  • i just want to make battletoads game with today graphics

  • Good idea, using Battletoads on VHS.

  • yaA great game motorbike lvl killer hard

  • The giant robo-spider accidently threw a bunch of rocks into his ammo cartridges. Fuckin' goof.

  • this game was very hard! finally i can see how is 3 level :P

  • The Genesis one doesn't have a title sequence... :(

  • This is hard as Tmnt 1 ,maybe harder.

  • Wow, you are a GENIUS !! you've mastered it !! hehehe, I used to hate this game, SO hard to play when you are a... 25yrs old boy, LOL :P kidding..

  • I owned this game for genesis and i have to say its pretty damn similar considering how different the nes and genesis were!

  • if anybody says modern games are hard

tell them to play this game

  • 2 people got the BIG BOOT!

  • I don't care what anyone says, everyone who says they beat this without Game Genie or save states are lying. This game is impossible.

  • @jidar Speak for yourself. Just because you found it impossible doesn't mean it's impossible for others.

Yes, I did finish this game when I was 15, on a NES. Took me 4 weeks of solid playing but I got it in the end.

  • @jidar I beat this game when i was a kid. its possible but believe me when i say it was hella hard!

  • I have reached the gargantua Dark queen ship only once,

but after that I gave up trying...Never finished the game,

and the Snake lair sometimes glicthed...=(

  • The Dark Queen was hot.

  • HARDEST. FUCKING. GAME. I. EVER. PLAYED.

  • remember how cool it was back then when he did that kick with the huge boot?

  • Man, you are realy genius on this game. And if in russian - zadrot.

  • i have this on my nes and i know this game is hard really hard il got only to the winter place

  • Pure joy to watch. I played this game long after I realized it was impossible. It was so good, I refused to believe it was that hard. Bravo.

  • ah 1991...my birth year!!

  • Level 2 and 3 are, in my opinion, the hardest levels in the game!

  • Gamestop has this game.

  • @Almightydusk They're always supposed to have this game. :)

  • @Almightydusk For what system?

  • @SickFizzix It'd be best to call and find out.

  • 0:18 Is that SNES Mode 7 scaling on an NES?

  • This game still fucks you up, tears you another a-hole and then pisses on your burning corpse only to light it on fire again.

  • i dont think alot of players knew the game had more than 3 lvls lol beat this once and i dont intend on trying again :P

  • lmfao toad-load

  • Thumbs up if you think Battletoads deserve a Xbox 360 revival

  • great nes game, one of my favorites. challenging, fun, great graphics for 8bit nes, and of course the music was excellent.

  • Comment removed

  • the music is faaaaaaaaaaaaantastic

  • jesus christ this game is hard

  • @jonoisgood hard? its fucking punishment for bad past life deeds.

  • Old School!

  • I've always loved the sound effects from Battletoads.

  • I never beat this game as a kid... :( too hard!

  • Level 2 was the best, the wookie hole! SOOOOO fuckin fun!

  • The farthest I could get was to the Turbo Tunnel and that would be all she wrote for me because it's a pain in the ass and I just couldn't do it as a kid.

  • good god i hated this game on an emulator, quit after 4 deaths, surprisingly ALL IN ONE FREAKING SPOT.

  • That intro was the same intro for battle todes and battle maniacs for the snes.

  • WOW! I remember this fucking game from back in the day; took me forever to beat this fucker.. I got grounded a couple of times for screaming at the TV

  • Nice playthrough bro, cool to see a dude with skill master a game you know.

  • Oh my god!! :D I used to play this game when I was like 6 with a good friend of mine!!! So much fun :D:D, was never able to finish it thoguh :S, so difficult!

  • the second level me and my friend use to just BASH the crows around and get 1UPS ALL THE TIME. I used to PAUSE THE GAME JUST TO HEAR THE BEAT CRAZY RIGHT:)

  • still trying to figure out how to kick in level 1.

  • love the big shoe when the toads kicks :-D so much fun

  • Oh, yes...I remember many a time throwing my controller in rage as a child playing this....I would probably do it today, too. ^^;

  • @PandaChan29 No doubt about it. I rented this game many times....NEVER finished it. I like the Aracde version a bit better. Still a pain.

  • I like the sound effects in this game, especially the noise when you beat the shit out of someone! POW! POW!

  • damn, i thought this was super nintendo at first. these are graphics are exception for the nes.

i played this game for sega genesis growing up. i love it's sense of humor miixed with great challenging but fair gameplay.

  • I still have a nes in working order and I'm looking for a game I borrowed many years ago,I was pretty sure it was Battletoads but this isn't it.I think it might have been "something" vs Battletoads maybe?I know you could play in 2 player mode and you travelled up in elevators.I've googled it but no luck, anyone have any ideas?Or have I lost it?!Thanks

  • Battletoads Double Dragon : The ultimate team

    Little late response but xD

  • it might be battletoads and double dragon for NES(NOT SNES). its a rare game to find and was better/smoother than the sega and SNES version. go for the original version

  • Goddamn, he makes it look easy

  • The difficulty on this game was ridiculous!!! lol still a great game tho.

  • i fucking hated those robots. i threw my controller as a pissed of 8 year old plenty of times. the only one that can compete with this level of difficulty is kid icarus.

  • You are a GOD of gaming.

  • all the technology we have today and there still isnt a game harder than battletoads...actually mushihime-futari might be harder. i past stage 1 of battletoads but would never beat stage one of that game.

  • the new games suck....I always considered NES games to be amongst the most challenging (megaman series anyone?!) if not impossible (too many to mention). However as frustrating as some of the games are I still consider NES the funnest system ever only second to SNES. Maybe the new games are so easy to compensate for how stupid kids are these days. Their too dumb for problem solving thanks to the "education" system and the motorskills are compromised from all that ritalin.

  • yea something about nintendo just cant b beat. imeen even the process of getting the games to work brings back memories. lol my bros and i all had different tech. to get the game started and took turns lol

  • Come on. Not all of the new games suck, just the vast majority of them. There are still some game developers that use creativity to make a good game, rather than just innovative technology. Have you played Braid. It maybe 2D, but it says a lot for what gaming could potentially be. Bioshock and Portal are really fun as well. They are both pretty original games, and enjoyable not because of their difficulty, but because of the overall experience.

  • i could imagine them bringing this to XBLA and the achievements would be a BITCH to get lol. shit all they need is 2 and that would be 1. complete ALL levels using no warps and 2. finish a co-op game offline or online.

  • the graphics are better than an Xbox 360 game!

  • Oh hell yeah. 3d still doesn't have the technology to be done right. These old games look 50 times better.

  • @parlopazor lol wtf? you mean better than GTA IV or halo 3?

  • @Bendzsi93NEW1 Yeah, can't you hear?

  • @edwardnr17 O_O No, I cant read a comment like this xD

  • @parlopazor that's not saying alot.

  • @parlopazor Funny how battletoads has more colors than almost any modern xbox game. Just look at gta 4, brown, white and black, that's 3.

  • @parlopazor LOL Good one XD

  • @parlopazor Think you meen PS3

  • Ah, the Wookie Hole. I think my brother deliberately killed me more in that level than in any other. He liked to cut my line with that bird's beak. Oh, the joys of childhood!

  • Same here, dude!

  • for give m0re emotion would be in 2 players mode, anyway is good

  • well then you might enjoy our playthrough (check profile)

  • funny intro music : )

  • I always did the 1up trick in the Wookie Hole. It helped plenty with stages I was bad at, like Terra Tubes & Karnath's Lair.

    Good show.

  • Is this Battletoads?

  • No, it's Doom 3

  • this game was a classic. nowadays its all about halo and call of duty

  • so true. but hey, even though everyone cares about cod and halo alot of classic games are still palyed (dune 2 total annihilation, zelda, metroid, mario, metal gear)

  • Rareware should do a 1080p XBLA remake of this game and reboot the Battletoads franchise on the Xbox 360 with a 3D game.

  • aaah battle toads was a good game..

  • The first half of the Turbo Tunnel always creeps me out, between the music and level design...

  • after seeing ur playthrough i had no idea that i ran out of lives when i was literally a couple floors below the final boss. i think i did this when i was in the 4th grade lol. this game is the only game i was never able to beat :(

  • I kinda mastered the third level, but I was usually finished in the ice level or snake level. I needed to play more I guess...

  • Wow you are an awesome player. I remember back in the day, I usually was capable of reaching mid-game. The late levels are not really difficult, so once I almost finished the game! There was like 2 stages left but I died. I never finished it.

  • you gotta love the 8-bit sounds and music for this game

and the pause music kicks ass

  • was i the only person who found this game seriously difficult?

still can't beat it like. lol

  • Google is your friend...

  • Awesome!!

  • Best game for the nes ever!

  • you're the man!

  • Ahh the memories. I remember how much this game pissed me off though. But it was a game of epicness!! Still my faivortie!

  • 3:22, I love that face they make. That should be incorporated into more games.

  • How could a game so insanely difficult have such great music that stands the test of time?

  • i agree the main theme is still pretty darn good.

  • I remember having this for my SUBPAR NINTEINDO.

Actually no, it was just a regular NES.

  • Is this the first Battletoads game in the Battletoads Serries

  • Yes, indeed it is :)

  • @shincyriades In order to considerer yourself a GAMER, before you must finish this awesome game!!. You rocks bro, I still remember all the hours that i spend whit my Battletoads copy, and thats the way to beat it!!!!!!

  • @thegr8estone

as i know there is another earlier game for game boy. (is that because the conversion for game boy of this game is called "in ragnarok world" and not just battletoads"

  • my first game played !!!

  • This looks great. ill contact Gamestop tomarrow and see if they have it.

  • I laughed.

  • I used to play this with my dad. Oh Battletoads. :D Coolest music ever.

  • I never managed to get past the wind-tunnel :(

Gotta hook up my NES and try again

  • You can ride the dragons at 2:57 =P. I remember when this game launched. Toughest damn game I have ever played. Beating this game gave me a sense of accomplishment that I haven't had in a game. Was fun AFTER I beat it lol. Not so much before...

  • The wii version got delayed again D:

  • Those bastards, they better not run out of straps.

  • I heard its just going to be with the collectors edition now.

  • That's it, I'm going to call and file a complaint.

  • lol the beginning with the way the ship flies by and everything is a rip off of PREDATOR.

  • to think that the makers of this game moved on to make BK of all things...

  • I believe Gamestop is the only place that is bringing out the new edition for the Wii.

  • This is so awesome! You captured the music and the "dialogue" and everything. I loved this game so much, I wanted to hold onto my NES just for this. I never did win...I think I had gotten to level nine.

  • one of the hardest games ever.

  • To quote the demotivational poster: Infinite Win of Awesome.

Battletoads is TOO hardcore for YOU! (points at random guy who never got past a certain level- I.E. gaming mortals and lesser demigods.), but ya gotta admit, this game rocked- and everyone knew it!

  • womble1521 - Sega doesn't suck, it was just a unexpected removal.

Quote me if I'm wrong, but...

Sega's got some great games that Nintendo never came out with. In fact, a lot. God, I love this game, but I just can't beat it. Ahhhh!!!

  • hell ya. SEGA rules!!!!!!!! the first time i ever played battletoads was on Sega Genisis.

  • yeah but the nes version was better though! I love SEGA but this particular game was better in nes.

  • To this day I have not made it past the go kart part! Granted I am not a big video game player... Still haven't gotten past the ice temple in Ocarina of time neither

  • If u do the first part fast theres is a warp tunnel to lvl 3 if u are fast

  • we loved battletoads

we'd fight each other all the time

  • *&^%*% dont know bout my battle toads

  • Battletoads for the wii?

  • without a doubt the most challenging and difficult game for the NES (or maybe any other system). but one of the greatest games i've ever played

  • any one know when the new battle toads for the wii is coming out?

  • I gotta say, watching that level 2 part makes me question why I used the warps when I beat this game. Maybe getting the lives would've been the way to go. Good work

  • I used to play this with my brother, but when you get to use the legs of that robot as a weapon, my brother and I would always just end up whacking and killing each other. Good times, lol

  • This game had the best opening for an NES game, with the ship landing on the planet.

Memories from playing this game. It somehow reminds me of Ninja Turtles lol. But this game is cool.

  • XD 3:55 lol "a toad load of trouble", classic.

  • Even though this kind of rips off TMNT, that game is awsome!

  • if you play this at a party, press start, see what happens

  • this man knows what he's talking about

  • Out of all the NES games I've played, this is the only one that hinders my ascension to greatness. I can't past that damn Clinger Winger stage. Damn Orb!

  • My all time favorite action game. I'm the only person I know who could beat it. Then again, I only knew one other person who had it, and he couldn't get past the speeder bikes.

The underwater level was a nightmare. For the longest time I'd run out of continues on that level. Caused many tantrums. Being able to rack up loads of 1ups on level 2 definitely helped.

  • I beat this game before SNES came out and I just now found out this game had warps.

    NOOOOOOooooOOO!!! That hurts

  • The warps are hard to get to, though.

1st one in the first level would have been easy, but from there you need luck to get them :P

  • This game is a classic, I remember as a kid I could only make it to the turbo tunnel and then I would get owned by the turbo cycle sequence. That was when games required an an insane level of skill.

  • Oh man me too, that damn tunnel was the hardest thing

  • The theme song and the pause song both kick ass

  • i rememer that you could ride on the back of those flying beasts and they could shoot "fireballs" :)

  • i hated the part with the bikes

  • Man I has this for 2+ weeks & couldn't beat it. This was back in '96!!!

  • Yeah this game was hard as shit. I thought i was the only one who couldn't beat it. I had to use Game Genie, remember that, to skip to the last level.

  • hardest game of all time

  • The bast and hardest game in the universe

  • This game is fun. I have to say. I first played the Arcade version at a local pool about 3 years ago(yeah luckly i found i was like Battletoads? Arcade??? HOLY SHIT!!!) now i recently found out an NES version i managed to find it hosted in a website.

  • Hey, did you hear about the Battletoads anime before? That's right, there's an anime of the classic game Battletoads, but 4Kids won't do the dub to it. What I want you to do is to say 4Kids on their youtube channel (4KidsUSA) that they suck for not doing the dub and/or spam their channel.

  • Are you talking about the lone episode of Battletoads, LolBattletoads?

I have seen it before and found it to be enjoyable in some ways, especially the cheesy Beach Boys wannabe theme song :).

  • Oh, and ladies and gentlemen, this clip comprises the entirety of the non-ridiculous part of this game. It's all downhill from here. You'll see what I mean shortly.

It was quite a shock for me when I rented this all those years ago. Did fine for 2 1/2 levels, and then...doom. (This is one of those games where unlimited continues would not have helped in the slightest.)

  • As I remember, this is one of those games that got vastly greater accolades years after its release than I ever remember it getting during the actual NES era. How this ever got held up as an example of a typical NES game, I don't understand...in my experience, the likes of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out and Rush 'n Attack were far more common; not really hard until near the end and eminently beatable.

Anyway, thanks for the complete run. Always cool to watch, regardless of circumstances.

  • You and DT rock so hard for this! I never got to see the ending for this game. Shit, I never even got past the level you warp to from the speed bike level (not to mention never beat level 3 period). In fact, the ONLY Battletoads game I ever beat was the GB version.

Sad, I know. but thanks to guys like you, I finally get to see how some of my favorite games I never finished were beaten.

  • Thanks for your kind words! Daniel and I continue trying to bring cool games and strategies to youtube - just wait til you see what we're cooking up now ;)

  • I'm glad that you appreciate this play through, DarkSyde24 :). I am sure that you could finish this game if you gave it your all. It is very beatable, but takes practice like anything.

  • Hmm, I like this playthrough. One day I'm actually going to make a Battletoads fan-made. But it sure takes a lot of skills to beat Battletoads.

  • Sweet, I look forward to seeing your fan-made Battletoads project, GameDude 2, you can do it! :)

Battletoads is definitely challenging and if memorization counts as a skill, than yes it does require a lot of "skill" to beat this game.

There isn't much skill involved otherwise, except for quick reflexes, since Battletoads is basically a trial and error game from start to finish.

  • Umm, not that it's part of the subject but DTysonator, have you played the "final" Battletoads game for the arcade by any chance. Cuz, in my opinion that's the best game of the series!

  • Sure have, GameDude2, and I agree with you, the arcade game seems like the definitive Battletoads game.

It's mostly a beat 'em up, but there are also some different levels from what I remember.

My only problem with the game is that the toads never truly do battle with the Dark Queen. She taunts them between levels at times, but that is about it unfortunately.

  • Well, the unique thing from the arcade game is the increase level of violence, making it the gruesome game in the series, not to mention they remove the original score count in favor of tally for kills. It's also the only game that features voices. The bosses are insane too. But yea, I'm not happy that Dark Queen isn't the final boss, but hey. At least it's Robo-Manus again.

  • Yeah, the violence is indeed pretty graphic in the arcade game, but it works.

Thw boss battle with the giant snake stands out the most in my mind, but the battle vs. Robo Manus is also pretty cool as you mentioned.

  • You mean Karnath the snake? Yeah but I like Robo-Manus's new look in the arcade. I mean he's a giant like most final bosses and he looks more menacing! Now, Big Blag. I can't describe it.
