@jhamp06 : I wouldn't say that he's a good guy. He's willing to betray his in-laws, and manipulate his wife who is madly in love with him to accomplish his goal; not to mention that he is a Ching supporter, sent to spy on his in-laws/Ming.
Although his motivation for betraying his wife and her family was to protect his own parents, his methods made him more of a villain than a hero - eventhough heroes and villains are not made clear in this movie). He's an anti-hero at best (maybe).
@tgpgrimreaper Ah. TY you for the inisight. I didn't watch much of the movie. I'm a Praying Mantis Practitioner and just thought he was a genuine good guy with mantis. Most mantis stylists in movie are portrayed as villains.
@xiang0810900 That was a little excessive. I like the fights and even the plots of these old Shaw Bros. kung fu movies, but sometimes there are bits of excessive gore and dismemberment that don't quite sit right with me. At least this one was just done in shadow.
The only Kung-Fu movie where the good guys vs the good guys very unusual!

I think there's another movie that has a mantis practitioner as a good guy. Someone dear to him got murdered by someone and got revenge.
He went completely crazy on that bad guy lol. In the final scene, he tore off the bad guy's limb and looks like he was going to eat it.
