Isn't the liquid heating up, creating convection currents and so moving the particles from their natural static configuration?

@PhysicsPhreaker There is a slower current caused by convection.
When the seeds touch a wire they become charged and they get shot away from the wire.

Videos like this help us improve our classes inmensely, especially in underdeveloped countries where no resources are available to make any demonstration.
