homes) and become CAT PEOPLE. Ahhh....nice quiet kitties. I have one and the neighbors probably have no idea she even exists cause...CATS DON'T BARK.
I can't believe how ___ patient you have been. The no poison no guns policy does limit you. People who can't be good pet owners SHOULD NOT HAVE PETS. They should just put them in the house or garage when they leave. Some people are so rude! Put some sleeping pills in some hamburger and toss it over the fence. That should give you some quiet time and its not poison. They should just step up and get rid of them noisy pests. Thats what they are pests not pets. The owners too.
Why don't you make a recording of the barking and play it as loud as possible at your neighbores front door when they are sleeping? Then on to each of the city council members homes...lets say around 2:00am? How about endless gobs of peanut butter? These home owners should be ashamed of themselves. They should atleast kennel the dogs when they're gone. Sorry you have to live next to that family.
Good job with your video: it clearly demonstrates the nuisance and your frustration with it. Keep making videos; that might be your only or best way of not going insane from the barking.
Is there a barking statute in your municipal code?
My first step would be to call the police and make a noise complaint. Keep calling. Have you considered legal action? A hefty fine will get the owner's attention.
How about starting a noise war? No one wins, but at least you get some revenge.
