Really brought me to tears at times cause u get to know the people, and you learn what their like and then they sacrifece their lives, to stop some dwarves from collapsing the tower of babel!!!!!
The best game it's absolutely NOTabout a graphics...There are system, gameplay, cast of characters (which it to be honest, the most important to build feelings to the game) & their development throughout the game, interfaces, choice of scenes/action, music, and many thing to count something to have 'BEST' predicate.
People recently only judged the best based on graphics. And of course, that's totally wrong. Many great game with the not-so-HD graphics, like Pokemon, Ragnarok Online, etc
But traduction is changed in this version ? (Normally, Sabin said "now I know what for those stupid muscles serve") (yes, i like a lot the Figaro's bros part)
depends, if you dont recruit cyan they are going to show you a picture of doma instead of his ending or if you dont have shadow they r going to show u a picture of thamsa.
but altought you dont recruit Terra she will go to kefka tower anyways
FFVI was never released on the SNES for PAL, so we had to use one of those universal adaptor cartridge thingies to play the NTSC American copy. It was fine until you got to this ending sequence, then when Gogo falls down the hole you see his eyes then it goes black and the rest of the ending is unseen. ARGGGHH.
I think this game without a shadow of a doubt, was the reason Square became a household name. FF7 stole most the hype.(not sayin it was a shit game.) FF6 was and is the model of true Rpg's, and I fucking hate the genre. The story, the music, the action it was all beautiful, I mean what kind of game goes from this positive outlook to out of nowhere psycho apocolyptic nightmare?!? The anwser is, nothing but FF6. FF8 was shit, and so was all the others afterwards.
Okay, 10 was shit, but it was the best FF since 6. At least they TRIED to make a bit more of an interesting story what with Tidus not existing and Jecht being Sin, even if it made no fucking sense and was full of plotholes and THEY THEMSELVES ruined the twists before the end of the game, but they TRIED. The only thing they TRIED to do with 7, 8 and 9 was rehash 6's story, screw it up with a plothole-laden cloning idea in 7's case, then add more fanservice and angst to make a truckload of cash.
There's more to games than just plot. The gameplay of X was beyond awful as well. No exploration, no freedom, every monster dies in one hit, Anima can kill the hardest boss in the game in 2 hits...its ridiculous.
I'm sorry you didn't like FF7's scifi story. I thought it was brilliant, and it served as a critique of modern society as well, while also borrowing from the book of revelations. To me, it was pretty brilliant. The gameplay was also VASTLY superior to the other games.
Not RPGs. FF7's gameplay may be better than 10's, though I personally had slightly less of a boring time playing 10, but these are RPGs. It's like saying, "AIDS has a lower death rate than being stabbed in the face". Just because it's better doesn't mean you want it. If I want gameplay I'll play one of my other hundred games that actually have GOOD gameplay. I have nothing against scifi, or sci fantasy in this case which FF7 is, but the plot was just retarded.
RPGs dont have good gameplay??? THATS YOUR ARGUMENT????? WOW, just, WOW. Last time I checked, Baldur's Gate, WOW, Everquest, heck even the original D&D had better gameplay than any game ever has. GAMEPLAY MATTERS. If I just want a story, and only that, I'll watch a movie or read a comic or a book.
Also, FF7's story was very cinematic which is why I think many people loved it. It was ridiculously complicated for all you super geeks, which made it all the better.
Baldur's Gate had good gameplay FOR ITS TIME. DnD, same goes, though DnD's main success is in the social aspect. EQ's gameplay is terrible if you were to actually think about it, and since it's essentially the same game, the same goes for WoW. Gameplay only matters when it's good, and the only RPG I've encountered to have good gameplay is the later Tales games.
And if FF7's story was complicated I would've actually liked it.
What do you define as gameplay??? For me, it's freedom and customizeability and being able to explore and having my actions have a consequence in the game. Also, wildly overcomplicated plots are rarely good, except for video game nerds. What matters MORE are the characters, the world, the themes, and an original plot that stays focused. FF7 had all that, and had a plot more like a movie or best selling book than a convoluted game.
sounds to me like you're a little bit of a fanboy. Why don't you look over some of the Playstation 1 rpg titles. you'll be hard pressed to find games better than those.
Though I do admit that I'm not a huge fan of FFVII (and proudly, at that)
So what, FFVIII was good because it was even more emo than VII (somehow), and IX was good because it was praised as 'retro' even though all Final Fantasy games are identical thus making it... More identical?
Where in balls did I ever mention a final fantasy game other than my distaste for FFVII? There are tons of RPGs for the psx BESIDES FF, you know. *sigh*
I assumed by you calling me a fanboy you were defending Square.
And, honestly, what did you have in mind? Most people rant endlessly about the SNES and PS2 for RPG's; never heard someone think the PSX had the best.
The suikoden series, for one. The best two games of the 5 were both on PSX. Legend of Dragoon was a good one. The first Grandia game was on PSX. Star Ocean 2 as well. Xenogears was a good one. Valkyrie Profile, Vandal Hearts, Vagrant Story, Lunar, Chrono Cross, Wild ARMs 1 and 2, etc. There's a plethora of great RPGs for the PSX.
Played a few of them... But I'm pretty picky with RPGs. If it gets too archetypically Japanese then I tend to just throw it out on its arse. But then, I'm the kind of person who thinks the best story in a game wasn't any RPG, but Bioshock.
VP? Yuck. Bought that for PSP, would've regretted it if it wasn't $20. Talk about a lack of plot.
Never got to play through Xenogears. Battle system was interesting from what I saw, but that's about all I saw.
omg no way! I'll admit psx had a great number RPGs, but no more than SNES alone (i'm counting RPGs for SNES in just Japan).
Chrono Trigger, FF4 & 6, Tales of Phantasia, Super Mario RPG, Lufia 1 & 2, Terranigma, Link to the Past, Seiken Densetsu 2 & 3, Earthbound, the Breath of Fire games, Harvest Moon, Bahamut Lagoon...
There are a lot more that a lot of people love but i never got around to playing or just forgot about...
So what. He thinks he's Cloud. Then he thinks he's a clone. Then he has a mental breakdown because he's a clone... Then he realizes that he was just remembering himself as the wrong person in his flashbacks?! How could you be so fucking retarded as to let a slip of memory send you to a mental breakdown?! Not to mention Sephiroth's immensely generic reasons for wanting to destroy the world... Seriously, I'll stick to Shadow Hearts Covenant and Tales of the Abyss, thanks.
The slip of memory didn't break him down. He broke down because of everything that happened with Sephiroth and Shinra, and the mako poisoning, and all the psychological trauma. Dude, its not that hard to figure out. Although, I personally would've liked to see him be just a clone.
Also, Sephiroth is meant to be an archetype. Specifically, he and Jenova and the tattoos on people's hands, its all a Revelations tale. Its meant to be archetypal.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a nice person; I only reccomend better games because I hate seeing Square get money they don't deserve (IE any money they get ever). Tales of the Abyss is also a brilliant RPG; its story is kind of sucky but the character development (especially Luke and Jade) is fantastic.
Disgaea 2's also awesome if you don't mind non-serious stuff. It makes me laugh, a -lot-.
To be honest, the best part in each of the Final Fantasy's is the ending. No more bosses and great music too. I love this ending expecially other endings. Thnx square enix!
I always saw Gogo's fall at that point as simply a goofy stunt. I didn't see him aboard the airship, though... Damn, you're right. He dies. Shadow too. :(
Now, why doesn't any of the other characters mention any of them? Also, where did Interceptor go?
@WCarnation You're definitely didn't played the game. If you really follow the story, you'll understand. Unfortunately, the GBA version scrapped the better words from SNES, make it harder to get.
But yes, the ending of FF6 did explained everything.
