@filippo333 I actually have a Windows7 system. While 7 is far and away better than Vista it still isn't as reliable as XP. It has crashed 3 times from updates in the short time I have had it. Once it wouldn't even recover with the "recover disk". Had to low level format the HD with a live Linux disk b4 the windows disk could even install. My XP desktop been running over 3 years on the original install. Started using Linux 1 year ago and now use it more than any version of Winblows.
Umm, never had any Windows installation behave like that. If were gonna talk about cursor problems maybe Canonical should fix that cursor bug that's been around for a couple of years. I mean with all that linux for humans and it should be accessible for everybody it's kind of a big deal to not be able to change cursors for visually impaired people.
I know I'm preaching to the wrong people... but you know just as well as me that desktop linux sucks. Sorry. I'm happy with my linux phone though.
It's better than XP, my retarted cat is better than XP.What about W7??? Ubuntu is not user friendly as MS OS or Mac OS it's doesnt have standardized installation files like DMG or EXE, It has tar.bz2 and all kind of bullshit "compress" ways.Standardize DEB as default!!! I dont wont to compile files!I dont wont to use TERMINAL, NO I DONT WHAT to!I want to use a PC i dont wonna be used by it!When you understand that and leave hard core terminal geeks behind you will succeed!
@extrapobro Yeah, whatever... if a pc is just a machine to check your hotmail.. keep your windows...
Now Windows is more friendly? well, after a while using linux, every time I use windows I feel everything is wrong in it... Think about it, if you were born using windows, it seams easier to use...
@DanielDSousaOriginal Bravo! clap, clap, clap! I bet you would be even happy with no GUI OS ;) dude you intentionally missed the point just to start some trivial discussion how you have to be geek to use PC.My girlfriend doenst give a fuck about anything, she just want to point and click that red fox and open here Facebook on Google (that is how she describe it) ;)
the ad was awkward becuase if u get tired of all those things you'll get tired of windows to becuase windows + ubuntu has log in, log out, standby, passwords, mouse(black+white), screensavers. This ad made no sense. :s I do like how smooth and polished that Ubuntu logo looked w/ text under it. :p
@bboybram Dude that didn't make much sense at all. windows aren't crap. Most people upgrade Linux versions because they have a shit PC (No offence)
If you want the most out of windows then get a good PC, you will find that they are good but i must admit Linux is nice to. And macs for that matter...
@jigglesnap Let's see here. less ram usage, faster booting time, complete updates every six months, a bunch of programs pre-installed, complete customization. Not to mention that it's all free...
Faster boot time? Liar. Completely irrelevant anyway since other operating systems support hibernation.
Yes, you have to wait for 6 months to get an update. In Windows you get updates immediately. "It's so great to wait 4 months for the latest Firefox lol!"
Bunch of useless freetard trash pre-installed.
Ubuntu is garbage. I should know; I've used it for 3 years. It's only free if your time is worthless. BOTH my Ubuntu machines are currently inoperative.
@jigglesnap Less ram means less power usage everyone knows that.... That means even a heavy linux distro like Ubuntu is more environment friendly than Windows...
Linux gives you updates regularly, everyday, only major updates every couple of months.... Compared to Windows updates everyday and major updates every couple of years.....
If your Ubuntu machines are inoperative, from my use of Linux on machines for the last 6 years , is that you broke them......
@BUCKYAUSTIN You're clueless about how computers work. Typical for a freetard.
Ubuntu only gives security updates on a daily basis. And those don't mean much. Linux security holes go unfixed for years.
In Windows or OS X, you upgrade your Firefox to the latest version the day it comes out. In Ubuntu, you have to wait 4-6 months or dick around on the command line setting up something that won't integrate right.
Asking freetards for help is a waste of time. They're just as clueless as you.
@jigglesnap Ok well mate as I said before I'm doing an honours degree in Advanced Computers, I know what I'm on about when it comes to computers..... Did u mention firefox what the hell does that have to with Mac or M$???
firefox updates come out at the same time nearly for every os.....Try to make sense please
No matter how slow Linux holes take to patch windows is slower and mac is slower than that..... and why would people bother to even hack or send a virus to a linux machine???
@BUCKYAUSTIN What the hell are you smoking, ShipIt CDs? Firefox is updated for all OSes at once, but Ubuntu users CAN'T ACTUALLY USE IT until the next Ubuntu release, which is months later.
No one bothers to write viruses for Linux for the same reason they don't bother to write games or other useful software for Linux: The number of people who use it is negligible, there are so many distros and configurations that developing for them all is a nightmare, and nothing works right anyway.
@jigglesnap Saying that ubuntu users cant get the new Firefox till a new ubuntu comes out tells me you didnt use linux for more than a month or you did and your a really slow learner, and you never learnt how to update......
If no one writes programs for linux then why they hell do they have a Ubuntu Software Centre, never mind the other distros lol, these are only a small list of the software sources out there...... I like arguing against people who know wat there on about, this is boring...
@BUCKYAUSTIN What the hell are you babbling about? I've used Ubuntu for years. You can't get the latest Firefox when it comes out. Your only options are crappy kludges like installing the tarball version side-by-side with the normal version, ubuntuzilla, etc. Even Canonical's official solution installed two versions side-by-side, wasting hundreds of MB of hard drive space with duplicated data, breaking integration with the desktop, breaking the upgrade in the next Ubuntu release, etc etc
What a douche move... But at least they're right

A more suitable comparison would be Windows 7 versus Ubuntu 11.04, Windows has moved a long way since XP and so has Ubuntu.
